During this training, your accommodation will be in a local guesthouse within walking distance from the venue. All rooms are single occupancy with shared bathroom. Upgrades are available at an extra cost.


This Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha mixed styles yoga teacher training in the UK is definitely challenging and requires a lot of dedication and focused study, which Tribe Yoga likes to achieve with lightness, warmth, and smiles all around. In particular, the UK trainings are a melting pot of different personalities, cultures, backgrounds, ideas, and experiences through which each person can broaden their perspective and venture on a very special, diverse, unique and exciting journey of new friendships, new growth, and new horizons.

The teaching team on the UK trainings is made up of a vibrant group of three experienced teachers and up to two assistants, who each bring their own individual practice and understanding to share with the selected trainees.

Since 2007, Tribe Yoga has offered four weeks of level 1 trainings for a period of time. In 2012, they introduced the opportunity to complete the same training in three weeks. The quality, content, and student attainment on the courses remain the same. Students who do opt for the three weeks intensive classes need to be fully committed and 100% focused, in order to be able to complete the challenge of this course successfully.

Typical schedule

Sunday to Friday:

  • 06:00 Daily reading, pranayama, meditation, yoga asana
  • 09:30 Breakfast
  • 11:00 Lectures: theory, methodology, philosophy or anatomy
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Study time and meditation
  • 15:30 Group work, asana practice teaching skills
  • 18:00 Chanting and meditation

Saturday is considered to be a free day.

Morning readings during the trainings

Tribe asks that each student share a reading with the group. This will be for about 1 to 10 minutes and can be anything from a piece of literature, a poem, a chapter or two from a spiritual text, etc. anything uplifting, heart opening or thought provoking. All trainees are requested to bring at least one reading.

Required reading

The Yoga Sutras written by Patanjali is one of the core texts for the training. You are advised to read at least one translation before you attend any of the trainings. Translations differ from writer to writer, some more credible than others. Reading a cross-selection is always a good idea. Below are just a few:

The yoga practice

Self Practice

One of Tribe's main focus is to guide you towards deepening into a strong self-practice and a more yogic lifestyle. They facilitate a space whereby each person is invited to appreciate and nurture their own individuality, developing a self-practice that reflects how and what one is feeling in each and every moment so that the sequencing of ones practice or teaching becomes more spontaneous and explorative.


In asana the sequencing for study and practice is based on a modified Ashtanga primary series and Vinyasa flow. To honor the varying abilities and limitations, there are modifications to the traditional primary series asanas and introductions to a greater variety of asanas and sequencing taught under an umbrella of spiritual content and guidance.

Tribe Yoga feels that awareness is the fertile ground for transformation and the real essence of asana practice lies in connecting to the subtleties of the body, breath and mind. Instructions focus on leading the students into a deeper awareness, to feel and recognize whats going on inside their bodies not just physically! Moving through asana practice is not the inhale 'do this' and exhale 'do that' often experience in many Ashtanga classes. This does little to enhance a students self-development and progress.

Asana classes taught on Tribe training incorporate practical instruction and spiritual guidance. The Tribe Yoga's approach, which is transmitted to trainees, is one of clear and effective instruction to increase awareness and sensitivity empowering students to deepen into a safe and beneficial practice. There are no Mysore style asana classes on these intensive yoga teacher trainings.

The method used in the asana practices and studies is inspired by 'Dynamic yoga ' as devised by Godfrey Devereux. The dynamic yoga method gives us a simplistic approach to the practice and understanding of some basic fundamentals applied during effective asana practice.

Those fundamentals are: a soft and passive core, a stable foundation, expression of the bandhas, freedom of the breath, awareness and sensitivity act as the fertile ground on which the fundamentals can be cultivated.


Pranayama can open the doors to the possibility of transcending physical and emotional blocks thereby accessing and connecting to the more subtle aspects of our being. The pranayama program includes a broad range of techniques that present a gradual yet deep exploration of the power of the breath.


As part of the yoga practice schedule, the meditation program is a reflection of the different styles of meditations that the teachers on the training personally practice, which, depending on the teaching team, may include Anapasati (mindfulness of breathing), dynamic meditation, Aum meditation, and various styles of guided meditations techniques including trataka and the hang-sa kriya.

Meditation can be quite challenging to western students who are not used to sitting for long periods in stillness so please consider this carefully if you wish to train with Tribe Yoga. Some meditations will be guided and some will be in silence. All the meditations are an invitation to cultivate the awareness and stillness that is the hallmark of all spiritual practices.


At Tribe Yoga, the ancient teachings of the east are taught in a modern way suitable for the western mind so students can flourish in their practice and naturally gravitate to a more yogic lifestyle. They have no bias to any particular spiritual teachings and teach in a non-dogmatic way, which embraces many spiritual traditions and paths.

Studying the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, you will focus on the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga. The eight limbs illuminate the understanding of what yoga is and how to practice. Tribe Yoga likes to think that the 'real' teachings come from all those who participate in the training discussing, sharing, exploring and debating yoga practice and yogic lifestyle in the animated philosophical sessions that take place each week.

Students who complete the assessments and practicums according to Tribe's standards receive their full teaching certificate at the end of their training. Sometimes students may require extra time after training to assimilate the teachings and embody the teaching skills. In these cases, assignments and one additional practicum will be set, which a student can submit for assessment at any time after the training. On successful completion of both, the student will receive their full certification by post within 10 days.

Course information

Tribe Yoga likes to think of the training as a yoga journey suitable for anyone who has a keen interest to learn something new about themselves and advance their understanding and current experience of yoga. They encourage everybody to do what they can to the best of their ability. At the end of the day, it is less about what you do and more about how you do that transforms an action into yoga!

It is difficult to assess the level of practice that people have through the application. Someone who has been practising every day for 6 months with an experienced teacher could be at a similar level of practice as someone who has been practice for 3 years a couple of times a week in a gym! So Tribe Yoga invites all levels, beginners to advanced to join. They hope to bring together people who want to discover something new about themselves and who have an interest to contribute to the growing global yoga community. The training is a chance to set the foundation for a more yogic way of living and being

Most importantly when assessing somebody's suitability to join one of the courses they look for students who have a sincere passion and interest to study yoga in all its aspects not just in asana. The training includes yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, chanting and much more.

Crewe is a small town. Ministry of Yoga is located within walking distance from the train station and close to local supermarkets. The area also has many small guest houses bookable through AirBnB.

The Ministry of Yoga and Well-being was built in 2015 in Crewe, Cheshire to provide a safe, comfortable and relaxing space for the local community to engage mindfully in holistic and well-being practices.

This beautiful center hosts a wonderful community of teachers and therapists from the local area who offer classes, workshops, treatments and more to the people of Crewe and the surrounding areas.

There are three beautiful yoga studios, four therapy rooms, a cafe space with outdoor roof terrace, changing facilities and full disability access throughout.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Manchester Airport (MAN), Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL), or Luton Airport (LTN).You can take a train to Crewe from Manchester Airport (MAN) or Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL). If you fly to Luton Airport (LTN) there is a bit of a distance to travel to Crewe. But it might weigh up well if looking for cheap flights.

Arrival by train

There is a direct train from Manchester airport to Crewe. Its a 10-minute walk to the venue from the train station.
