23 Days 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Spain

  • Almegijar, Las Alpujarras, Spain

Overview

200hr Yoga Teacher Training Spain

Our yoga teacher training is a unique course, in that it teaches a comprehensive view of Yoga, looking beyond asana style and into the very purpose of each aspect of yoga. It is based in Patanjali's 8 limbs of Yoga and runs as a live-in program, held in the spirit of Ashram life. We value interactive and experiential learning, and have developed a yoga teacher training curriculum that encourages each student to take an individual path within the group experience.

Energetic purpose of yoga disciplines

Students who take this immersion will learn how to choose what is appropriate for them, from all the styles and practices in contemporary yoga, by experiencing a daily routine that follows the energetic purpose of yoga disciplines. The ancient philosophy of Yoga tells us that the 5 Elements are at the core of yogic development, and our yoga teacher training will provide you with comprehensive guidance in how to approach your yoga path.

The yoga teacher training is held on a beautiful Andalusian style Eco-Farm. The property is situated on the edge of the Sierra Nevada National Park where you can enjoy a variety of local fauna and flora. At 1250 meters above sea level, this Centre offers the best of fresh clean mountain air and the southern Spanish summer sun.

This Eco-Farm has been adapted as a retreat centre with traditional Spanish accommodation, a natural mineral water swimming pool and two Yoga Shalas; one indoor and one outdoor. The main Yoga Room is spacious and has a broad view of the surrounding mountains. The accommodation rooms are simple, clean and comfortable, appointed in the same manner found in Ashram lifestyle, and there are single and shared rooms available.

We train 6 days a week, with 1 day off a week and we work around 8-9 hours a day. There will be 4 hours of practice and 3.5 to 4 hours for lectures, discussions, teaching practice, and other activities. Two nights a week we have both bhajans (devotional singing) and conscious cinema.

  • Sofia Araujo

It has been 14 years since she started exploring yoga as a practice. Each travel adventure she took always turned into a study trip, and with many of them being in India, she deepened her understanding and practices in yoga, ayurveda, yoga therapy and different forms of bodywork.

  • Jai Salt

Before Jai discovered the healing arts he was living the life of a musician, though he explored his talents in improvisation as much through travel as he did with music. He had visited India and the Satyananda Ashram in Sydney discovering yoga and a love for learning folk medicine. He has worked as a yoga teacher in very diverse fields, from community health, The South Australian Autism Society, to professional surfers with Quiksilver International.

Andalucia is Spains southernmost region, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea in the east to the Portuguese border in the west. The main attraction of the landscape of Andalusia centers on its impressive contrasts: mountains and beaches, deserts and salt flats, plains and countryside where Mediterranean crops alternate with pastureland.

Between the highest mountains of Andalusia and the Mediterranean Sea, the Alpujarras is one of the most enchanting and beautiful regions of Spain and where our training will be. Our meeting point will be in the town centre of Orgiva, 25 kilometeres from the retreat center.

"Sometimes I don’t know how to explain in words to people what I gained from the courses I did at Swara and how to explain what yoga in general means to me. But because I feel the urge to share this powerful wisdom I try to find ways to make people around me experience some of that all. And that is exactly what Jai and Sofia do. During the YTT and TT they let me experience the wisdom of my body and nature, showed me what is already there in me and how to connect to this. I could experience myself as a whole again and from there on connect with the world around me. Because they connect the experience of doing elemental yoga with more practical knowledge about yoga, food, the element system, daily life and the world we live in, it gives me the possibility to make aware choices in my life and relate to them. Jai and Sofia practice what they preach, are on the path with me, guiding, sharing all their knowledge. And although I always said I didn’t want to become a yoga teacher, I couldn’t help that I became one."

"This course was an important turning point in my life that allowed changes to happen from the inside. Jai and Sofia lead by example, making it possible for the soul to perceive the greater good. I cannot conceive a better way to bring together the knowledge one needs to practice and teach yoga safely and confidently. I am grateful for this opportunity and I look forward to join the Elemental Therapy course in the future. AUM"

"This has been a life changing experience for me. I gained a lot of knowledge about yoga and teaching skills. I really loved the way we learned to teach by doing the micro lessons. I think it was good to do it in a practical way and felt that I learned allot by the way things were done. At the same time I got the time to turn my gaze inwards and see my life in a new perspective.I feel that I have come closer to my true self and nature.Thank you Jai and Sofia for everything you have helped me to see and learn."

"I am writing this testimonial as some time has passed since the Yoga Teacher Training in Spain. The first words that enter my mind are; complete, balance, peace, and the best gift I have ever given to myself. I feel like I got to know myself much better, who I am, and who I am not. I am more peaceful with who I am right now and feel like this is only the beginning of a long journey. I really felt guided by Jai and Sofia during the whole training. Besides all the things the 3 weeks gave to myself, I also felt comfortable enough to start teaching yoga after the training. I started teaching some friends, and now, 2 months later, I am already teaching 3 classes a week and feel more and more comfortable. I don't know how this happened, it wasn't my plan, but it just came to me. This training gave me exactly what I was hoping for, and even more. First of all I became a yoga teacher (of course now I need to get a lot more experience), the 3 weeks were amazing for my mind and body, I got to know myself much better and felt much more balanced ever since. And now I can only say I feel hungry for more of this. I can recommend this to anyone who not only wants to become a yoga teacher, but also wants to get to know themselves better and feel more balanced."

"This course has given me the hunger and motivation to keep learning, studying, developing and grow. I enjoyed learning from the wisdom of each teacher. They have a compassionate understanding of the journey we are taking. It is very clear that you give yourselves fully to facilitate this process. I felt we always had the space to delve deeper both into ourselves and the course, and at the same time offered your support should we need it. This was vital to the fullness of the process. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I´m sure I will be back for more."

"The EYT training helped me reconnect with myself through absorbing and reconnecting to the energies of Nature's Elements. I learned new aspects of Yoga that feel more truthful and makes me realise how easy it is to be "asleep" in my former practices.I learned that it is through subtlety and simplicity that you find the Yoga to be most effective, both physically and energetically. I am ready to go out with the experience and the comprehensive 'tool box' that comes from this very thorough training in Elemental Yoga Therapy.I am only at the beginning, but a seed has been planted and I am committed to keep nourishing it and watch it grow. Thank you for a wonderful Yoga experience"

"This course came to me at the right time in my life, As someone who already had a connection to ritual life, I was truly moved as I learned to relate with Mother Nature and her Elements on a much deeper level.I was expertly guided and supported all the way through my discoveries by these two extraordinary teachers . It is difficult to be more specific, because words don't really describe the feelings that come with moving the Elements into harmony with yourself. I am deeply touched by this course."

"I am a tea drinking salad eater that lived in the country over 10 years. I was having an adventure one day and stumbled across the Attuning to the Seasons retreat in Norway, July 2014. I am super thankful! Sofia and Jai are top knotch quality, bright lights, good hearted, inspirational, humble, kindred folks that graciously shared their lifetime of knowledge with an eclectic group of folks, young and old, yoga teachers and beginners. During this retreat I actually felt the Seasons changing with the food and with the yoga. It was wild and so much fun! I believe that what they shared with us is very important! I feel much more connected to Mother Nature. Sofia and Jai are encouraging folks that have truely inspired me, and i totally recommend taking a retreat with them! I am super excited to share this experience and great recipes with my friends and family. Thank you! Brightest wishes and happy trails."

"The teacher training with Jai and Sofia changed something for me on a much deeper level than I had expected. I connected into my body in a way that I had never before, getting control over how and where to move deeper into my body. With this came stability and confidence inside myself, giving me a deeper feeling of where to move towards in my life.I loved travelling the journey through the five Elements inside myself and reflected in the beautiful group around me, as it made me understand a lot of things about myself, and life itself. It was the perfect course for me, joining Yoga and Nature back together as I feel they are, deeply inside myself. I feel more whole now, light and stable at the same time, and very inspired to learn and experience more about yoga, the Elements and the human body, and within all this, to learn more about myself. Thank you, Sofia and Jai, for inviting and leading us on this beautiful journey."

"Its hard to imagine a better Teacher Training than the Elemental course. I feel that I received the tools and the feedback that I was looking for and have come into closer connection with myself. I learnt so much about yoga, about energy, about teaching and in such an inspired and healing way. Jai and Sofia are extraordinary yoga teachers and I am so glad I found my way to them. They are honest, straightforward, caring, and have a wonderful sense of humour, and the way they taught us to teach just works so well."

"This course showed me how Yoga goes way beyond Asana and Pranayama, and into a way of living and being. It reminded me that Nature is our greatest teacher and I look forward to sharing this with my community through these magical yoga classes. The Swara Yoga TTC is held in a safe and sacred space that creates a very special Sanga that feels now like a new family. With blessings and gratitude"

  • Review by Amber Sawyer from USA

"The Elemental Yoga Therapy training is absolutely one of a kind: bravely, wisely and aesthetically revealing the Essence of ancient traditions including Ayurveda, TCM, Shiatsu, Shamanism and Yoga into a simple, pure, communicable reflection of Nature herself. The wisdom can be woven with ease into daily living, yoga development, as well as any healing modality, and ultimately into the way in which we understand and experience our Selves. Jai and Sofia have creatively structured this programme so that each student can experience the dynamic dance of the elements, allowing the elements to reveal their inherent polarities within our physical and subtle bodies. After 18 days together, I had a completely new perspective of the Elements, as well as a renewed love affair with Nature! Finally, I feel that I've been guided into a course of study that brings the Wisdom of the sages into an evolved, conscious & modern day approach towards empowering the individual to tap into their own energetic potential. I look forward to continued studies with the EYT programme!"

"This training is simply transformative. I left feeling connected to myself in a way I havent felt before steady and yet expansive. I now have a new set of principles that not only align my life with Nature but to also help me to support others in a transformative way. Magic! Sofia and Jai create a space for growth and development, within a depth of yoga principles and a true connection to Nature. I walked out ready to start working with my clients."

"I have completed 3 training's with this form of Elemental Yoga, and each time the course showed me how to connect even more deeply to the Elements inside me. Teaching others how connecting to Nature and the 5 Elements can heal and transform deeply rooted issues/imbalances is simple when you know how to use this system."
