The FrogS’House has been designed to provide a caring and confident atmosphere allowing personal and intimate interactions between guests and hosts. It is a space to take a break from your daily life, catch up with your breath, and connect with your own strength and inner self. The intention is for you to leave this place with a feeling of home, warmth, and love. They offer a complete program. Yoga and meditation sessions are combined with walks in nature, cooking classes, non-violent communication (NVC), and personal development workshops.
During your stay, you will be accommodated in one of the six rooms with a private bathroom at the FrogS'House. The FrogS’House is a guest house nowadays specialized in yoga holidays and retreats. It is situated in the heart of Saint Jeannet, a medieval village perched on the hills above Nice, only 20 kilometers away from the famous French Riviera. Since 2006, they are eager to share this magical place with you. It is a space where you will be able to relax, recharge yourself, and find out who you truly are, and what you really want.
The house is a former hotel transformed into a warm and comfortable retreat center with its own yoga shala. There are two options of single or double occupancy rooms, each with a private bathroom overlooking the hills or with a balcony and sea view. In the case that all rooms are occupied at the FrogS'House, they can arrange alternative accommodation nearby so that you can still join the retreat and participate in all the activities. You will, of course, be welcome to use the common rooms of the FrogS'House in the same way as all the other participants.
The FrogS'House created a program that lasts for a whole week in order to offer their guests enough time to find the perfect balance between the yoga sessions, the cultural activities, moments of sharing with the teachers and with other guests, as well as time on their own. This is why it is really advised to arrive on Sundays and start the retreat from the beginning to get the full benefit from it and feel the natural progression. Excursions on arrival and departure days are not included in the prices given.
However, you are very welcome to join in, if your timing allows it: arrival before 10:00 a.m. or departure after 5:00 p.m. The cost will be extra, please consult them. Benoit has been inspired and still is, by a French spiritual teacher named Jean Klein, who has transmitted his own experience of yoga to many disciples, with whom he continues to learn more and more deeply each time he manages to attend their workshops. This type of yoga is also known as Yoga du Cachemire. It is a very meditative yoga that allows you to get deeper and deeper into some subtle feelings, both physically but also energetically.
To do so, you have to first manage to put that little voice of yours that constantly make comments, criticism, judgment into observation and let yourselves become totally open to the here and now to the proposition of the moment, to what is happening in your own body and your own mind, and let it be, by a simple, but profound, observation. To make it short, the yoga he likes to share is of being, not of doing. Sarah, Carline, and Jean, qualified teachers, will assist Benoit to lead the daily sessions. Sarah and Carline, both with their own style, will share Hatha yoga sessions, more or less based on internal listening.
Jean is a certified Ashtanga teacher, a more dynamic and physical yoga style. They all do their best to guide and listen to everyone’s needs and at the same time maintain harmony in the whole group. The FrogS'House keeps the right to modify this program according to weather conditions and unexpected events beyond their control but also to adapt it according to the energy of each group. On the arrival day, rooms will be available from 3:00 p.m. They will be happy to store your luggage until then if you wanted to arrive earlier that day.
Please be aware that if they were not home at your time of arrival, a note will wait for you on the front door, with the code to enter the house and instructions to find your room easily, so that way you can arrive anytime you want. Your Wednesday brunch is the time for sharing about yoga, meditation, or following the inspiration of the moment and the needs of everybody. From 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday is time for your yoga and relaxation. It takes 15 minutes to drive to join Jean in his yoga studio in La Gaude, for a Yin yoga session followed by one of his relaxing sound baths.
Just let your body be touched and travel with the vibrations of Tibetan and crystal bowls, ancient gongs, and other different and original instruments who knows which effect these almost magical instruments will have on you. During your free time, you can enjoy a massage, a lunch in one of the local restaurants, meditate at your own rhythm, or wander around the picturesque streets of St Jeannet, why not following Cyrielle’s treasure hunt to discover the secret of the Alchemist. You will have the chance to join a workshop about medicinal and aromatic plants and a discussion about nutrition (optional).
Through daily yoga or meditation practice and outdoor or cultural activities, you will be able to reconnect to your body as much as to your soul. Every session is an opportunity to practice mindfulness. Come back to yourself, deeply listen to what is, here and now, in order to become more present and discover more and more who you truly are and what you really want in your life. When physical tensions are perceived and welcomed as they are, real relaxation can occur. Physical relaxation but also psychological, which opens a space where emotions and unconscious fears can be revealed and released.
There is no level required here. The invitation during those yoga sessions is to mainly listen and observe the feeling of the moment, both physically and mentally. So either you have been practicing for a long time or not, it does not matter. Beginners or regular practitioners, everyone is welcome. Make sure that you are willing to eventually experience a new approach, a new practice, and maybe explore your own being even more. Hopefully, a better understating of oneself, and of the world, will come out.
You will join one cooking session with Noel Picard, a professional French chef, in an open kitchen, using fresh local and organic products. A moment to discover or rediscover the pleasure and the joy of cooking together and bring more mindfulness to nourish both your physical body and your mind.
Please note on Sunday that rooms should be freed by 10:00 a.m. to allow cleaning for the next retreat. They will be happy to store your luggage if you wanted to leave later that day. Possibility to extend your stay if required, please consult them.
Following the philosophy of the Buddhist Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, let each one of your steps deepen yourself into the present moment.
This walking day will take place in the surrounding hills called 'Baou' to reach the top of the hill for a shared homemade picnic lunch (made with local and organic products) and a fantastic view over the whole French Riviera and the Southern Alps.
An aquatic walk, taking you into a gorge or canyon, to walk along, and sometimes into a river. Waterfalls and fresh water ponds will be the highlights of the day to jump and swim, a perfect activity during those warm summer months.
This is a new opportunity to deepen yourselves into the present moment by meditation walk toward a 1000-year-old oak trees forest. You will start the day by a 30-minute drive with a nine-seat minivan on small roads off the beaten path to reach the Domaine des Courmettes, a protected area that offers a stunning view over the whole Mediterranean coast.
You will then walk into a forest to meet green oak trees which have been living there for more than 1000 years. You will have a tea break to enjoy the view and for leisure talk about the philosophy of yoga. On the way back, if time allows, you will make a stop at the famous Chapelle du Rosaire in Vence built by Henri Matisse.
Today, you will transfer with a minivan to Antibes, one of the nicest cities of the French Riviera, famous for its medieval old town and the Picasso museum. It is time to have lunch in one of many restaurants of the city (vegetarian or vegan, gluten-free restaurants available), wandering through the local markets and the colorful neighborhood of the Safranier. You can enjoy one of the best ice creams of the Côte d’Azur and relax on the cute and cozy beach of la Gravette, taking a swim in the Mediterranean Sea.
Benoit has been practicing yoga and meditation on a regular basis since 2010, soon after he met his actual spiritual teacher, Somasekha ROS. He has graduated from Yog Nisarga International Training School for his 200H-TTC, and from Sampoorna Yoga School for his 300H-TTC, both based in India, where he traveled to attend the training to become a fully qualified yoga teacher. Both centers are certified by Yoga Alliance, the largest non-profit association representing the yoga community whose mission is to promote and support the integrity and diversity of the teaching of yoga.
Jean specializesd in Ashtanga yoga. He has also followed a long training to give Tibetan bowls massages. He started his yoga practice in India in the city of Calcutta 15 years ago. His philosophy is based on the idea that through the practice of yoga, you can live your lives in a better way, reduce your suffering, those of those around you, and discover Universal Unity. His work focuses on the breath and how to integrate it into a physically active yoga practice in order to create strength, freedom, and lightness of beings. Jean and Benoit have been old school friends for 30 years.
Carline is now 50 years old. She started to practice yoga after an accident at the age of 20. She tried different yoga styles over the years, she has now been teaching since 2016 after 4 years of training with the Institut Français du Yoga. Her teaching is a synthesis of her life as a yogi and a woman. She focuses on the importance of always respecting the body and synchronizing breath with physical capacity. Her yoga practice is a source of inspiration always renewed but still rooted in tradition. Yoga gives freedom to people and can be done everywhere freely.
Sarah began practicing yoga in 2008 and is specialized in traditional Hatha yoga. She trusts that through yoga and meditation, they can quiet the mind, gain inner freedom, tranquility, and joy, and can ultimately access their full potential power in life. By slowing down and focusing on the breath, you can become stable and clear so that you can show up in life as the best versions of yourselves.
