Level 2 trainings introduce advanced yogic techniques and disciplines to support transformation, spiritual growth and personal development. There is an emphasis to build on sensitivity and raise ones threshold of perception to a higher level to be able to explore and experience the subtle bodies and different levels of consciousness.

During the training, it focuses on deepening and strengthening ourselves as yoga practitioners and yoga teachers. Rather than accumulating more information, this training is based on experimentation, exploration, experience and practice, which our primary objective is to put theory into practice.

This is the perfect opportunity to assess your own personal development and then figure out what action or changes will be most beneficial for you to establish more balance and harmony in your practice and lifestyle.

This training aims to infuse you with new aspiration and inspiration so you can advance in your understanding, experience and expression of yourself. Only then can you be of real service to your students and to the world.

Certification

The level 2 trainings cover 300 hours of study time. You will receive a 300hr-training certificate on completion. Together with your 200hr certification you will then be eligible to register as a 500hr RYS.

On successful completion of the training, trainees will receive a Tribe Certificate of attainment for the hours studied. Level 2 graduates will be eligible to receive the 500-hour teaching certification on completion of all below requirements:

Must have already completed Level 1 training at Tribe or any Yoga Alliance registered yoga school.

Complete the Level 2 training to the required standard (245 hours).

Complete the Level 2 non-contact hours in the form of set written assignments and submit them before or up to 6 months after the training period (55 hours).

Document 100 hours teaching or assisting class.

The practices:

Asana

The morning sessions will include advanced asana, pranayama and meditation practices. Many of the morning asana sessions will be taught in an Ashtanga Vinyasa style. As well as the traditional full primary and modified intermediate practices of Ashtanga, there will also be Vinyasa flow classes to introduce a more creative experience of asanas and sequencing. Some morning asana practices will be in traditionally Hatha yoga style where we hold postures for longer and focus on the energetic flow and chakra activation.

During the training arm balancing, jump through and other more complex aspects of asana practice will be explored giving trainees an additional challenge to open and develop the body and mind in new ways.

We teach specific focuses to increase sensitivity and awareness, integrating and illustrating the impact and application of the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga.

Meditation

Practices will include a combination of concentration techniques, pratyahara techniques and meditations such as Trataka, Hang sa kriya, yoga Nidra, Anapanasati, so-ham meditation and chakra music meditation.

All trainees must be comfortable 'sitting' for long periods of meditation and pranayama (sitting can be in any position with the support of props or cushions if necessary as long as the spine is vertical).

Pranayama

Long pranayama sessions will be performed in the morning practices. We will use various traditional pranayama techniques to explore the possibility of directing prana with specific intent and purpose.

Self Practice

Saturday mornings are exclusively for self practice in which trainees have the time to integrate the weeks teachings into their own style of practice with teachers on hand to assist.

Kriyas & purification program

Purification is considered a very important aspect of yoga practice. The Kriyas on the training will be a mix of basic and intermediate practices, as well as, 2 one day fasts we will also be facilitating the Ohsawa No. 7 Detox which is a detoxing, purifying and balancing eating regime of whole grains only (generally brown rice). Ohsawa will take place from the 2nd Monday for 10 days.

Fasting

There will be 2 separate 24hr periods of fasting during the training. On these days there will be no meals scheduled. Students who do not wish to fast can eat separately.

Oshawa no. 7 cleanse - 10 day brown rice 'diet'

The Oshawa 10 day purification starts on the 2nd Monday of the training. During the 10 days no meals apart from oshawa meals will be offered. An introduction and informative lecture is given on the Oshawa no 7 cleanse in the first week so you can decide if you would like to participate. There is no pressure to participate but we do encourage you to take advantage of doing something beneficial for yourself and your practice in the supported space of the training. If you opt out, you will be required to organise your own meals.

Adjustment workshops

Deepening our understanding of and the application of adjustments under the collective expertise of the Tribe teachers. Trainees will study and practice the art of assisting and adjusting in such a way that their understanding, articulation and teaching of postures becomes a transmission of confidence and efficiency.

Experiential studies of the chakras, prana and the subtle bodies. We will utilize various techniques and practices to heighten our sensitivity and level of perception so that we can connect to, experience and become more sensitive to our subtle bodies, chakras, pranic flows and different levels of consciousness.

Massage & healing sessions

These sessions allow us to build greater sensitivity and feeling for movement and touch as well as being a great opportunity to relax, tune in and nurture personal and group energy.

Karma yoga

In India, we encourage the students to complete a few hours of karma per week either in the venue or in the community.

Trainee lecturing & teaching asana

Trainees will each be invited to prepare and teach a 60 minute lecture of their choice and teach a 60 minute asana class. Group feedbacks will be given at the end of each teaching, which in our experience is supportive to both the growth, and learning of all present.

Mouna

The practice of mouna (silence) will be observed on a daily basis until the end of the morning breakfast. Students may also wish to extend the practice of silence to one whole day choosing either a 'practical' silence or a full silence. The training offers the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself with this and other practices that you may otherwise find difficult to do for the first time in ones normal day to day living

Rory Trollen

Rory Trollen was born in Scotland in 1979. In 1998, he went travelling overseas and whilst living in Byron Bay, Australia where he first started practicing yoga. In 2000, his adventurous spirit led him to move to Queenstown, New Zealand where he embarked on a 7 year career in the adventure capital of the world working in outdoor sports and recreation.

He began practicing Yoga primarily for its healing benefits and to aid recovery from sporting injuries and noticed significant improvement in reduced recovery time, increased core strength and mental focus. In early 2008 he was introduced to Agama yoga and the profound teachings that they offer. The Agama teachings hail primarily from traditional Indian and Tibetan Yoga and span many aspects of the traditional yoga system from asana to understanding, harnessing and realizing the latent potential of the mind through advanced forms of pranayama, Kundalini yoga and meditation.

Attracted and encouraged by the possibility of spiritual evolution and growth, he completed a 500-hour teacher-training course at Agamas headquarters in Thailand. On completion of the course he was invited by the administrators of the program to teach at one of the agama branches in India for a season. This proved to be an incredible opportunity that not only gave him a strong grounding as a yoga teacher but also helped him evolve his own practice through immersion in the Indian yogic culture. Since then he has taught yoga full time in Scotland, India and Thailand, teaching in many environments and students across the board, from yoga teacher trainees to prisoners!

His knowledge of Hatha, Ashtanga, Tantra, Kundalini yoga and Advaita Vedanta has been deepened by the guidance of many teachers namely Swami Vivekananda Saraswati (Agama yoga), Reinhard Gammenthaller (Kundalini yoga Parampara), Sahajananda (Hridaya yoga) and Sri Sheshadri (Patanjala Ashtanga Vinyasa). His experience of these many disciplines from asana to meditation and philosophy has evolved through self discipline, practice and aspiration.

With a warm and relaxed character Rory is a highly respected & experienced teacher in the growing global yoga community. As a practitioner he is full of passion in regards to his own personal development and that of his students. His vibrant energy and positive input is a welcome additional to the Tribe teaching team.

Safah Roberts

Born in Canada in the sign of Libra, Safah began her relationship with yoga in 2001, while trying to find solution to the stress of a corporate career. Four years later she found a spiritual community that enabled her to see a way to be of service to a world that felt increasingly unbalanced. Through the guidance of the teachings of pranic healing and a regular yoga practice, the veil started to lift and show a new way of being.

It was during healing work with clients that Safah realized her natural ability to intuitively support and facilitate positive energy flow in the body. The whole realm of energy felt very familiar, so when she went looking for her first yoga training, she knew it had to come from a teacher who could help to develop this awareness further. She liked asana, but knew being able to contort was not a sure ticket to enlightenment. After a series of strange coincidences with a traveling swami, she landed in India and received her RYT 200 in Classical Hatha with Life Mission in Gujurat. This journey opened her to the potential of cultivating life force when she received audience and blessings from Swami Rajarshi Muni. It was here that she only started to understand the true potential of Shakti.

Safah returned to India and received her RYT 500 Hatha training with Tribe Yoga, drawn to this program forints focus on the subtle bodies, pranayama, and meditation. To ground her asana practice in a western method, Sadie Nardie certified her in the thoughtful, deep core alignment teachings of the core strength Vinyasa method.

Safah has developed a strong practice and following in her local community as a pranic healer over the last seven years, and is currently training to teach in this method. The priceless teachings have given her a firm experiential foundation in the healing of soul, mind body blockages which she is excited to share with her students. Safah is a lifelong learner, lover of mantra and her shruti box, and also a keen student of astrology, integrating all that she has learned to make her teaching interesting, relevant and fun!

Scarlett Dee

Born in England. In 1972, to Jamaican and Irish parents nowadays Scarlett spends her time living in Europe during the summer and teaching or studying in Asia during the winter. In 2007 She founded and created Tribe and created the Tribe yoga teacher training program.

Scarlett has been a yoga practitioner for more than 20 years and sharing her experience of yoga in many of its various forms with students for over 15 years. Her teaching style for asana originates from her years of study and training in many different styles including Ashtanga and Dynamic yoga. Through simple and clear instructions Scarlett offers a practical, light hearted, fun, creative, and spontaneous approach to yoga suited to both beginners and more advanced students.

One of her main sources of inspiration comes from Godfrey Devereux who devised the dynamic yoga method and with whom she spent time studying as his apprentice and trained as a teacher in 2002-4.

In 2005, Scarlett also studied intensively with Larry Schultz at 'Itsyoga' in San francisco where she trained as an Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher and also learned to 'fly' training in his 'Rocket' series which focuses on arm balancing postures and strongly influences her self-practice and teaching to her more advanced students.

Another of Scarlett's important influences comes from Agama Yoga. In 1998 Scarlett was in Rishikesh and completed the Level 1 month long intensive with Swarmi Vivekananda, the spiritual leader of the Agama yoga school. The course offered her a rich source of ancient and modern disciplines which gave her a deeper connection and understanding of the subtle bodies, subtle energies and the different levels of consciousness fundamental to our existence and evolution. Since that time she has returned to the agama teachings and studied Levels 2 and 3. In 2011 she completed the Agama 500hr TTC and more recently completed the Agama Tantra instructor training.

When teaching hatha Scarlett's main focus is to guide students towards having the confidence and understanding to develop a self-practice and to personally experience the transformative power of yoga. Her emphasis in her teaching is 'its not what you do but how you do it!' encouraging students to journey inward and explore the possibility of cultivating awareness, sensitivity and concentration of the mind, creating openings for self development and empowering students by reconnecting them to their own inner wisdom and divinity.

As 21st century practitioners Scarlett very passionately believes that Tantra has a major role to play in our lives. "Tantra is the path that enables us to cultivate a sacred relationship with ourselves, others, our life and existence itself. Specifically relevant to the time that we live in Tantra teachings offer us the possibility to radically evolve on many levels."

As well as teaching yoga, Scarlett complements her understanding of the body, mind and spirit as an accomplished and skillful massage therapist. Trained in 8 different styles of massage she has developed her own unique style of deep tissue remedial massage which honours the individual needs of the person she is treating to create therapeutic and deeply relaxing results.

Goa seems to have lots of appeal for its great beaches and cosmopolitan feel and it is fast becoming a bit of a spiritual Mecca with people from all over the world gathering together to share what they do or to learn something from others and is the perfect place to come and spend some quality time studying yoga and many other spiritual practices such as meditation, Tai Chi, dance, music, satsang. Its also pretty cheap to live in Goa - you can get a house and really settle for a while which is what a lot of students do.

Conscious eating & yogic diet

As, yoga practitioners purity and energy management are both important aspects of our daily living. The food eaten will have a dramatic impact, positive or negative, on all levels of our being depending on what and how we eat. "I loved everything about this yoga teacher training, the teachers were amazing and all had something different to teach us with their own approach. The training is very well organized and the curriculum very complete, covering many aspects of yoga and even more. We as students get lots of practice to feel confident to teach to the world once the training is completed. Having days off in between even though it was an intensive training is a nice break and allows for strengthening the bond with out fellow student yogis. The location was perfect, in nature, away from urban hustle and bustle, an ideal place to really immerse deeply into the training. I would do it all over again, I feel like I really learnt a lot during this month ad the whole experience exceeded widely all my expectations. Thank you Tribe! "

"My time at Tribe Yoga will forever be significant in my life. Like so many, my journey to yoga came as a way to save myself from becoming a lost soul. As an expat living abroad in South Korea, I lost both of my parents to heart failure and cancer within a 13 month period. Feeling as though I had lost everything, I fell into a crippling depression that nearly destroyed me. Practicing yoga and meditation was recommended to me by a friend as a way to reclaim and re-center myself. After several months of practice on my own, I could see change blossoming and a part of me emerging that I had not known before. I wanted to learn the deeper aspects of yoga and how this knowledge could greater shape my life. I came to Tribe Yoga with a sincere passion to ignite myself and flourish. Not only had I awakened a sleeping yogini within, but I came away with deeper love for myself, serenity of life, compassion in the world, a connection of the mind-body-soul, and loving friendships. All of my moments spent in the company of such amazing teachers, practitioners, spiritual seekers, and healers have elevated my personal practice to amazing heights. My journey is never ending and I revel in each day spent living and breathing yoga. I humbly thank my Tribe Yoga teachers and follow trainees for their gift of a love and light."

"Since my 200-hour teacher training with Tribe Yoga in January 2013, I have consistently had a daily practice, incorporating it into every aspect of my life. I managed to get a general class at the yoga studio I attend called New Farm Power Yoga. This was a great honor for me as I idolize my teachers there. The trickle effect began, and I had a trial for a 90-minute Power Vinyasa class at another well-established yoga studio named Fusion Hot Yoga. After the class, I received a phone call to say that they were offering me two classes on a weekly basis. Since then I got offered another two classes at Active Life where I lead a 60-minute general class followed by a 90-minute Power Vinyasa flow. I now have six regular weekly classes at great places, but the one I love the most is the one where I lead a class at a beautiful park near my house under the fig tree and the energy of the sun. After a 60-minute asana practice, I teach my students techniques in pranayama and meditation. I can’t thank Tribe Yoga enough for the fantastic training I was provided. My yoga journey continually grows and my whole life feels in line with what the universe has in stalled for me. My classes are a credit to the teachings of the whole Tribe Yoga team and the countless gifts the other students on the course passed on to me! I am blessed to be a yoga teacher."

"Having attended Tribe Yoga three week intensive course in Goa, I had expectations of leaving feeling lighter, inspired, and excited to pass this enthusiasm on to other people. If this is your expectation too, then this training may not be for you! In reality, my experience was far from what I believed the ethos of yoga to be (and I own a studio with a collective of seven amazing yoga teachers who encouraged me to go do my teacher training). I found it stifled my energies rather than nurtured them and I came away feeling crushed rather than uplifted, as a person and definitely as a potential yoga teacher. Being told how I had to learn humility and how it was maybe my age - that maybe I had trouble taking authority from people younger than myself. Whilst I appreciate an intensive training course must be based around rules and strict organization, I felt these were implemented to the point of patronizing and of a bullying nature, feeling particular teachers were frequently judgmental. I was left feeling demoralized, having been encouraged to purge (vomit for 29 days consecutively), criticized for any communication attempted for a six-hour period each day, and reprimanded with verbal abuse on many occasions. Maybe my age was my greatest hindrance, but having taught and lectured for many years, I just do not consider humiliation as a motivational tool. Good luck if you do!"

"This course was all that I hoped that it would be and all that it promised to be. I wanted a relaxed and in-depth introduction to the many aspects of the eight limbs of yoga, obviously a challenge to squeeze into a one month intro course, however I really feel that this was achieved. All aspects of the course revealed the dedication, devotion, and care of the teachers to our learning and further progress and understanding of this bottomless sea of knowledge. It was like being safely descended into a scuba dive, slowly exploring the depths of philosophy, asana, pranayama, meditation, teaching, chanting, adjusting, and yoga. My daily practice has continued and developed naturally as a result of this immersion. Even though I have been teaching yoga asana in Bali for five years now, I feel so much more confident and grounded in my personal yoga lifestyle and far more equipped to share what I feel and know of yoga. Many thanks to Scarlett, Sequoia, Raquel, Susie, and Hamid. Namaste."

"Tribe Yoga training course is very well thought out and well presented. The information is relayed in a comprehensive and professional manner. It is evident through the results achieved, individually and as a collective group that a lot of consideration and effort went into crafting the syllabus, to not only make it accessible enough to everyone, but at the same time making sure that the optimum information gets filtered through effectively. In addition, there is also a very good balance with the structure of the training in terms of the percentage of time allocated to each specific subject category. I feel that the group received a strong foundation, to keep building on post training completion."

"The program was well thought out and covered everything that I needed to know. Of course, much of my training has been through other teachers, my self-practice, and my own teaching. But this course was a great basis for learning how to teach and delving deeper into the more spiritual aspects. The teachers were excellent and professional and the environment was beautiful and perfect for an intense teacher training."

"The Tribe Yoga teacher training was an immensely powerful tool to self-study, healing, and understanding the mechanics of the body and the mind. I came to India wanting to deepen my knowledge of the roots of yoga and was deeply inspired by the wealth of knowledge that I was given that extended far past any other studies that I had ever been of part of. Truthfully, I did not know what to expect at all and am incredibly moved by the powerful support and generosity the teachers offered about their own life journeys in yoga and its counterparts. The program was the most dynamic because of the encouragement each person was given to find their own voice within yoga, their own unique voice and style, and the groundwork was set from the first day to transcend any rigid dogma and create an individual path. It was a wonderful wonderful experience and I am forever touched. Thank you! Love and namaste!"

The variety of knowledge, styles, and approaches gained from the perfectly balanced teachers was amazing, allowing us the students to get a better idea of our own personal teaching styles and preferences. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone. Amazing!"

"The tribe yoga teacher training has been an amazing experience for me; it has given me the skills to teach. From day one, we were teaching each other and I felt there was an emphasis on learning to teach. The anatomy sessions were very interesting and beneficial in really helping to bring the asana to life through learning how each posture affects the body, the muscles used, and the dynamics of stretching and relaxing. This course is the beginning of the journey and has been a great personal experience that I feel has opened me up in a way that enables me to share the teachings with others. Scarlett's knowledge of yoga is immense and she imparted it to us in such an easy way that it was impossible to not learn from her. She was attentive to each of our needs, nurturing us independently and as a group, so that we really grew together throughout the month. Raquel is an inspiring teacher, with a great sensitivity, care, and understanding of yoga and the student. Her style of teaching is fun and lighthearted and yet precise and in-depth. She really looked after us all and gave us as much time and energy as we required."

"I attended the yoga teacher training in the picturesque town of Bad Mittendorf. The location was very relaxing, as the small town of Bad Mittendorf is surrounded by mountains and rolling meadows. The small town had very helpful and friendly people. The group of students attending the training developed a wonderful rapport amongst themselves. The sharing of breakfast and dinner preparations and eating together was very enjoyable. Although I arrived a couple of days into the training, Scarlett ensured that I soon caught up with her teachings to the rest of the group. As a teacher, Scarlett is very thorough in explaining the material and the mechanics of yoga to the students and the practitioners of yoga. Her style of teaching is consistent with the practicing of the asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques. Enough time was provided to complete the review of the asana with handouts to help the students. Raquel taught the group at the Tribe Yoga teacher training in Bad Mittendorf. The first yoga Nidra session with Raquel was a good indicator to her style of teaching. The following weeks, we realized and benefited from the gentleness of her voice that guided us through the most intense asana and Vinyasa. Scarlet and Raquel shared their own experience in establishing their practice, guiding the new teachers with encouragement and support."

"I attended the Tribe Teacher Training course in Chiang Mai in March 2011. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my time there, but I'll try! Through my experience with Tribe Yoga, I grew emotionally and physically. Emotionally, the course was life-changing. I was sort of lacking in confidence and couldn't have imagined teaching a yoga course to anyone! Yet, in the month I was there, I was able to gather the courage and confidence, and a strong belief in myself. The teachers, Mark, Raquel, and Sequoia, were encouraging and supportive through everything. They helped me see what I could be, even when I couldn't imagine it. I grew physically through the daily practice and healthy eating, combined with proper breathing practices. I felt stronger than I'd ever been by the time I left Thailand. I have been teaching regularly since I returned to my home in Abu Dhabi. I feel prepared and confident, and I am so happy I can help others see how wonderful yoga is! Tribe Yoga made it all possible."
