Nothing but praise for the whole deal. Jackie and Stephen made us feel very welcome and over a complimentary coffee, they gave us the lowdown of all interesting venues in the area. (saw whales close in at De Hoop). The rooms were warm, perfect and spotless with free minibar as a complimentary. Liked the touch of the decanters of port and sherry. Breakfasts were great alongside the beautiful eco pool which I hope we get the chance to use in summer. Sauna and Jacuzzi were used in the Wallow on both nights - perfect. Children loved the Jacuzzi. The staff were very polite and friendly ensuring my car was washed every morning. Great garden with birds in the bird feeders. We will be back - excellent value for money. Definitely five-star!

The Hideaway is a beautiful place to stay, rooms and bathrooms are large and clean, free minibar is an added bonus. Gardens and swimming pool are great. But when we arrived after a long journey we were told we had come the wrong way, our travel agents should have told us to stay longer, we had missed the best road in the Cape and that there was nothing to do at the place we were going to next, this slightly took the shine off our day, all we wanted to do was to get to our room and then have a swim, after a 45-minute lecture we finally made it. Don't get me wrong, as I have already said this is a beautiful place to stay and Stephen and Jackie are both helpful, they booked a restaurant for us, homemade lemonade and biscuits were provided on arrival and all the little extras are very good, it is just that they try too hard and you are sometimes made to feel like naughty school children. When you have spent a lot of time and money arranging a holiday you want to relax and not be told you have done a lot of things wrong, helpful suggestions would go down better.

We arrived after a long journey, and were welcomed with home made drinks and refreshments. This was followed by a lengthy lecture by Stephen on the locality, which was interesting, but all we wanted was to get to our rooms and have a shower. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, and with amazing bathrooms. We did have a problem with the bath flooding the floor, and although Stephen promised to fix it on a couple of occasions, he forgot and my wife never had the bath she was looking forward to. The free minibar was most welcome, and the bed very comfortable. The gardens and the wild life added to the enjoyment. The breakfast was also absolutely amazing, although once again the owners went to great length to explain the food available. We went for the welcome drink on our first night, which was a good opportunity to meet the other guests. On the second night, we decided to skip this as we wanted to eat a bit earlier, which did not go down too well with Stephen. I feel very sad that this comes over as being critical of the owners, Stephen in particular, as they are only trying to make their bed and breakfast above the average, which it most definitely is. Would we go again? Most certainly as this was by far the best bed and breakfast we stayed in. Thank you Stephen and Jacqie and your lovely staff. Hope to see you again.
