      I’ve just spent a divine week at the Smiling Oak Tree. The location was ideal. It was easy to fly into FCO Rome and Elena helped me book a car from the airport to the retreat. I wanted to be away from the city surrounded by nature and I loved the house. The quaint and rustic home is nestled between rolling hills, and horse stables, that provide peaceful hikes worth exploring. The type of yoga Elena shares is Sivananda, yoga. Yogis of all levels can practice Sivananda yoga because of its easy-going pace and style. The style remains the same, so it was also a treat to become more familiar with the routine. There was a good balance between meditation, the specific breathing exercises and the asanas (physical postures). The price was absolutely reasonable. There were many opportunities for more self-development such as Reiki, or an NLP coaching session along with wonderful Ayurvedic massages treatments. It was exactly what I desired in a yoga retreat. I am so grateful that I chose this yoga retreat. The 7 days spent in Campagnano was absolutely divine. Thank you to Elena and her kind and caring staff in beautiful Italy.

      I loved the Smiling Oak! It was a home away from home; Elena is a wonderful person and she took care of everyone thoroughly. The vegetarian food served was absolutely delicious! I have returned as a much calmer person. I am already planning to return next year

      I had a truly wonderful stay at Smiling Oak. I would definitely recommend it and will probably go back there myself. I was in desperate need of some rest and relaxation when I arrived and I left completely renewed. The yoga and meditation was fantastic and Elena is a truly wonderful yoga teacher. My yoga improved massively in just a few days. I also took advantage of an Ayurvedic massage and a couple of Reiki sessions, which also enhanced my stay. Though a committed carnivore, I really enjoyed the delicious home-cooked vegetarian meals provided for us and felt that a week of this diet was a key element of my feeling so good at the end of my stay. Elena is a wonderful host and an inspiring lady and I felt privileged to benefit from her yoga tuition, her Reiki and also her stimulating conversation over our lovely meals. So happy to have discovered this gem of a place and have already recommended it to a few people.

      What an amazing experience we had at the smiling oak! The villa was beautiful with such amazing scenery it was so peaceful and calming. Elena was such an inspirational yoga instructor and helped me and my girlfriend to improve our yoga skills so much. She was so kind and we had so much fun with Elena during our stay there. The food was so delicious and we looked forward to every meal during our stay. I would recommend staying here to anyone and will definitely be returning in the future.

      A week of meditation, yoga, fresh air and healthy food was just what I needed.

      Elena is a fabulous instructor and a great host. She is fluent in Italian, French and English (and possibly even more languages). She met me at the train station, organised a remedial massage one afternoon, gave me advice on local walking trails, dropped me in a nearby village for sightseeing and lunch one day, organised a car to the airport - nothing was too much trouble.

      I would happily recommend Smiling Oak - and I hope to return!

      The retreat at Smiling Oak was fantastic! Elena is a perfect host, with her amazing helpers and a gang of most friendly dogs! Sivananda yoga classes, vegetarian food and the area itself are full with good energy and the seven days charged me with great vibe. I would also recommend the horse riding lessons!

      I spent a week at The Smiling Oak in March 2016 and really can't recommend it highly enough. Elena, the owner is a lovely host and good yoga instructor, with a knowledgeable, encouraging and kind manner. I was really out of practice but I made great progress during my time there and feel inspired to keep the practice up. The food was also great and wonderfully healthy, cooked with great care for people like myself with food tolerances that usually make travel a little challenging.

      The setting of the retreat is a treat and the yurt in which the classes take place was an ideal venue. Even in the mildly chilly March weather we were cosy inside with the yurts wood burning stove and fireplaces inside the house. I hope to get back there for another retreat soon!

      Smiling Oak ist ein zauberhafter Ort. Es hat eine Atmosphäre von Ruhe und Gelassenheit. Alleine schon der Platz strahlt Kraft aus. Auftanken ist kein „ausgelutschtes“ Wort mehr, sondern kann dort wirklich körperlich erlebt werden. Elena – die Besitzerin und Yoga und Meditationslehrerin – ist eine großartige Frau, die es geschafft hat einen offenen Rahmen zu bieten, in dem sich verschiedene „Geister“ bewegen können. Sie unterrichtet Yoga mit Freude und Ruhe, so dass diese Qualitäten auch auf die Ausübenden über gehen können. Es bietet durch die 2 Yoga und Meditationseinheiten pro Tag die passende Übungseinheiten. Auch für Anfänger, wie wir es sind, ist das Shivananda Yoga sehr gut geeignet um für sich selbst abzuklären, ob Yoga und Mediation auch künftig ins eigene Leben passen kann. Es ist unglaublich gemütlich am Pool zu faulenzen, im Anschluss die eine oder andere Stadt mit historischem Charakter zu besichtigen. Die 3 Mahlzeiten pro Tag sind im Preis inbegriffen und ich vermisse bereits das gute Essen, sowie die anregenden Gespräche mit Elena und den anderen Yoginis oder solche die es noch werden wollen. Nicht zu vergessen: Elena spricht neben ihrer Muttersprache Italienisch, auch fließend Englisch, sehr gut Französisch und auch Spanisch.

      This is a very relaxing place on a quiet country road. The only sound was the cicadas. Since there are only a few rooms, we had the swimming pool practically to ourselves. The room was well furnished, the bed was comfortable. It's family-run and the atmosphere is very friendly. Lunch is served on a percolated terrace overlooking rolling hills. You can enjoy nice walks or bike rides.

      If you are walking through via Francigena, this is a must stop. If you are travelling around Italy, and heading into Rome, this is a must stop. Smiling Oak is a beautiful villa, a stone's throw from Rome.A warm welcome and beautiful rooms. Swimming pool and gardens with a view of the surrounding countryside. Elena and her small team are the most perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Peaceful, relaxing, perfect.
