This yoga retreat will be nothing short of a life-changing experience. It will be a trip to a magical and mystical land, in the country that measures its gross national happiness. Your guide will introduce you to this land, its topography, historical treasures, spiritual wealth, and hike through incredible views and experience the country, as well as daily doses of rigor and the outdoors. This mind-body-spirit connection is the secret to the happiness Bhutan is known for, and so will you.
Yogis looking to book a double occupancy rate but traveling solo will need to notify The Travel Yogi. All efforts will be made to match solo travelers with a roommate of the same gender in order to ensure the double occupancy rate.
If, however, a roommate cannot be found by the final payment date, the single occupancy rate will apply. If a roommate is found after the final payment at the single occupancy rate has been made, The Travel Yogi will happily refund the difference between double and single occupancy for that particular trip. The Travel Yogi makes no promise or guarantee of a roommate on any given retreat.
You will be spending three nights in Thimpu. Nested on the bank of the Thimphu Chu river, your first nights in Bhutan are a blend of natural beauty and modern comforts. Soak up river views at meal times which feature Thai, Chinese, Indian, and continental cuisine as well as traditional Buddhist dishes.
If you can, find some free time to try your hand at Bhutan's national sport on their archery field during the day and sit by the fire and enjoy the stars by night.
You will be spending three nights in Punakha. From the river, you will head to the forest and gorgeous views of the Punakha Valley below. Contemporary design melds perfectly with cultural aesthetics from the quiet reception to the simple luxury of the rooms with their individual meditation-inspiring balconies.
Floor to ceiling windows create a view that enhances the local and organic cuisine from a menu that boasts Thai, Western, and Bhutanese options.
You will also be spending three nights in Paro. The Bhutanese art and culture are felt from the colors and woodwork of the awe-inspiring reception hall to the subtle accents in each room of this five-star, wholly Bhutanese owned, boutique hotel.
Spacious rooms, all with sitting areas and balconies, include the modern comforts of Wi-Fi and heated floors for a luxury in-room experience while a temple, built from the 450-year-old timber of the Gangtey Monastery, on the second floor, and an outdoor meditation and separate tea house complete the beauty outdoors.
This Bhutan yoga adventure will take place across Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. All of which will weave together the best of the country’s culture and nature as you explore the ancient fortresses and temples, mingle with monks and hang prayer flags, ride the rapids, and discover the significance of the native takin. By limiting the number of tourist visas issued each year, Bhutan is one of the few countries able to sustain their endemic culture while welcoming in the wider world.
The result is a moving feast of culture, nature, and local infectious smiles. Bring your sense of wonderment and humor as you travel alongside the inspiring locals who measure their life and success by their gross national happiness, and call the awe-inspiring Land of the Thunder Dragon home.
All meals are included in this retreat. You will be served breakfast in your hotels, lunches in local eateries and picnics, and dinners in local restaurants or at the hotels.
Please book your flight to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, Thailand. You will then fly into Paro Airport (PBH) from Bangkok. The flight from Bangkok to Bhutan is included in the price.
