Yoga lovers are invited to join this yoga teacher training, in Thailand, and enjoy great weather, fantastic service, rich culture and a Buddhist spiritual ambiance, whilst studying yoga. This training includes various practices and asana styles including Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow, Hatha, Yin and restorative. Something for everybody.
The resort is beautiful and peaceful, with a large swimming pool to plunge into in the heat of the afternoons or just relax and chill around the pool with the other trainees and the teachers.
The wooden decked yoga shala provides a great space for training practices and studies. Practice also takes place outside in the shade of the big trees where one can enjoy the delight and sounds of the surrounding nature.
Shared accommodation is included in the price package. Occasionally, the only option to secure a shared spot is to share with the opposite sex. If you specifically do not wish to share with the opposite sex, please let us know in advance.
All sharing rooms are comfortable and stylish, complete with air conditioning, shower, hot and cold water, and hairdryer and teak furniture.

Throughout the training, you will get lots of teaching practice, which allows you to build the skill and confidence to share what you love. By the end of the training, it’s amazing to see that in this relatively short amount of time you will be able to share your understanding and practice of yoga with others in a yoga class scenario.
Tribe Yoga cannot assess your level of practice by what you write on the application. In Tribe Yoga's experience, a student who has been practicing for just six months could have an equal level of practice as a student who has studied for many years. Who you have been taught by, the quality of the teachings you have received, your personal ability to digest and assimilate the practice, and the consistency and continuity with which you practice are all important factors. This means the responsibility is on you to decide if you are ready for this training.
At the very least, it is ideal to be familiar with the practice of sun salutations and have some experience of the primary series before attending this training. When you sign up on a Tribe Yoga teacher training, Tribe Yoga will send you some recommended pre-study and practice which includes a practice sheet of the modified Ashtanga primary practice asanas and guidelines on how to teach sun salutations. Tribe Yoga also offers book recommendations.
If you feel you have a passion for yoga practice and the physical and mental fitness to meet the challenges of this course and if you are willing to give yourself 100% to an intensive and rewarding learning experience, then you are welcome to join.
This course is not just for people who want to teach yoga. The course allows you the time and space to take a break from your normal routine and touch base with the deeper levels of your being. This is your chance to re-calibrate every aspect of your life; how you live, what you eat, what you think, what you do, how you feel about yourself, and how you feel about the world.
If you do have a passion to become a teacher, this course provides a supportive arena to access your inner guru. You can expect to build a strong foundation of confidence and skill, which will allow you to teach clearly and precisely from your own experience. This includes developing the teaching skills and hands-on adjustment skills that will make you a sensitive and competent teacher.
On the other hand, if you are attending the course purely for self-development reasons, you may surprise yourself at the end of the training that you realize that you have a lot to share with others as a teacher too.
Whatever your reasons may be, you can expect to gain an increase in your confidence and skill as a yoga practitioner. You will discover and develop many new yoga disciplines and practices that will support you in all aspects of your life. The wealth of information and wisdom shared through the grace of the yoga teachings will furnish your life with blessings and guidance forevermore.
All trainees who successfully complete the course will receive an internationally recognized 200-hour yoga teacher certificate accredited by Yoga Alliance, the European Yoga Alliance, and the Yoga Register, giving them a teaching status to teach whatever style of yoga they love and practice. With the Tribe Yoga teaching certificate, it's possible to register as an RYT (registered yoga teacher) with the above registries.
You are assessed continuously throughout the duration of the training. Your attitude and commitment towards practice and teaching, personal accomplishment and progress, and the ability to understand express, and share the teachings are all considerations in deciding whether you have successfully completed the course.
95% attendance is required in order to receive a certificate. Since the training is scheduled as intensives, there is very little room for non-attendance.
In the case of continuous non-attendance, additional hours of study on a future training will be required and a certificate of either 100, 150, or 175 hours will be issued to reflect the hours completed. Additional hours of study are subject to a teaching fee.
If you fall ill, you will be encouraged to attend the class and observe, as by being present many of the teachings can be still be digested and faster healing will occur. If an illness is severe, you are advised to inform Tribe Yoga so that if necessary they can call a doctor on your behalf.
Please note that the teaching certificates are issued at the discretion of the Tribe Yoga teachers based on your performance and attainment. All students are required to achieve 75% pass rates in exams and assessments. If you fail in any part of the training, re-takes are possible during the training.
It is Tribe Yoga's experience that all students who apply themselves to the best of their ability will pass. In the rare case that a trainee needs additional time developing their understanding or skills a temporary certificate with a footnote, more training recommended before teaching to the public will be issued. Full certification will be issued on completion of additional assignments.
Level 1 certificates are presented to you at the closing ceremony on the last day of the training. With your Tribe Yoga certificate, you can register as a member of one of the many existing yoga organizations around the world. You can sign up with Yoga Alliance, the European Yoga Alliance, or the Yoga Register as a graduate of a member school.
Tribe Yoga recommends the Yoga Register, a yoga organization created by ‘elder’ yoga teachers which has a very integral way of assessing the schools that they register.
Graduating from a registered yoga school and attaining a yoga teacher certificate gives you notable credibility as a yoga teacher. With your training certificate, you can apply to get liability insurance from many insurance companies that offer sports-related insurance policies.
If you are employed by a yoga or health organization to teach, then it’s likely you will be covered through the company insurance and will not need to apply for your own personal insurance although some people consider it a good idea if you live in the West to have your own insurance policy. It is not necessary to sign up as a member of any yoga organization to get insurance, a certificate is all you need.
In asana, the sequencing for study and practice is based on a modified Ashtanga primary series and there will be Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, and Hatha practices too. Due to the varying abilities and limitations, there are modifications to the traditional primary series asanas and introductions to a greater variety of asanas and sequencing taught under an umbrella of spiritual content and guidance.
Tribe Yoga believes that awareness is the fertile ground for transformation and the real essence of asana practice lies in connecting to the subtleties of the body, breath, and mind. The instructions focus on leading you into a deeper awareness, to feel and recognize what’s going on inside your bodies, not just physically.

Moving through asana practice is not the inhale ‘do this’ and exhale ‘do that’ often experienced in many Ashtanga classes. This does little to enhance your self-development and individual progress. The asana classes taught on Tribe Yoga training incorporate practical instruction and spiritual guidance.
The method used in the asana practices and studies is inspired by the dynamic yoga method as devised by Godfrey Devereux. The dynamic yoga method provides you with the simplistic approach, practice, and understanding of some basic fundamentals which make asana practice safe and effective. Those fundamentals are:
During the training, you are supported to deepen your understanding and sensitivity, learning how to navigate safely and effectively through a self-practice, being able to skillfully respond to what you are feeling in each and every moment. You will be facilitated with space whereby you are invited to nurture your own unique individuality and explore what works for you. Whether you are new to self-practice or have been practicing solo for a long time, the training will help you develop greater spontaneity and become more explorative in your practice.
During the training, you get plenty of time to develop your teaching skills through teaching practice and coaching from the Tribe Yoga's teachers. Each week, there will be teaching assessments so you can appreciate and monitor your progress and growth. By the end of the training, you will be able to create your own sequence and structure for a 75-minute yoga class which you can immediately teach to others when you venture back out into the world.
Pranayama can open the doors to the possibility of transcending physical and emotional blocks thereby accessing and connecting to the more subtle aspects of your being. The pranayama program includes a broad range of techniques that present a gradual yet deep exploration of the power of the breath.
The meditation program is a combination of guided and silent practices that are an invitation to cultivate the awareness and stillness that is the hallmark of all spiritual practices. There will be a diverse selection of techniques including breath awareness, mantra, music, and dynamic meditation.
At Tribe Yoga, the ancient teachings of the East are taught in a modern way suitable for the Western mind, so you can flourish in your practice and naturally gravitate to a more yogic lifestyle. There is no bias to any particular spiritual teachings and the instructors will teach in a non-dogmatic way, which embraces many spiritual traditions and paths.
The main body of teachings for the philosophical talks and studies is the yoga sutras of Patanjali. You will focus on the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga which will support and illuminate your understanding of what yoga is and how to practice. Kriyas are the cleansing practices of Hatha yoga that support health and hygiene but more importantly cleanse you on a physical, energetic, emotional, and mental level. The beginner's kriya practices are optional. You can decide for yourself after the theory if you wish to practice kriyas on a daily basis.
You eat for energy and when you recognize that yoga is a practice which generates and directs energy in specific ways, your food choices become very important. The food you eat has a powerful and profound effect on all levels of your being. It's not unusual for yoga students to plateau in their practice and often diet is a major factor installing one's spiritual evolution.
On this training course, you will be introduced to fasting and detoxing practices although they are not compulsory. You are always encouraged to listen to the theory and then decide for yourself if they want to participate.
Restorative classes are a great opportunity to re-calibrate the body and establish a deep sense of release and relaxation on all levels of your being. On the Tribe Yoga teacher training, the restorative classes create an opportunity to explore how to use props to support students deeper into stability, stillness, and comfort so the body and mind are both replenished and refreshed.
The practice of Bhakti yoga, the devotional chanting, and singing, is a beloved practice of Tribe Yoga training. The teachers have a passion for Bhakti yoga and are able to transmit their enthusiasm and devotion and love for the divine to you in such a profound way. Scarlett has been a yoga practitioner for more than 20 years and sharing her experience of yoga in many of its various forms with students for over 15 years. Her teaching style for asana originates from her years of study and training in many different styles including Ashtanga, Dynamic yoga, and Tantra yoga. Through simple and clear instructions, Scarlett offers a practical, lighthearted, fun, creative, and spontaneous approach to yoga suited to both beginners and more advanced students.
Emily constantly explores different inspirations of asana and various paths of yoga. Her passion for movement and body awareness coupled with her strong background in anatomy manifests in her teachings as clear, precise, thoughtful instruction. Emily loves sharing her knowledge with her students and feels especially rewarded when someone realizes that they can do something that they previously thought unattainable, breaking down those limitations we create in our mind. Breakfast, lunch, and a light evening meal are included in the training cost. All meals are mainly vegan, delicious, healthy, vegetarian, and include tofu dishes, brown rice, and fresh fruits. Sometimes there will be egg on the menu. The food is prepared without the use of monosodium glutamates. Any special diets like vegan and gluten intolerant can easily be catered for.
Sunday is a special yoga fast day, so there will be fruit only for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All trainees are encouraged to participate in the fast but if you do not wish to do so, you may organize and pay separately for any alternative meals you wish to eat.

You can book a bus service from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The ride takes 11 hours and costs less than the train service but expect a much more tiresome journey.
