This retreat will take place in Talalla, located on the southern tip of Sri Lanka near the city of Matara. The retreat sits just meters away from Talalla Beach, an undiscovered cove of crystal clear turquoise water, spotless golden sand, and mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets.

It is one mile of golden sand where often the only footprints will be yours. The sun rises out of the sea for a fuchsia velvet sky mirrored by crystal waters, and a daily scene set to take your breath away.

While local fishermen bring in their catch in the way that they have for decades, the sun sets on a mauve sky. The water is a minute’s stroll from your villa through tall palm trees and soft grass. The sea in this secluded cove is generally calm for safe swimming when most other southwest beaches are blown out by strong onshore winds.

During the training you will be provided with three daily meals. Start your day with a menu of tropical fruits, buffalo curd, fine cut oats, fresh coconut, homemade papaya jam, and Swiss pancakes. Follow up with eggs-any-style, omelet, fresh dhal, and coconut curry.

Of course, while in Sri Lanka, the finest leaf tea is served to you in a traditional teapot. You may also elect to take a freshly made fruit juice of local mango, watermelon, or pineapple, or a traditional banana lassi.

At midday, lunch is either a la carte, with local favorites such as sour mango curry or international options including vegetarian burritos and panzanella. This buffet is perfect for all food desires, from those who wish to feast to those who wish for something light, fresh, and healthy.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Please contact Talalla Retreat, for further assistance.

You may also hire a sea plane to fly from Colombo to a destination about 45-minutes from Talalla. Just make sure you have your camera with you because the Sri Lankan coast scenery will be mind blowing!

Arrival by bus

This option would suit people traveling on a budget but is not recommended for the faint-hearted. The chaos on the roads of Sri Lanka can be a bit overwhelming at first but if you are into adventure then this can be a wild experience! There are buses that utilize the newly established highway from Colombo to Matara and a local bus can be taken from Matara to Talalla. Expect this to be a six to ten hours long journey.

Arrival by train

Sri Lanka is well known for itʼs beautiful train rides through the local villages and coastal towns. This is one of the longer options (approximately seven hours) and will involve a tuk-tuk or taxi ride to the closest station. But it would be well worth your time if you are after a bit of an adventure and would like to experience some of the local culture first hand.

Arrival by taxi

Taxis are available at the airport. Some will be willing to take you to the south coast while others might hesitate. Make sure you say Matara or Gandara as a destination point so that they know where they are heading and ensure they know exactly where Talalla is.

If you take a private driver from the transport stands in the arrival terminal, make sure that you bargain to ensure that you get the best deal. A reasonable price is USD 130 one way.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 7 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
