Join this nurturing, developmental yoga retreat designed specifically for women between the age of 40 and 70 particularly to support those going through transformations and changes related to mid-life and menopause. Through yoga, you will learn to build a stronger sense of confidence that will prepare you to face the challenges of your life with a renewed love, respect, and trust in yourself.
During this retreat, you will stay either in a shared or a private room. The house has five bedrooms each with their own balcony. The four rooms located upstairs are ensuite and have their own balcony to look out over the meadow and the downstairs rooms have access to a shared bathroom. This space is suitable for creative courses, retreats, families, or small groups who are looking for somewhere beautiful to relax, write, or just stop the world for a while.
Downstairs the house, there is an enormous open plan sitting room with underfloor heating perfect for yoga with a little furniture rearrangement, for writing, or also for creative brainstorming. There is a lounge area around the wood burner, a dining room with an open-plan kitchen and the deck and enormous lawns offer even more space to breathe in the beauty and tranquility of the Sussex countryside.
During this weekend, you will learn to address existing emotional and physical challenges in a nurturing atmosphere to share and explore ways to strengthen, heal, and find an inner balance. You will be inspired to draw upon your own natural resources through specific mindful yoga techniques including asana practice, directed breathing, and meditation.
You will leave with helpful advice, techniques, and recommendations in order to pursue your own personal practice and begin to build up an invaluable toolkit to support your daily life.
The name Gangama was inspired by the power and energy source of India’s mother Ganga; the most sacred river and a lifeline to millions, worshiped as the goddess Ganga. The founder, Tan Gangar, has explored a wide variety of yoga styles, philosophy, and teachings in order to build her own unique approach for women.
Yoga is the mind and body workout. It was originated in India many centuries ago and helps you to connect the breath to the body and the mind to the muscles. Therefore, through regular yoga practice, you can alleviate the menopausal symptoms and create balance and harmony throughout. Yoga is more than just a physical experience; it builds strength, detoxifies, and improves flexibility in the muscles as well as promoting inner stillness, peace, and a calmness of the mind.
Through regular yoga practice, your overall muscle tone will improve, your spine will become strong, supple and flexible, improving all the systems in the body, like digestion, skin texture, circulation, and in turn, strengthening your immune system giving you a stronger sense of confidence. The practices will be suited for beginners and intermediate levels.
Tan Gangar is a registered teacher at Yoga Alliance United Kingdom and a regular resident teacher at the prestigious Partmath Niketan Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh by the banks of the river Ganga. It was there that she developed and nurtured her unique technique and style. She also runs her own practice in Brighton, UK, and offers private and group sessions on request.
