Looking for something different? Take the family on a guided fishing trip in Banff National Park. Our expert fishing guides know all the top spots on Lake Minnewanka in the Canadian Rockies. Minnewanka is famous for big lake trout and oversized Rocky Mountain whitefish.

Canoeing

The late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau loved canoeing, famously commenting that it makes you 'a child of nature.'' Become a child yourself again (or bring the kids along) and paddle across world-famous Lake Louise. Life moves in perfect unison with the sights and sounds of the wild as you guide your bright red canoe across our brilliant blue-green waters toward the towering Victoria Glacier. Hiking

Join one of our accredited naturalists for a day hike of your choosing. The first guests to book decide where this day goes. Meet your guide in the morning or -consult with our concierge the night before to tailor a hike to your abilities and interest. We can go for a classic walk up to one of the teahouses, challenge the summit of magnificent Mt Fairview or drive away and hike one of the more remote trails in the park. Mountain biking

White-water rafting

If you are looking to add some excitement to your vacation in the Rockies then visit the Wild Water Adventures team located in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. You can choose between an exciting whitewater trip - designed to thrill and soak, or, for the younger or more reluctant rafter, join the more scenic, gentle ride on the famous -Kicking horse

Warning, you will still get wet! Meet at the Wild Water desk in the hotel and enjoy a guided shuttle out to the warm and comfortable RiverBase Daylodge; or, if you are keen to explore spectacular Yoho National Park with its plentiful waterfalls and towering mountains, drive yourselves the easy 40 minutes out to the RiverBase. Self-drive map will be supplied. You'll be fully outfitted for your guided rafting journey - all you need to bring is a swimsuit and towel. There is a deli lunch included as well on full day trips. Minimum age to operate a machine is 16 years old with a drivers license, and under 16 years they must share a machine with an older rider. Horseback riding

Come and experience a feel of the Wild West on horseback with nothing but breathtaking scenery for the entire ride. Located on the grounds of The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Brewster Stables offer a variety of horseback rides including a 1.5-hour Lakehead, three-hour Lake Agnes, four-hour Plain of Six Glaciers, six-hour ride to both tea houses & an eight hour Paradise Valley ride. Reservations are required. All children must be eight years of age and a minimum of 52 inches tall for all trips. Please note that the Plain of Six Glaciers and longer rides requires all riders to have previous experience, and be a minimum age of ten years old.
