The Travel Yogi's base in Reykjavik will serve as your retreat home as well as practice space. A beautiful hardwood floored studio awaits you for your morning and evening yoga practices while the kitchen produces delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

Atrium rooms

Atrium rooms offer the same comforts as the superior executive room with a few differences. Atrium rooms look towards the spacious and natural light-filled lobby area and are slightly smaller than the executive ones. Atrium rooms can accommodate twin beds for roommates and are a wonderfully comfortable alternative to the executive rooms.

Executive rooms

Executive rooms offer comfort with Scandinavian luxury. Clean, crisp rooms with large bathrooms lull each yogi to sleep. Bask in the thoughtful extras of heated towel racks (a welcome luxury), long tubs, and deep, comfortable beds.

The retreat's schedule will vary slightly based on the weather. The final version will be distributed about a month prior to departure. The schedule below gives you an overall picture of what your retreat in Iceland will look like.

Day 1

You will arrive early in the morning in Iceland. The transfer to Reykjavik will take about one hour and then you will drop your bags off at the hotel. You will rejuvenate with a full breakfast and take a few moments to relax before heading out for a walking foodie tour in Reykjavik. Afterwards, you may wander downtown or directly stroll back and check in to your room. You will have your first yoga class in the evening followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 2

You will start your day with an early morning yoga session and a big buffet breakfast. Grab a layer or two, camera, and your sunglasses for a full day and locally guided Golden Circle adventure. You will visit Gullfoss (the Golden Falls), Geysirand Stokkur’s natural spring eruptions, and Thingvellir, Iceland’s national shrine and world heritage site. After the tour, you will head back for an evening yoga session and chill out during the group dinner.

Day 3

You will start your day with an early morning yoga session and a group buffet breakfast. You will have a free day to explore at your leisure. You might want to walk downtown to explore the surroundings, head out to see the countryside on an Icelandic horse, or book a day trip to the south coast. You may also be interested in checking out the Iceland Phallological Museum. In the evening, you will head back for a yoga session and group dinner.

Day 4

You will start your day with an early morning yoga session and a group buffet breakfast. Get your grubbies on for caving and swimsuits and towel for the Blue Lagoon. Explore the amazing aesthetics of Iceland’s caves and prepare to get your spelunking on. After a morning of caving, you will set off to the Blue Lagoon to soak it all out. You will head back feeling rejuvenated for the early evening yoga session. For this day, you also have the option to stay in and relax at the hotel or head out to the town for dinner.

Day 5

You will start your day with an early morning yoga session and a group buffet breakfast. Spend a restful or adventurous day around town getting ready for the evening adventure. In the evening, you will have the usual yoga session and a group dinner. Make sure to fill up because you will have a big night out to watch the aurora borealis. Layer up, grab your camera, and together you will head out in a heated van to watch the northern lights.

Day 6

You will have a slightly later morning yoga and breakfast at the hotel. This will be your last day to explore Reykjavik, sample the local cuisine, and get your puffin stuffed dolls. In the early evening, you will have a yoga class and closing circle before enjoying your final group dinner.

Day 7

Have your last breakfast in Ireland and say goodbye to everyone before departing and heading to the airport.

Things to do (optional)

Between yoga, the full days of included excursions, and chilling with new friends, there is a ton to do on this amazing island. Plug the locals for fun excursions and check out the additional awesome adventures. Please note that the weather does play a part in some of the excursions, so yogi flexibility (pun always intended) is always appreciated.

The options below would be at an additional cost but there is more than enough fun and quirky adventure to be had by strolling Reykjavik or hopping on a bike from the hotel. In particular, a trip to the top of the Hallgrmskirkja offers unbeatable views and can help you spot your next destination: Bjarins Beztu Pylsur, also known as "the best hot dog in town." Hot dogs are something of a national obsession, so if you're willing, it's definitely something to experience.

Icelandic horse ride

Enjoy a ride on the unique and endemic Icelandic horse. Ride to the hot springs, the mountains, the beach, take a short ride, or spend the day. You're guaranteed to leave with a respect for this unique breed (and when you see them don't call them ponies) and memories of the countryside you'll never forget.

Imagine Peace Tower

Created by Yoko Ono and dedicated on October 9th, 2007 (John Lennon's 67th birthday), the Icelandic Imagine Peace tower is a beacon of light from the depths of a wishing well. The light from the tower is constantly in flux due atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland.

National Museum of Iceland

Explore the culture and history of Iceland through their permanent and traveling exhibitions. Entrance fee is 13 USD per person.

Snfellsnes National Park

Spend the day touring through Icelandic history and the gorgeous scenery of Snfellsnes. Whether photographing the scenery, gathering the folklore, and visiting historic Icelandic spots, the best of this national park will be in your camera and your heart. Price starts at 130 USD per person.

South coast (glacier hiking and snowmobiling option)

Set out for a day of adventuring and unbelievable sightseeing. Get up close and personal to Slheimajkull glacier (you can choose to glacier hike or snowmobile depending on the weather) and climb up, around and above the Seljalandsfoss and Skgafoss waterfalls. Cruise by the infamous Eyjafjallajkull volcano and climb and wonder at the amazing basaltic rock pillars on the black sand beach near Vik. Price starts at 110 USD per person.
