The accommodation will be at The Burn House, a lovely small country estate near the pretty village of Edzell which offers an escape from the unending demands of the modern world. You will be staying in the quaint courthouse on the estate, an ideal location for this special affairs retreat away from it all, offering quiet and quality time for you. It is the perfect setting for you to get together with friends and like-minded people without having to venture too far afield and enjoying a short revitalizing break in one of Scotland’s most fantastic corners.

There are seven bedrooms in the courtyard, providing accommdation for 14 people maximum. One of these bedrooms is a double room and is ideal for a couple or for a person who does not want to share a twin room.


The Affairs Scottish Retreat is a chance for you to enjoy a wonderful yoga and well-being retreat experience right in the heart of the Scottish countryside. Over the course of the weekend, you will enjoy the benefits of daily yoga practice, breath work, relaxation, meditation, massage, and mindfulness. Thus, whether you are at the start of your yoga journey or looking to deepen your practice, there is something for everyone.

Whether you are looking to get away from it all to enjoy total relaxation and mindful practices or a well-being retreat that is also about new active experiences, this short break retreat is a great combination, offering something for everyone. The expert instructors, Nix, Simone, and Sandra will be on hand to work with your needs and abilities and guest instructors will also join the group through the weekend for mindfulness and other great sessions.

Typical Saturday full day program

  • 08:30 Wake up a smoothie at the Coachhouse
  • 09:00 Spring into Springtime Yoga – Pranayama Breathing Practice; followed by Ashtanga Yoga sequence and guided relaxation in the Yoga room.
  • 10:30 Healthy breakfast
  • 11:30 Mindfulness walk on the grounds up the River Ask
  • 12:30 Mindfulness Session with Sarah Gear – What does Spring say to you? The season of new beginnings, green shoots, blossoming, birth? Enjoy Sarah’s Mindfulness practices to help you bloom in 2019!
  • 13:30 Group buffet lunch
  • 14:30 Creative Writing Workshop with Lesley Hart, acclaimed writer, and actress – for those writing novices this is a chance to use your creativity and get your juices flowing. You will use the time with Lesley to put down on paper your thoughts, ideas or frustrations in a fun storytelling way, inspired by the beautiful countryside surroundings of the Burn estate. Writing promotes well-being and helps process emotions, helping to unclutter your mind, lift away the cobwebs and propel you forward in a positive direction.
  • Or enjoy the Nutrition and Wellbeing workshop with Nix
  • 16:00 Optional Hour - 121 sessions with Instructors – Nutrition, Fitness and Wellness with Nix, Mindfulness with Sarah; Unwind and relax in the Yoga Room with Hatha Moon Salutation Practice with Simone or take some ‘YOU TIME’ to enjoy the gorgeous estate or simply relax and enjoy the surroundings of the Coach house.

Surrounding the courthouse, there are 190 acres of spectacular grounds consisting of ancient woodland, parkland, and gardens. A stunning riverside walk follows the North Esk River and crosses the Boundary Highland Fault Line. Standing at the foot of Glenesk, The Burn House Estate is ideally placed for guests coming from the North East and surrounding areas of Scotland - less than an hour’s drive from Aberdeen and Dundee.
