What to bring

You don't need to bring much with you, but here's a quick list: comfortable clothes that are loose and light, your yoga wear (mats and props are provided), bathing suit, sandals and comfortable walking shoes, a warm upper and lower body layering (it can drop to 10 degrees in the north in the winter), a light rain jacket or windbreaker, a travel towel for each person, sunscreen, water bottle, headlamp, sunglasses, personal toiletries, any special medications, foods or supplements you may require or wish to have on the trip, insect repellent (recommended containing DEET), your passport

Pack light - in many cases, you will be taking your luggage with you throughout the trip, so please pack only what you need. Store any other baggage with your hotel or hostel. Keep in mind that just about anything can be purchased cheaply in the markets.

Mobile / communication information

You will receive a prepaid SIM card for your phone so, when you step off the plane, youll be in contact. If your current phone is locked to a plan, or uses a non-compatible operating system, another option is to purchase a cheap $20 phone in Chiang Mai. As for internet, most locations have 3G signals and free Wi-Fi.

While the program doesn't stick to a strict eating or food style, it does offer a bit of everything with a healthy spin. Normally eating out, expect a wide range of dishes for everyone to share, but you can also request anything else you may want. Thai food is packed with herbs and vegetables and easy to make vegetarian or vegan versions of popular dishes. Since most meals are based around rice or rice noodles, there are also many gluten-free options.

The cooking course on the lake focuses on fresh and healthy fusion dishes which you can easily integrate once back home. Of course, everyone likes a bit of indulgence too and complementary beer and wine will be offered at various meals.

If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions please mark them down on your registration form.

There will be ample free time for your own options or to skip out on the group activities as necessary. Activities include Thai massages, spa treatments, traditional Chinese medicine consultations, Ayurvedic treatments and exploring the city on bicycle.

  • Review by Alice from New York

"As someone who has barely done yoga before, Christophe sparked my interest for yoga and built my confidence. With his great attitude and clear instructions of the fundamentals, he taught me all the basics but more importantly armed me with the knowledge of correct alignment. Now I don't have to walk into a yoga class with the fear of not knowing what to do! "

  • Review by Christina from London

"You never know what to expect in Christophe's classes, as he introduces his students of all different levels to fun partner yoga, or encourages first timers to handstands, or challenges more seasoned yogis to unassisted drop backs. But with his clear articulation and breakdown of the technical side of yoga, nothing seems too difficult, and you know you will leave the class feeling better about yourself, proudly accomplished and more confident. And there's always lots of smiles and laughter! "

  • Review by Nina from Frankfurt

"My experience was peaceful, calm, and deeply restorative. Christophe provided a well-rounded tour of the Chiang Mai region. As a vegetarian, it is sometimes hard for me to find good food when I don't speak the native language. In Chiang Mai, I ate like a queen, from fine dining to macrobiotic to the very best in street food. Our weekend trip to Chiang Dao was unforgettable. The waterfalls, meditation sessions in two different temples, and restful atmosphere of our was exactly what I needed. I highly recommend TYH for anyone who wants a completely holistic retreat experience."

  • Review by Rodney from Sydney

"I have been studying under Christophe for just under a year and what he has taught me has has changed my practice greatly. He has the ability to take complex postures, break them down to understandable explanations of what you should be feeling in your body. It’s clear to me that this is what he was put on this planet to do. "

  • Review by Patrick from Toronto

"After a decade of yoga retreats I thought I had seen it all - but this trip was one of a kind! Never could I have imagined that a retreat could encompass so many different experiences. We traveled to four different amazing locations, slept in top notch accommodation, interacted with great people - and my yoga practice came a long way too. Much more than holiday - this was a journey. I'll be back!"

  • Review by Claire from London, UK

"This retreat that Christophe arranged was truly amazing! Best trip of my life! We started in Chiang Mai, where we indulged in amazing local Thai food, then went to the cool small hippie town of Pai for 2 nights, followed by the most unique experience of learning farming and sustainability from a permaculture community, and ended the trip at calm and tranquil Om waters, were we lived on a platform floating on water and did yoga all day. A few sentences cannot describe how awesome the trip was! Well organized, action packed to the right degree, great yoga of course, and lots of new fun experiences. Best spent holiday!"

  • Review by Kevin from Toronto, Canada

"Back home, my day to day life is very hectic, stressful, and full of deadlines. This holiday has helped me put all that aside by going to remote locations that were still luxurious and comfortable, all while reconnecting with a more wholesome way of life."

  • Review by a traveler from Paris, France

"Yoga occasionally has a division between those who are good yogis and those who are good teachers. Christophe is the rarest and best of these: an excellent teacher with a strong yogic heart. His excellent explanations and gentle adjustments made me feel capable of attempting poses I had never tried before, and with such good alignment! He is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my 16 years of studying yoga and I would take classes from him again in a heartbeat."

  • Review by Fred from France

"Between the luxurious accommodation and individualized attention, I loved how easy it was to lose track of time. We were in places that allowed us to forget everything while at the same time we remembered who we truly are."
