Expert tip: This is one of the most popular yoga retreats offered in Dominican Republic.
Train your aerial skills with an aerial hoop or silks while getting your stretch and flow on with yoga in this yoga and aerials retreat. This retreat is perfect for the future aerialist who wants to also improve their yoga practice and focus on flexibility and flow throughout their training.
The accommodation options are on private room and double room basis. The beach-front accommodations will be at eXtreme Hotel. The hotel is one of the leading ecologically sustainable small hotels in the Caribbean. eXtreme is more than just an adventure sports and fitness hotel, it is a place where the values of sustainable and ecological tourism are forefront, the community is thriving, and the keywords are evolution and fun. The eXtreme Hotel is the perfect place to meet amazing people and have an incredible holiday in tropical paradise.
During this half day experience you will learn about aquaponics and sustainable agriculture, as well as get you into the local culture of rural Dominican Republic. The Taino Organic Farm grows a variety of fruit, vegetables, and super foods which you’ll be able to taste fresh off the trees during your tour.
After the farm tour, be ready to head down to the beautiful Yasica River. The cooling fresh waters will be your guide as you float peacefully downstream from 1 to 2 hours. Adventurists are invited to scramble up a jungle side cliff and jump from an overhanging tree into the crystal waters below. Afterwards you’ll enjoy a lunch prepared from fresh organic produce.
Chrissy Lefavour began teaching yoga in 2012 and continued to teach Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Kids yoga. She completed her RYT 500-hour certification in early 2014. In addition to teaching classes around Central Vermont, Chrissy became involved with yoga with horses, SUP yoga, and leading yoga retreats internationally. A born traveler, Chrissy brought her first group of yogis to the Dominican Republic in 2016 and was immediately in love with the combination of yoga, Caribbean lifestyle, fresh food, and the amazing activities offered at The Yoga Loft, Cabarete.
Growing up, playing basketball and swimming, I always had an interest in fitness and health. I loved the feeling of being connected and at ease with my body. In 2015, I underwent open-heart surgery and found myself longing for a way to reconnect with all parts of my being. Yoga has helped me heal and helped me find inner strength. I completed my 200 Hour Teacher Training at the Goodyoga yoga school in Brooklyn, NY, with a focus on Alignment and Anatomy followed by a 300HR advanced teaching mentorship. I strive to encourage my students to listen to their bodies as they move towards growth.
Marcos Martinez is a circus professional, trained in the arts of flying trapeze, single and double trapeze, silks, spanish web, rope, hoop and trampoline with intensive training in stretching and conditioning. In 2011, it was at the eXtreme Hotel, that Marcos was introduced to the circus lifestyle by circus veteran, Paul Roberts. If he had to chose, the adrenaline of flying trapeze makes it his favorite circus medium. In his own words: “ I enjoy sharing the knowledge of the sport and love the mechanics of teaching to absolute beginners as well as advanced students.”
The retreat will be held in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Cabarete is best known as one of the world’s meccas for kite boarding. The sport is popular due to the consistent winds nearly year round, so it is one of the best places to learn, practice, and perfect the sport. Cabarete however, has so much to offer beyond kiting.
It also is a fantastic surf location for both beginners and advanced surfers with waves reaching double overhead in the fall when the wind dies down. Most of the breaks are coral based, making the perfect formation when the conditions are right. Cabarete also has horseback riding, beautiful lagoons for paddle boarding, and waterfalls to be explored.
Due to the active, modern community who frequents Cabarete, the town is full of healthy eating options, ecological businesses, and sustainable tourism. Cabarete is home to a lively international community that supports local development through private business operations and non-government organizations.
The center of Cabarete is full of international restaurants, bars, live music venues, and much more. The Yoga Loft believes in living a balanced life, so for those who enjoy the nightlife as well as the day, you would not be short of options.
All breakfasts and dinners are included in the retreat. The Yoga Loft believes that how you feed your body is as much of a part of a yogic life as breathing. The food served is made from organic, natural, farm fresh, and unaltered ingredients supplied by the Yoga Loft's own Taino organic farm.
The menu is carefully planned to provide fuel and energy to your body to keep it running at its top level. Every bit of food is prepared with love and will be enjoyed with just as much zealous pleasure as that with which it was created. The Yoga Loft can cater to vegetarians and those on gluten and lactose restricted diets, however, they do not have the ability to cater to vegans or raw foodies yet.
