What kind of yoga and meditation will you be practicing?

Due to the wide variety and sometimes confusion about yoga styles, below you can read a detailed description of what kind of yoga you will be practicing together on the retreat get some insight into what makes the venue special

The yoga

During retreats, yoga classes run twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Morning classes are focused on building vitality, energy and making you feel alive. You can expect elements from Vinyasa, Hatha, and alignment-based yoga. These classes are suitable for everyone and they will always offer multiple variations and adjustments to choose from.

Afternoon classes are a unique mix of yoga Therapy, mobility, Restorative, and Yin yoga. These sessions are like a deep release for the physical, mental, and emotional bodies. You will use fine-tuned exercises in breathing along with the help of various props to allow the body to naturally release, unwind, and let go of deep physical and emotional stress and tension.

You can be assured that whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, the experienced team of teachers will meet you where you are on your yoga journey and make sure you are safe and supported.

The meditation

During retreats, there will be two meditation sessions daily, but you are welcome to do more in your free time if you wish.

The concept behind their meditation sessions is not to just stick to one strict style of meditation or blindly follow 1 technique. Instead, they aim to share with you the simple nuts and bolts of meditation that can be applied to any style, technique, or daily task. In this way, you are empowered to develop your practice with a firm base of understanding and insight.

Meditation sessions will include teachings, discussions, feedback, and journaling. All of which will help make meditation an accessible and enjoyable experience. They also place a large emphasis on not just isolating meditation to sitting on your cushion with your eyes closed, but how you can bring meditation into everyday life.

If you are completely new to meditation and mindfulness, their retreats are a perfect place to start. They practice in an easygoing and relaxed setting with time for questions and feedback. If you are already a regular meditator, then their retreats will help you in continuing to refine and develop your practice.

Retreat location

True Nature is located 45 minutes north of Chiang Mai city in the natural setting of lush green mountains, rice fields, and banana plantations. Here they offer nourishing and rejuvenating yoga and meditation homestay retreats, along with in-depth yoga teacher training programs, meditation immersions, and eco-homestay living experiences.

True Nature is made up of three people, Ning, Adam, and Yai. Together, they had a vision that they wanted not only to create for themselves but to share with others.

Homestay retreats

What exactly is a homestay retreat anyway? The True Nature team coined this term to represent True Nature because this really is their home and where they live with their 4 lovely cats and 3 happy dogs. They are not putting on a "high end" or "fancy retreat" with lots of bells and whistles. This is just simply the way they live, and they are overjoyed to share their 'retreat style' way of living with you.

The property

The property has an organic garden that the team cares for to grow a variety of vegetables, free-range chickens that produce eggs, and an abundance of fruit trees that provide fresh fruit all year round. As they have mentioned before, the property is not a glamorous 5-star retreat with amazing villas or a huge swimming pool. They have simple yet wholesome values that they live by and the property reflects that.
