Every day will start with a relaxing yoga session guided by an instructor, who will trek with you and your guide during the entire journey from the mythological Sherpa territory to see the magnificent Mount Everest and visit the ancient Tengboche monastery, stupas, and gompas along the way.

Education experience

You will learn to eat healthily, learn about holistic Tibetan therapies, focus on breathing, meditation while hiking and yoga techniques. Oh, and did we mention, all this while joining in one of the world’s most famous and beautiful treks?! You will also learn about the Sherpa-Tibetan lifestyle of Nepal through this cultural immersion experience. Find out why Nepali people are some of the world’s strongest, most agile climbers and athletes.

In these life-changing 15 days, you will learn a different sense of time and how less ticking of time is healthier for you and how life at the top of the world provides a new perspective on life.

Day 1 - Arrival to Kathmandu

Namaste and welcome to Nepal! A guide from the team will great you at the airport and take you to a local hotel in the tourist district of Thamel. There, you will find many shops and restaurants. There are also money exchanges and anything you might need to outfit your trek. Meet your guide and yoga guru.

Day 2 - Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2700 meters)

Trek to Phakding 2600, four hours and overnight. A spectacular flight and the famous landing on a steep mountain runway brings us to the start of our trek at the village of Lukla (2850 meters). From there, we head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail to our first stop at Phakding. Your afternoon will start with a yoga session and your evening will include the meditation. You have increased altitude dramatically, focus your awareness to this.

Day 3 - Phakding trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters)

Phakding trek to Namche Bazaar 3440 meters, six hours and overnight. We continue north following the Dudh Kosi river and on to Jorsale where we enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. From here, it is a short walk to the confluence of two rivers, the lmja Drangpa (Imja Khola) and the Nangpo Tsangpo (Bhote Kosi) followed by a steep climb (for about two hours) to Namche Bazaar, the main town in the Khumbu region. Namche is a prosperous Sherpa town and an important trading center with a weekly Saturday market.

In the afternoon, you will practice a yoga session. Your evening will include Tibetan medicine. You are in Sherpa country now. Sherpa means 'people of the east' in Tibetan. Introduction to ancient healing methods of this Tibetan culture.

Day 4 - Namche Bazaar (3450 meters)

Rest day and overnight. Namche Bazaar is tucked away between two ridges amongst the giant peaks of the Khumbu. Once named the Trekkers Mecca of Nepal, Namche now boasts an abundance of lodges and souvenir shops. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day, acclimatizing to the new altitude of 3450 meters before heading off towards Gokyo Lake.

Options for acclimatization walks include a visit to Khunde hospital and also the one hour walk up to the Everest Hotel above Namche for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest. Free day for sight-seeing and exploring Namche Bazaar. Your afternoon will be a yoga session and in the evening, you will practice meditation.

Day 5 - Dingboche trek to Lobuche (4930 meters)

We continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. We then turn right and climb more steeply towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. At the top of this climb, there are many stone cairns, built as memorials to the many Sherpas who have died while climbing Mount Everest. The path then climbs gently along the glacier to eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche.

In the afternoon, you will practice a yoga session. Your evening will be meditation. Today, we passed Cairns with stones representing the spirits of many Sherpa climbers. Consider the sacred path they take over this rock and ice. Animism is prevalent in Nepal, can you feel why? Are these mountains, rocks, trees alive? Feel the energy of this place.

Day 6 - Lobuche rest day

We have walked for almost one week already, slowly ascending in order to acclimatize well. We have a beautiful view from Lobuche and the Ama Dablam is seen in a different aspect here. The real top of Kantega is visible far to the left. The sunset on Nuptse (7879 meters) seen from Lobuje is a memorable sight. Your afternoon will be a yoga session and in the evening, you will relax with Tibetan singing bowls.

Day 7 - Labuche trek to Gorakshep (5170 meters)

We continue our trek along the Khumbu Glacier. We will reach our destination quiet early but you can spend the rest of the days for acclimatization and preparation for the next day adventure. This day, we will focus on adventure meditation. That is right! Nepal is one of the happiest places in the world. As you explore the village of Gorakshep, consider the people you meet.

They laugh, they smile, they love the harsh terrain of the high Himalaya. What do these Sherpa families know about life spirit? Your afternoon will follow the choice of the yoga guru while your evening will be decided by the guides.

Day 8 - Gorakshep Trek to Everest base camp (5300 meters)

The sunrise colors begin to appear on Everest. We make our way to the top of one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, Kala Pattar (5554 meters) then trek back to Gorakshep for the breakfast. We eat our breakfast and then continue to Everest Base Camp (5300 meters). Walk to base camp and back requires about five to six hours, following the Khumbu glacier, sometimes on moraine and sometimes on the glacier itself.

The walk is especially interesting for the views of the 15-meters high series of ice, a feature peculiar to Himalayan glaciers. The base camp of the highest mountain in the world is mostly inhabited by several expeditions all over the world. Back to Gorekshep for overnight. This is an especially spiritual day in the presence of Chomolungma - Goddess of the world's highest peak. You will practice yoga in the afternoon and meditation in the evening, focusing on the goddess of this mountain.

Day 9 - Gorapshep trek to Pheriche (4280 meters)

Today is downhill most of the way, as we retrace our steps to Duglha and descend to Pheriche. The Himalayan rescue association has a trekkers aid post here and it is quite interesting to visit. Your afternoon and evening include a yoga session and a Tibetan healing session.

Day 10 - Pheriche trek to Tengboche (3860 meters)

We continue to follow the river and, after crossing it, climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Tengboche. We have time for a visit to the ancient Tengboche monastery said to house the remains of a Yeti. The Yeti is considered sacred by the Sherpa people of the Solukhumbu. Your afternoon will be a yoga session while in the evening, you can choose between the monastery optional or meditation.

Day 11 - Tengboche trek to Namche Bazaar

From Tengboche, we descend to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi at Phunki where there are water driven prayer wheels, then climb, and contour around the hillside to Namche. In the afternoon, you will practice yoga. Your evening will be the meditation on prayer wheels. What they are, how to use them.

Day 12 - Namche Bazaar trek to Lukla (2840 meters)

From Namche Bazaar, the trail descends steeply to the village of Jorsale. Passing the villages of Phakding (2640 meters) and Choplung, we reach Chaunrikharka and the trail that cuts up to the airstrip at Lukla. Your afternoon and evening will be the yoga session and celebration with your new friends.

Day 13 - Lukla and fly to Kathmandu

In the early morning, you will fly to Kathmandu. You are free to tour around Kathmandu in the afternoon. The optional activity is visiting the home yoga studio of your guru.

Day 14 - Departure on to the home or other adventures

Our guides will help you get your taxi to the airport if you are going home. If you are going on to other adventures in Nepal, ask Trekt Himalaya about things to do. Yoga Trek Nepal is part of an adventure co-operative with activities all over Nepal.
