Joanne has been sharing her humor, sense of vitality, creativity and yoga practice with people in Tulum since 2006. She combines her years of yoga instruction with a lifetime of body knowledge developed as a competitive athlete. Her life philosophy of cherishing each moment and oneself is evident in each of her practices, reminding others that each breath and each moment is a gift. Joanne is accredited to teach yoga by the AAAI / ISMA (American Aerobic Association International / International Sports Medicine Association) and recently a 100 Hour Yin Teacher Training, 2017
Yoga Alliance RYT 300 (Alive Yoga)
Daria found yoga more than 12 years ago and it has helped to heal her body, mind, and heart along the way of past injury. She has studied with Shiva Rea, Mathew Cohen, and Jorgen Christiansson in California and received her 300-hour Yoga Alliance certification from Daniel Aaron of radiantly Alive Yoga in Ubud, Bali. She teaches Restorative, Yin, and Children's yoga at Tribal.
Eugenia received her certification in Hatha yoga in 2006 and since 2009, her study and teaching are dedicated to the Iyengar method. She came to Tulum in 2014. In early 2015, she completed her grade II certification in the Iyengar tradition of yoga. She constantly updates her knowledge and teaching skills about the Iyengar method through workshops and seminars. Eugenia teaches Iyengar yoga five times a week at Tribal and one Saturday a month, she teaches a restorative Iyengar class. Tribal Yoga has wall-fitted ropes that are used in Eugenia’s classes to perfect the alignment in the asanas.
Flavio grew up in Mexico City with a passion for innovative ideas and extreme sports and, like many people, he began practicing yoga to cure an injured ankle in 2001 while he was studying industrial engineering. He was fascinated at the way the human body mimicked the industrial machines he was studying and through his Hatha yoga practice, he correlated the repair of his body to a technical repair like the restoration of a machine. Flavio was certified to teach in 2011 and shortly after, he came to the Mexican Caribbean and Tulum to find more yoga and balance in his life.
Iris completed her Sivananda yoga teacher training in 2001 in the Bahamas and has been teaching Hatha yoga ever since. She provides treatments, classes, and consultations in Ayurveda since graduating from California College of Ayurveda in 2005. She completed additional Ayurvedic studies at the Ayurvedic Institute in 2007 in New Mexico. Yoga and Ayurveda provided profound relief for Iris from chronic illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia from a young age.
Ricardo is from Northern Mexico, a small town called Tampico. He developed his love for bodily movement and the interaction between body and mind through martial arts, loving both the traditional aspect and the competition. He began yoga to improve his alignment in competitions and immediately fell in love with its focus on balancing body and mind. He is new to teaching yoga but an old soul with years in martial arts and the mind-body connection. He received his training in 2015 in Vinyasa flow at Yoga Dicha in Tulum, where he now lives.
Mariana moved to Tulum just three years ago from Guadalajara, Mexico. She studied yoga in Playa del Carmen and received her certification in Vinyasa flow from Alan Montaño. Developing a dedicated and constant practice showed her the internal and external changes yoga brought about in herself. Subsequently, she decided to share the yoga practice as a teacher. Mariana shows her students how yoga can help them live less accelerated lives and be in the moment, thus healing physical and emotional wounds.
Esteban started traveling abroad in 2007 as a musician. Finding himself always attracted to the sea, in 2013 he decided to settle in the Mayan Riviera and develop his passion for water. Continuing with this development he moved to Utila, Honduras in 2014 to become a dive master and a free diving instructor. Ever since he finished his training in 2015 he returned to his second home in Mexico and has been guiding people in open water using scuba gear and sharing his passion and knowledge of free diving with an ever growing population.
