Come and join Tranquil Times Holistic Retreat for a wonderful week of yoga, holistic therapies, and healthy and delicious food in a relaxing rural location, close to the Black Sea beaches, near Varna. Enjoy the atmosphere of serenity and being in harmony with nature and take the opportunity to relax, restore, rejuvenate, and reconnect with your inner self.
The rooms have been individually designed with attention to detail and your comfort in mind. Light and airy bedrooms are located in the bungalow by the pool and also on the top floor of the main house. There is also a communal kitchen and lounge with a double sofa bed.
The holiday includes two classes a day, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, (except for lunch and dinner where you go out and sample the local cuisine). Tranquil Times Holistic Retreats is specialized in tailoring programs to your individual requirements to give you the ultimate holistic experience. Classes are suitable for all ages and beginner and intermediate levels.
On your retreat, you will learn and practice various aspects of yoga - asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), deep relaxation, and meditation at your own pace and within your own range. Morning classes are slightly more dynamic in order to energize and revitalize, as well as relax, while the late afternoon classes offer a variety of yoga styles each day.
Classes are small and informal so there will be plenty of time for individual attention and to concentrate on poses suitable for you and your body and those that you feel challenging and wish to work on.
Over the years, resident instructor Jo has practiced and studied various diverse styles of yoga and has been influenced by the correct alignment that Iyengar yoga teaches, the breath synchronized flowing movements of Vinyasa with its sun salutation variations, and Viniyoga with its individualistic approach and gentle flow.
Her main influences in recent years are Vinyasa flow combined with Qigong. Jo has realized more than ever that her students need to slow down, so restorative and yin have become more important. Her classes have a lovely flowing sequence and incorporate aspects from many of the above styles of yoga, suitable for beginners and the more experienced. Clear and precise cues are given with a trauma-informed lens.
Meditation expands awareness and develops calmness, serenity, and focus, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of our inner nature. Meditation also has much to offer as a tool for enhancing concentration, willpower, and resistance to stress.
It allows us to ride the waves of life without being disturbed by them. The meditation techniques are taught systematically, and over the course of the week may cover body and breath awareness, chakras, healing and inner observation.
Jo's passion for yoga began in her teenage years, offering solace and relaxation amid her busy career. For over a decade, she has organized successful international retreats and classes, consistently enhancing her expertise in the healing arts. Jo is a highly experienced Yoga Alliance certified teacher (RYT500 and ERYT200), a continued education provider, a Medical Intuitive, a Reiki master teacher, and a Sound healer. Additionally, she has qualifications in Nutrition for health promotion and disease prevention, CBT, and Curative Hypnotherapy.
Tranquil Times Retreat is located in Sadovo, an authentic Bulgarian village. The venue is nestled in a valley surrounded by vineyards, forest and beautiful countryside which is part of the Kamchia Nature Reserve. Situated just a short 25-minute drive from Varna city center, the sea capital of Bulgaria, you will find the retreat easily accessible.

Vegetarians and non-vegetarians are equally welcome at this yoga retreat. At Tranquil Times, their home-cooked meals are lovingly prepared with fresh, natural ingredients, free from any artificial preservatives. They have realized that food is an important part of your holiday, which is why a weekly menu is designed depending on the guests' needs.
They serve predominantly vegetarian cuisine, but may include fish once or twice a week and occasionally chicken. Incorporating international cuisine, they believe strongly in the healing power of subtle herbs and spices.
Breakfast consists of homemade granola, fresh fruit salad, Bulgarian bio yogurt, freshly baked bread/toast, local village honey, and homemade preserves. A light salad-based lunch is served early afternoon and in the evening you will have a 2-course meal, usually consisting of starter and main, however, there will be 2 dark chocolate desserts a week to boost those serotonin levels.
Bottled water, coffee, and various teas are included in your package and they welcome you to pick fresh herbs from their garden to make your own herbal blends. They also offer wine or beer with the evening meals and operate an honesty bar to cover these extra costs.
Food is fuel for your body and with correct portion control they find those that need to lose or gain weight do so in a healthy way. They have their own organic vegetable and herb gardens, over 30 fruit and nut trees, and free-range eggs from their hens.
They recognize and appreciate the effects various food have on an individual’s body. For this reason, they also offer gluten and dairy-free options.
Please do note that they may not have quite the same choice of products in Bulgaria as in your home country. If you suffer from any allergies or intolerances, you’ll have the chance to tell or discuss it with them before booking by sending an inquiry.

Please arrive at Varna Airport (VAR). The transfer from and to the airport can be organized by Tranquil Times Holistic Retreat. The return cost of the single transfer is approximately 35 GBP if traveling alone, less if sharing with other course participants. You can also arrive at Burgas Airport (BOJ) and the cost of the single transfer is approximately 65 GBP each way or alternatively rent a car to arrive at Tranquil Times Holistic Retreat. There are also many cheap flights to Sofia and then take a 50-minute internal flight to Varna.
Varna International Airport is 35 minutes away from the retreat venue, with Bourgas International Airport as the next closest airport at 1.5 - 2 hours away. They both offer direct flights from regional airports in most European countries, including Scandinavia and the Middle East.
There are daily internal flights from Sofia to Varna operated by Bulgaria Air and a good network of trains and coaches within the country and down the Black Sea coast to Istanbul. Many long haul guests fly via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines.
Once you land, Tranquil Times will be happy to arrange transfers with their driver from the airport to the retreat or supply you with information on public transport or directions if you are coming by road.
