During the yoga retreat, there will be one Hatha yoga class daily. The morning class is usually moderate with emphasis on building strength. In the evening, participants can enjoy a relaxing pranayama and meditation class.
Arvind is the founder and director of The Bodhi Center for Yoga and Meditation. He is also an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 yoga teacher. From his early years, yoga and spirituality have been his field of interest and self-study. His quest for the true meaning of life propelled him to take yoga as a full-time profession. His calm and loving presence gives a sense of healing acceptance to his students.
One of the holiest cities of Central India, Maheshwar is dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva. Located amidst the banks of Narmada River, tourists come here from far off places to receive inner calm and peace. The holy city, which in earlier times was called as Mahishmati, is mentioned in Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Every day, thousands of Hindu pilgrims come here to visit holy ghats and ancient temples. The city opt its name Maheshwar from the great Lord Shiva, a grand lord in Hindu religion, which literally meant to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Tourism and religion also hold immense significance in and around Maheshwar.
During the retreat you will be staying at Hansa Heritage, a place designed by keeping in mind the interest of the esteemed visitors of Maheshwar. Located so conveniently, Hansa Heritage gives the comfort of walking over to the fort, the historical palace Rajwada, the historical Rajarajeshwara Temple, or to the Narmada River.
You will be served daily Sattvic vegetarian food which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner with regular chai or herbal tea throughout the day during this retreat.
During your free time, you can take a relaxing boat ride on the Narmada River and enjoy bird life and a beautiful sunset over the water. There are also Hindu temples that could be seen along the banks of the river, making your boating experience richer with the views. In the morning, you can practice your yoga at the Sethani Ghat on Narmada River.
Please book your flight to arrive at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport (IDR). From the airport, visitors can hire a taxi to reach Maheshwar.
Several state-run buses do work regularly from Indore, Bhopal, Khandwa, Dhar, Dhamnod, and many other cities of Madhya Pradesh.
The nearest railway is at Barwaha Railway Station, located about 39 kilometers from Maheshwar. There is also Indore Junction Railway Station located at Indore. Trains from Mumbai, Delhi, Bhopal, and many other Indian cities halt at the station. From the station, visitors can hire taxi for Maheshwar.
