Visit Bali and become a yoga teacher - what an amazing way to get certified to teach yoga! Epic ed-ventures; delicious, nutritious food, quality teaching, great community, and lots of fun! Truly Helpful is a small, family-run yoga school with heart and nearly 25 years of experience.
You will stay in a beautiful villa with all of the amenities close to the city center. Breakfast will be provided in the comfort of your own cozy, happy home. The rooms will be either private or shared and come fully equipped with everything you need to feel right at home.
This program will let you will immerse in every aspect of the yoga tradition, from foundational study of the rich history, philosophy, and lifestyle of yoga, to the in-depth study of asana (including anatomy), pranayama, and Sanskrit. This program is an ultimate practical training on how to be the most effective yoga teacher in the 21st century.
By the end of your time together, you will not only feel well-equipped to begin teaching yoga, but also you will feel very inspired to truly live a 'la vida' yoga and reap the great benefits of this ancient, time-honored, and way of life practices.
Your typical days together will be very strict, yet relaxed and easy-going. You will learn how to be yogis with no stress and no mess in the process. You will arise early and have no less than two 90-minute asana sessions before lunch on most days. You will generally finish the class sessions each day by around mid-afternoon, have plenty of free time to practice, do assignments, socialize, and whatever else needs attending to.
You will also have one more fun session in the evenings that may include music (kirtan), a movie, or something else that will be relevant to the learning process. You will be in bed by 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. to get a full night’s rest and be recharged for the following day.
One last important note, you will not be learning a specific style of yoga as you will be seeing the bigger picture of yoga, appreciating the 'wide, wild world' of yoga. You will actually be exposed to numerous styles of yoga, including Kundalini, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Dharma yoga, Acro yoga, Partner yoga, Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, Aerial yoga, and more.
Topics of this yoga teacher training will be yoga philosophy, yoga history, yoga ethics and lifestyle, Sanskrit, asana, pranayama, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology for yoga, and the business of yoga.
This cool and dense swath of jungle is what Ubud used to look like before it was developed. You will see carvings, a water spring, a Monkey temple, and of course lots of monkeys.
You can find anything at the Ubud market. Handicrafts from all over the island, a farmer’s market, and special ceremonial items the Balinese need every day plus much more. This will give you an up-close and personal experience of Balinese life and people.
You will have a very scenic drive to Pura Besakih or The Mother Temple. In Bali, there are found six supremely holy temples, called Sad Kahyangan, or the 'six temples of the world'. The most famous temple in all Bali is the triple shrine located in the courtyard of the Pura Penataran Agung at Pura Besakih.
At this shrine, three Padmassanas (a type of shrine) are arranged side by side. These shrines are dedicated to the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, God, the creator, God, the preserver, and God, the destroyer. Shiva is responsible for change both in the form of death and destruction and in the positive sense of the shedding of old habits.
In Satyam, Shivam, and Sundaram; or Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, Shiva also represents the most essential goodness. Here, you will make offerings in the Balinese tradition and style and also take in the beauty of this unique place.
Everyone will receive a welcome massage, herbal rub, and flower hot bath as a gift to welcome you to Bali! There are many healers and different styles of massage available here in Bali for you to experience as often as you’d like. All this is optional and requires additional fee and is quite affordable compared with western prices. Solomon is hoping to arrange a group healing / ceremony with a Balinese healer friend.
As Bali is the land of artists and creativity, you will have lots of opportunities to see and purchase a wide variety of art, clothing, jewelry, crafts, and more. Having had a Bali import business for over 30 years, Solomon will take you to some of his manufacturers for you to view and purchase items at wholesale prices.
Some of these include hand-painted silk sarongs, scarves, robes and clothing, batik sarongs, silver jewelry, and lots more. There may be experiences that present themselves at the moment for you to participate in one of these is a temple procession and / or ceremony. These are happening all the time and at the moment they will adapt your time to fit this in if an opportunity presents itself.
This is a one of a kind collection of Balinese, Javanese, and also other world cultures of masks and puppets. Very beautiful with many different buildings housing this unique art collection on beautiful grounds.
You will spend several evenings watching sacred Balinese dance and listening to the other-worldly music of the gamelan. One is a private performance in the Village of Celuk (the center of silver manufacturing). At a private Balinese compound, you will experience classical Balinese dance with music provided by a private gamelan (traditional Balinese instrument).
