Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive a certificate affiliated with Swaha Yoga Center. Registration with Swaha Yoga Center meets the standard set forth by the Yoga Alliance which provides a globally recognized credential.
Program
The educational training of Swaha Yoga School, registered with Yoga Alliance, is a combination of years of experience, knowledge, and thousands of hours of training concentrated in an absolutely transformational experience. Since this training is of excellent caliber, students are expected to be committed in time, energy, and discipline; it is important to note that this is a training, and not a yoga retreat or yoga holiday.
This life-changing training has many different categories of yoga such as Swaha Vinyasa yoga, Swaha Hatha yoga, and Swaha Gentle / Restorative yoga. Thus, upon the completion of this program, you may include any kind of audience and teach according to the needs of the students.
The curriculum is based on classical yoga using elements from the ancient scriptures such as Sutras yoga, Bhagavad Gita, Vedanta, Upanishad, Hatha yoga Pradipika, and Tantric yoga combined with modern spiritual teachings such as Jiddu Krishnamurti of Eckhart Tolle, Emmet Fox, Alan Watts, and others.
This program is for people who want to be yoga teachers with skills and inspiration, teaching from the heart based on their own practice and personal discipline, people with the desire to share the wealth of yoga and enrich the lives of others and themselves. This particular yoga teacher training is based on Vinyasa yoga. However, upon completion of this program, you can include any kind of audience and adopt the teachings according to the students’ needs.
The daily schedule includes two meditation sessions, two yoga classes, two lectures, chanting, satsang, service to the community, and study hours. There is no lecture once per week. You will be offered a supportive environment, assistance, and the proper nourishment so you get the chance and opportunity to reassemble yourself in a way you haven't ever experienced before.
Anatomy
You will learn the detailed exploration of the musculoskeletal system with the understanding of its function in order to help you start building safe sequences for students as well as sequences to advance you in your own practice. This teacher training will cover lessons on some common yoga injuries and how to avoid them, linking alignment with body biomechanics.
These lessons include an introduction to the major body systems such as cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, skeletal, muscular systems, and the effects of asana and pranayama in these systems.
Asanas
The morning asanas lesson is dedicated to your personal practice. The afternoon practice consists of your practice and the teaching of how to teach others. The daily in-depth practice includes basic warm-ups, sun salutations variations, basic, medium difficulty and advanced yoga postures, postural alignment, deep relaxation techniques, benefits and contraindications of asanas, Vinyasa creation (flow), right sequence, injuries, and special population.
Chanting
Chanting is a practice that develops a very pure vibration and lifts the practitioner to the higher self. It is one of the most effective practices to achieve transformation. You will start and finish the day by chanting to lift your spirit, open your heart, and purify your mind. -Karma yoga
Karma yoga is the practice of selfless service. It is a way to achieve unity as work becomes an offer without any thought of personal gain. All of you will take part in what is necessary for the proper functioning of the community.
Kriyas
It is a classical cleaning eye exercises, nose, the air passages, esophagus and stomach, abdominal organs, and intestines such as tratak, neti, kapalabhati, dhauti, nauli, basti, and sankapraksalana.
Meditation
You will learn what is meditation, why and how to meditate, effects of meditation, and experiences in meditation.
Nutrition in yoga
You will learn how diet affects the brain and all the systems of the body, the impact of nutrition on the planet and the environment, the concept of ahimsa, right balance of key nutrients, suitable combination of foods, therapeutic effects of fasting, and a cooking workshop.
Philosophy of yoga
You will learn the four paths of yoga including Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Raja yoga, Jnana yoga, yoga sutras of Patanjali in a detailed study of the text and commentary, basic concepts of Vedanta philosophy, introduction to Tantra, Kundalini yoga, and Bhagavad Gita in-depth study of the text and commentary.
Practical teaching
In the last two weeks of this teacher training, you will teach each other under the guidance of experienced teachers and learn how to create a safe environment for the classroom, how to hold the seat of a teacher, language and tone of voice, general advice for teaching a course, teaching of basic Hatha, Vinyasa, gentle course, teaching intermediate Hatha, teaching a mixed level class, teaching a class with special emphasis, creating a theme, guided relaxation techniques, hands-on assists, injury and modifications for special population, and how to address challenging situations.
Pranayama
Pranayama is breathing techniques for controlling and expanding your vital energy. This includes basic methods of breathing, methods for extending the breath-ability, kapalabhati, nadi shodan, surya bheda, ujjayi, bhastrika, sitkari, sitali, bhramari, and introduction to advanced pranayama.
Satsang
The meaning of satsang is "to be accompanied by the truth and wisdom". You will read and inquire on the scriptures of ancient and modern masters and discuss how you can convey their importance in your daily life.
