Wonderful location with 124 beautifully designed steps/stairs to get to the restaurant. Views are breathtaking and rooms are very modern. We stayed in superior rooms 302 & 303 and they were really well designed and maintained. Loved the semi-open bathroom & shower. Only complain is no refrigerator to keep water/drinks cold. Also, restaurant menu is like 4 items; it's a joke when compared to the variety of food you can get anywhere in Bali. Found a great Indian take-away place called Queens (next to Ubud Palace where most hotels drop their guests). The poor delivery girl brought food on time - twice - in the heavy downpour that this island gets drenched pretty much every other day.

I checked in two hours ago and I've already fallen in love with the place. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff delightful. I would certainly recommend Svarga Loka to anyone staying in Ubud. Whilst having lunch just after we arrived, the chef overheard me on the telephone mentioning that it's my mother's birthday - before we knew it my mother was presented with a birthday cake and all the restaurant staff sang happy birthday. It was so unexpected, and very kind. Also, as it's surrounded by jungle there are quite a few bugs - I can be a bit pathetic so I had to ask at reception for someone to remove a caterpillar from our otherwise spotless and immaculate room. Not only did someone remove the offending critter instantly, but his boss then came to check if I wanted the brand new sheets changing as the caterpillar had momentarily touched them! It really is impeccable service and we couldn't have found a more enchanting location.

We stayed as a family with teenagers for 3 nights in this newly set up hotel. The setting is very beautiful, it looks like you are surrounded by rainforest. All rooms and other amenities are built around the existing trees, so it all feels like a Swiss family Robinson treehouse eco experience. Rooms are very nice and big. There are beautiful views from several spots to the river and waterfall. Be sure to book a room including the spa, because that's really heaven like, with a direct view above the river. The sound of the water is very therapeutic, and the spa personnel is really professional. The breakfast is ok, but my advice would be to include real coffee at the lower restaurant. Swimming pool is nice, but not very big. Be aware that the grounds include a lot of stairs, so only for (wannabe) fit customers. We loved this place and would definitely go back there.

From the moment I first arrived at this resort I loved it! It was pouring with rain with thunder and lightning, but we were instantly given umbrellas and warmly welcomed by the staff. We were upgraded to a junior suite with a beautiful view over the valley and river. The room was spacious, comfortable with a semi-outdoor bathroom and nice balcony with a day bed. I spent a lot of time just sitting on the day bed reading looking out over the jungle - so fantastic. The resort itself is on a hillside so there are steps. I'm very active so I enjoyed the walk down to the restaurant and pool area. It's worth it so you can eat right next to the river. The pool was lovely - nice to cool off in with the humidity. The food was beautiful - homemade jams, lots of healthy local options. The staff was all wonderful, friendly and happy to assist whenever we needed anything. As for the free activities - I didn't do anything but my husband did the yoga and really enjoyed it. The best thing for me was the resort was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud but close enough to walk in. I did the walk about 4 times over the 3 days we were there and never tired of it (allow about 15 minutes - a bit tricky down the hill but once you're on the main road an easy walk). You can't hear any traffic noise at all from the rooms - just the sounds of the jungle. There are bugs though - turn off your bathroom light at night and keep the door shut and that usually keeps most of the away! The only one little negative is a bar fridge or ice would've been nice to keep the beers cold. We would stay again.

A lovely spot on a hillside going down to the river. You are right behind the main street by the Hugo Blanco Museum but you don't see or hear any other hotels. The restaurant and spa are right by the water and it is very peaceful. Rooms are spacious and brand new and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Highly recommended!
