Scattered across the beautiful tropical hillside, each individual cabaa has been hand-built of all natural materials and offers exceptional views of the ocean and jungle canopy. Each cabaa is situated to offer privacy and seclusion while still taking advantage of the spectacular views.

The cabaas have been designed with your comfort in mind. Enjoy the rustic luxury of any one of the spacious cabaas, which feature comfortable beds with hand woven sheets, gauzy sheer curtains to filter the sunlight, and oil lamps and candles for softly lit evenings. Most cabaas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon naps.

Each cabaa has its own unique and individually designed private bathroom with hot water, monogrammed towels, and an open air shower with a view.

The dormitory is a non-coed dormitory. It has been designed to accommodate up to eight people in a shared bedroom and bathroom facility. You will enjoy the same features of the cabaas but in a large open room with individual beds for each person.

There are two bathrooms in the dormitory, one at each end, to accommodate up to four people each. In each bathroom, there are two showers, two sinks, and one toilet.

There is daily housekeeping service for both the cabaas and the dormitory and every detail is attended to right down to the fresh flowers.

Driving directions from Licenciado Gustavo Daz Ordaz International Airport (PVR)

Drive north out of Puerto Vallarta on highway 200.

The exit for Sayulita is at kilometer marker 123 and you will exit off the highway to the left.

Approximately half a mile from the highway 200 turnoff you will come to a Y on the road.

Continue straight ahead - which is the left arm of the Y. This road bypasses the actual town of Sayulita.

Approximately 1.2 miles beyond this Y you will come to a dirt road on your right. Turn right onto this dirt road.

Take this road until you come to the next intersecting dirt road on the right.

Turn right onto this road and take this road straight ahead to the guardshack and gate.

Tell the person manning the gate that you are going to Haramara Retreat. Immediately after the gate it will become a cobblestone road and you are almost there.

The road curves and passes a long red wall on your right.

After you pass this wall Haramara Retreat will be the next place you can turn right at.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your tickets to fly into Licenciado Gustavo Daz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).

Continue walking straight ahead through the airport exiting out the glass doors. Head for the pedestrian overpass on your left, go up the ramp, over the highway and down the other side. Wait for a green and white Compostela bus that has Sayulita written on its windshield to arrive. You will purchase your ticket on the bus. When you arrive in Sayulita, you will have to take a taxi to arrive at the retreat.

Arrival by shuttle

If you have arranged for the retreat shuttle, please proceed through the sliding glass doors after you exit customs. You will encounter a large, loud crowd waiting outside the sliding glass doors. Arrival by taxi

If you have opted to take a taxi, please proceed through the sliding glass doors after you exit customs. You will encounter a large, loud crowd waiting outside the sliding glass doors. Haramara Retreat suggests that you not use the airport taxis and continue walking straight ahead through the airport exiting out the glass doors. Head for the pedestrian overpass on your left, go up the ramp, over the highway and down the other side. Seasonal information

The Central Pacific Coast of Mexico is surrounded by jungle and receives approximately 345 days of sunshine per year. Located on the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, its sub-tropical climate is often compared to Hawaiis. Temperatures can reach 90 degrees during the summer, along with high humidity, but at night, the onshore breeze brings cool air that makes for pleasant sleeping conditions.

The rainy season is June through October; however, August and September are considered the two rainy months. On average, September has 15 wet days per month, while January has only two. Rain usually doesnt start until late in the afternoon, leaving most of the day free for outdoor activities. March, April, May, October, and November are warm but comfortable (upper 70s to low 80s). December, January, and February are usually comfortable (low to mid 70s) but can be chilly at night (low to mid 60s). June, July, August, and September are hot (mid 80s to low 90s) and humid.

Mobile / communication information

There are no phones, internet or fax at Haramara Retreat. If you would like to use the phone, internet, or fax you will need to go into the town of Sayulita. For emergency contact only, the phone number to leave is the Haramara business office number in Tucson, Arizona. Messages will be delivered to you out at the retreat as soon as possible.

Your phone working will depend on the phone you have and if it has the 1900 GSM frequency band. If you have this frequency band your phone will work in Mexico, but you will need to check with your service provider about your specific phone and service. There is a cell tower in Sayulita with limited accessibility from certain places at the highest point on the property.

Electricity information

There is no electricity in the cabanas. They are illuminated at night with oil lamps and candles. You will be unable to use any small electrical appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or razors. There are no fans or air conditioning in the cabanas. If you want to read at night, you will need to bring a book light with you. There is no outdoor lighting so you will need to carry a flashlight or use a headlamp at night. There is, however, electricity in the yoga pavilion and the restaurant for recharging batteries. It is the same voltage as the United States so no converter is needed.

Medical information

There are a number of doctors in the town of Sayulita, some with 24 hour service. There is a small hospital in the neighboring town of San Francisco (San Pancho) for small emergencies and a number of excellent hospitals in Puerto Vallarta for bigger emergencies. Depending on the problem and the severity, there is someone you can be taken to for help.
