Bad Mitterndorf is the mountain location for the Tribe Yoga summer venue. The venue includes a large semi-converted barn with spacious yoga space and workout area, a summer kitchen, organic gardens, and a wonderful student residence with a pond.

Yoga shala

The shala and summer kitchen are inside the semi-converted yoga and arts barn. The yoga shala has a very natural ambience with wooden floors and large windows for maximum interior light. Portable gas heaters are provided in the yoga shala area for warmth if needed.

Organic gardens

The garden is a feast of vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, and fruit bushes. As much as possible, Tribe Yoga uses produce from the garden to create the healthy, organic, delicious dishes on the menu. As part of karma yoga and community living, students are invited to work with the earth in the garden and learn about the joys of ‘growing your own’.

Summer kitchen and dining area

The summer kitchen and dining area are located in the shala building. Seating for up to 20 people inside the yoga barn.

Generally, Bad Mitterndorf enjoys springs and summers with frequent clear blue skies and many sunny warm days. Often you can wear light clothing in the daytime with temperatures in the 20s and early 30s. The mountain weather can be changeable so come prepared for high and low temperatures and rain. The venue is located in a valley surrounded by mountains. Nights and early mornings can be cool.

Guided tour of sculpture park

Ferdinand Boehme has recently opened a sculpture park in Bad Mitterndorf right next to the yoga space. You will have special treatment as Ferdinand will personally lead you around the sculpture park and share some of his stories and inspirations about his work.

The climbing park

The climbing park is a 30-minute drive away in the next valley. You will be equipped with helmets and ropes and climb high up in the trees to cross from one to the next with different challenges to meet as you make your way around the assorted course. The highlight of the climbing park will be the flying fox where you will get to fly through the air on an aerial wire over more than 100 meters.

Trip to Bad Ischl

Bad Ischl is another very picturesque town with a river running through it and a large outdoor market. You can ride on small “toy” train through the town or even go riding on a horse and cart along the roads. In Bad Ischl, you will enjoy time at the large spa with great salt water pool for health and healing, whirlpools, and flowing outdoor river pool.

    The training that Rachael practises and therefore teaches is unique for each client and their needs. It takes a mixture of aerobic training to work the heart and lungs, weight training to strengthen the joints, muscles and to improve posture and yoga to improve proprioception, awareness, mobility, posture and to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. For her, the journey of yoga has been and continues to be inspirational. Yoga has opened the door for her to discover so much more than just the practice of asanas.

Tribe Yoga encourages the consumption of raw, live, and fresh foods. At times when the meal served is not raw students are welcome to use the kitchen facility to prepare their own raw dish.Also learn about the benefits of eating raw or lightly cooked meals for detoxing, healing, and losing weight. Understand how to quickly prepare simple recipes usual natural organic ingredients.

A beautiful way to spend a sunny afternoon, picnicking on the lake. Just a 20-minute drive away, you can find this lake. An indulgence of pure nature, a seven-kilometer traffic free path circumnavigates the crystal clean waters lined with small pebble beaches for sunbathing and swimming. The taxi cost is 15 EUR per person.

Boating on the lake

The rent is 6 EUR per hour, per person.


Many set hiking routes allow safe passageway to some of the most amazing mountain views.


Easily accessible lake by train or bike. there is a traffic free footpath around the lake. A great spot for swimming, picnicking and collecting wild eatable mushrooms. The train cost is 10 EUR per person, 10 minutes away.

Waterfall visit

It is a 25-minute cycle to the waterfall. Cycle hire is 10 to 15 EUR per day.

    "My time at Tribe Yoga will forever be significant in my life. Like so many, my journey to yoga came as a way to save myself from becoming a lost soul. As an expat living abroad in South Korea, I lost both of my parents to heart failure and cancer within a 13 month period.     "Since my 200-hour teacher training with Tribe Yoga in January 2013, I have consistently had a daily practice, incorporating it into every aspect of my life. I managed to get a general class at the yoga studio I attend called New Farm Power Yoga. This was a great honor for me as I idolize my teachers there. The trickle effect began, and I had a trial for a 90-minute Power Vinyasa class at another well-established yoga studio named Fusion Hot Yoga. After the class, I received a phone call to say that they were offering me two classes on a weekly basis. Since then I got offered another two classes at Active Life where I lead a 60-minute general class followed by a 90-minute Power Vinyasa flow. I now have six regular weekly classes at great places, but the one I love the most is the one where I lead a class at a beautiful park near my house under the fig tree and the energy of the sun. After a 60-minute asana practice, I teach my students techniques in pranayama and meditation. I can’t thank Tribe Yoga enough for the fantastic training I was provided. My yoga journey continually grows and my whole life feels in line with what the universe has in stalled for me.     "Having attended Tribe Yoga three week intensive course in Goa, I had expectations of leaving feeling lighter, inspired, and excited to pass this enthusiasm on to other people. If this is your expectation too, then this training may not be for you! In reality, my experience was far from what I believed the ethos of yoga to be (and I own a studio with a collective of seven amazing yoga teachers who encouraged me to go do my teacher training). I found it stifled my energies rather than nurtured them and I came away feeling crushed rather than uplifted, as a person and definitely as a potential yoga teacher. Being told how I had to learn humility and how it was maybe my age - that maybe I had trouble taking authority from people younger than myself. Whilst I appreciate an intensive training course must be based around rules and strict organization, I felt these were implemented to the point of patronizing and of a bullying nature, feeling particular teachers were frequently judgmental. I was left feeling demoralized, having been encouraged to purge (vomit for 29 days consecutively), criticized for any communication attempted for a six-hour period each day, and reprimanded with verbal abuse on many occasions. From day one, we were teaching each other and I felt there was an emphasis on learning to teach.     "I attended the yoga teacher training in the picturesque town of Bad Mittendorf. The location was very relaxing, as the small town of Bad Mittendorf is surrounded by mountains and rolling meadows. The small town had very helpful and friendly people. The group of students attending the training developed a wonderful rapport amongst themselves. The sharing of breakfast and dinner preparations and eating together was very enjoyable. Although I arrived a couple of days into the training, Scarlett ensured that I soon caught up with her teachings to the rest of the group. As a teacher, Scarlett is very thorough in explaining the material and the mechanics of yoga to the students and the practitioners of yoga. Her style of teaching is consistent with the practicing of the asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques. Enough time was provided to complete the review of the asana with handouts to help the students. Raquel taught the group at the Tribe Yoga teacher training in Bad Mittendorf. The first yoga Nidra session with Raquel was a good indicator to her style of teaching. The following weeks, we realized and benefited from the gentleness of her voice that guided us through the most intense asana and Vinyasa.     "I attended the Tribe Teacher Training course in Chiang Mai in March 2011. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my time there, but I'll try! Through my experience with Tribe Yoga, I grew emotionally and physically. Emotionally, the course was life-changing.
