During this retreat, you will be staying at Maya Ubud Resort and Spa. Reached by a meandering driveway, enveloped on all sides by sympathetically styled jungle exotica, this resort brings you five-stars luxury with lashings of ancient Balinese style and provides the perfect location to set the scene for your own personal retreat revolution.

The Maya Ubud Resort and Spa rests on the banks of the Petanu River and is set in ten hectares of lush private valley a short distance from the center of Ubud. The design ethic embraces the traditional Balinese principle of lining up a village along a sacred north south axis, linking the god’s realm of the mountains in the centre of the island with the demons that live in the sea.

The roots of this are deep and primeval and there is a real sense of the architecture sensitively connecting with the landscape. Having said that, this hotel provides all the contemporary comfort and opulence that you can handle. There are two swimming pools, a spa, a choice of restaurants, a gym, the best tennis courts in Ubud, and free local shuttle buses.

There are two available accommodation options:

Superior room

This room is perfect for single or double occupancy and is light, bright, and spacious. It features either a king size bed or twin beds depending upon the preference of the guest and is fully air-conditioned. All the rooms have private balconies with those in the west wing overlooking the rice fields of Peliatan and those in the east wing looking out onto the river valley.

Amenities include an en-suite bathroom with a bath tub and an overhead shower, a hand shower and a vanity unit. Inside the room is a refrigerator with mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite television, international telephone, electronic safe, hairdryer, and Wi-Fi.

Superior garden villa

This room is the more extravagant option for single occupancy and perhaps the ideal choice for two friends sharing. Furnished with either a king size or a ‘Hollywood’ twin bed set, both with canopy drapes, these thatched cottages are fully air-conditioned, making them divine places to kick back and relax. These all include terraces where you can recline on the comfortable day beds and soak up the tranquility of your private tropical garden.

This bespoke, personalized approach will begin during your registration process. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. This will be followed by an online, face to face consultation dedicated to defining what you would like to focus on during the retreat and how the retreat can make this happen. Additionally, you will be advised on further work and treatments that will help you continue in your journey after you leave the retreat.

Once Transform Retreats have had a chance to evaluate you and confirm the facilitators’ best suited to you, the detailed schedule will be announced. This is because of Transform Retreats' deep commitment to providing the optimum experience for each individual.

However, you can expect five and a half days filled with inspiration, insight, and healing vitality. A typical day at the retreat starts with you waking up to the sounds of birds, Bali's nature, and smell of offerings before 07:00.

You will start the day with a beautiful one hour guided meditation (don’t worry if you have no meditation experience) or a 90 minutes gentle yoga class like Yin yoga, morning flow, or hormone balancing yoga. Again, don’t worry if you have no previous yoga experience, the amazing teachers will give you individual attention so you can make the most out of this experience.

After morning class, you will have beautiful buffet breakfast at Maya restaurant, enjoying a great choice of vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, lactose free, or regular Indonesian and western food.

At 10:00, you will have workshops and lectures in the cozy workshop space, surrounded by nature. Everyday, group workshops will be split into two sections: before lunch from 10:00 to 12:30, maximum 13:00 and after lunch, from 14:30 till 16:00.

The exact program will be announced closer to the date but you can expect amazing, transformational work including learning how to clear your core emotions and belief systems on subconscious level, reconnecting to your true self through breath work, grounding exercises for any situation, conscious movement, and dance practice to free your spirit or proper nutrition for your balanced emotions and hormones.

It’s very important that you leave this retreat with as many practical skills and tools as possible, so you will also be taught how the amazing properties of essential oils, alkaline water, and Balinese herbs are the basics of acupressure.

You will have one hour and a half to enjoy amazing lunch in the stunning Riverside Café, located directly at the river and next to magical Maya Spa. This will be a great time to enjoy beautiful food and nature, socialize with your group, or book your spa treatment for the evening.

From 16:00 to 17:30 daily, Transform Retreats will offer healing or coaching sessions - you will decide which will be more beneficial during pre-retreat evaluation. So on one of the days you will have a session scheduled in this time, during other days it will be your free time for resting, telexing, enjoying the swimming pool, and writing your journal.

Apart from the first night when the retreat will be opened with wise women circle and welcome dinner and the last night when you will be taken for a delicious celebration dinner in Ubud, the other four nights are free.

During this free time, you might want to enjoy a bit of Ubud by shopping and trying out the amazing food (there will be drivers ready to give you a lift to the center, it’s a ten minutes drive) or just relax in the resort (there are two restaurants in Maya Ubud as well) and have a spa treatment, rest, swim, or write your journal. It’s important to give yourself time to process and reflect on what you experienced during the day..

You are encouraged to go to bed no later that 22:00 to have a deep rest and wake up fresh for the next day at 06:30.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Ubud, Bali. Ubud is a small town thought to be the Indonesian island's spiritual and cultural heart, located deep in the mountainous center of Bali, among hanging banyan trees and lush rice paddies. With a name that comes from the Balinese word Ubad, which means medicine, Ubud has long been known as a mystical place, rich in healing powers.

Legend has it that as far back as the eighth century, royal families from across the island sent their ill to Ubud to be healed, and the tradition continues today - with people from all over the world arriving in hope of curing what ails them. In the intervening years, the region has also become a sought-after destination for spiritual tourists, as savvy yoga teachers brought students to find serenity in what was then a sleepy village.

Ubud is officially still a village, but in reality it has gone far beyond being just that. Condé Nast might have gone overboard in terms of scale when they declared Ubud the best city in Asia, yet this village-slash-town really can boast of plenty things to do for those seeking verdant fields, amazing nature, well-being, deep relaxation, different life styles, healing, and transformation. In short: nature, nurture, art, and culture.
