This retreat is a deeply integrated journey into the alchemy of yoga and plant spirit shamanism combining two ancient wisdom paths in a safe and focused way to access deep healing and transformation. This all-inclusive retreat includes 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies and daily yoga instruction. The practice will focus on exploring contemplation of nature and the elements, shamanic wisdom and yogic philosophy to weave together the retreat content with the jungle environment.

Accommodation

All guests will be accommodated in their own private casitas, with a single bed, hammock and mosquito net. These huts are designed for you to be safe and comfortable yet feel connected to the jungle.

The Garden of Peace Peru Yoga Retreat Program

This retreat is all inclusive from the moment The Garden of Peace meets you in Tarapoto to the moment they drop you back. Transport to and from the retreat is provided as they are located in a remote location. They meet guests in the main town of Tarapoto which receives domestic flights from Lima.

The entire 10-day retreat is based on site in the jungle with a clean river for swimming and walking trails for exploring between class and ceremony. The program will draw on elements of Hatha, Vinyasa, and Tantric Yoga with a strong focus on connections to the natural world as a source of meditation and insight.

You will explore shamanic concepts from the Amazonian plant medicine tradition and look at the meeting points which occur within yogic philosophy. You will create space for innovation and creativity while remaining centered in our hearts and the guiding principles of Raja yoga.

The schedule will vary depending on when you have Ayahuasca ceremony of which there will be 4 in the 12 days but the typical schedule should be like this:

Instructors

Lara Charlotte
Lara is originally from New Zealand. She is the co-founder of the Garden of Peace and along with her team manages the overall operations of the center. She is a dedicated student of both shamanic plant medicine and yoga, ceremonial facilitator and enthusiastic cook who loves sharing the super foods of the jungle with her guests. Lara practices Reiki, Yoga, Pranic Healing and reads Tarot. She loves Hip Hop, Jazz, good food and all things mystical.
Rowan Arahia
Rowan Arahia is a New Zealand based Yogi and Kai-mirimir (Maori intuitive healer), bodyworker and counsellor. Having completed teacher trainings in Bikram and Hatha Vinyassa Yoga she has also studied Yoga Therapy designed to work with trauma-sensitive people and environments. Rowan holds a Bachelor of Political Science and a Masters of Indigenous Studies. She believes in empowering all of the people she works with, showing them genuine positive regard so that they feel truly seen and heard and are able to connect with their own internal resources, moving towards a life that is meaningful t
Vilma Mahua Campos
Dona Vilma Mahua Campos will be the lead Curandera for our ayahuasca ceremonies during this retreat. Vilma is a Shipibo healer trained in the Noya-Rao lineage and comes from a highly regarded family of healers. Her powerful and loving force comes through in the ceremonies she holds as well as her daily presence during retreats. We are deeply honoured to work with her.

Retreat location

The Garden of Peace is located in North West Peru. The closest major city is approximately 2 hours from The Garden of Peace and is called Tarapoto. In Tarapoto there is a domestic airport connecting with daily flights from Lima, Iquitos and other major Peruvian centres.

All food will be provided. The food is vegetarian / vegan-friendly and in line with Ayahuasca and yogic principles. You will be served with two main meals a day and snacks including super food smoothies.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
