Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre is a beautiful, old-renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the Cortijo. In typical Spanish style, there are two inner courtyards, one of which blooms with orange and lemon trees. The property sits on 50 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with 800 olive trees.

Program

In the demands of this fast-paced high-energy lifestyle, restorative self-care practices are becoming not just a luxury but a necessity. Both Restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra can have numerous benefits including balancing the nervous system, boosting the immune system, healing emotional trauma or stress, and calming the mind. Both can be standalone practices, utilized together in a session, or incorporated into other systems such as adding Yoga Nidra to the end of asana practice.

Restorative yoga utilizes passive stretching and the use of props to promote deep relaxation and restoration. Usually poses are held for five to 20 minutes. A restorative class may include five to six poses. Yoga Nidra is also known as ‘yogi sleep.’ It is a deep relaxation technique used while fully conscious and lingering between states of wakefulness and sleep. The practice is usually done on the floor in a resting position while words and suggested visualization relaxes the body and mind.

Topics covered include:

  • Anatomy of the nervous system
  • Energy of the subtle yogic bodies
  • Science of relaxation
  • Pranayama breathwork
  • Sequencing classes
  • Creating various themes
  • Proper cueing
  • How to utilize props appropriately
  • Simple hands-on assists for relaxation
  • Practice teaching

You will also have daily practices of both Restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra. There are no prerequisites for this training aside from being a certified 200-hour yoga teacher. You will be asked for a copy of your certificate upon registration. You will receive a required reading list for the training and you will receive a manual and support materials.

Type of massages

The types of massage therapy Cátia offers are Thai yoga massage and trigger point massage. Thai yoga massage is an ancient healing art with origins in Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, and Buddhism. It has evolved into a unique and magical combination of deep stretching, rhythmic compression, soft tissue manipulation, gentle rocking, energy balancing, and acupressure. The client is treated on a mattress on the floor whilst fully clothed. It is often called “lazy man’s yoga.”

Carolina Gast offers deep tissue massage, Ayurveda massage, and holistic massage using techniques to eliminate pain and muscular fatigue. The Ayurvedic massage is considered an integral part of traditional Indian medicine. Ayurveda means knowledge of life (mental, physical, and spiritual). It improves blood circulation eliminating toxins. These three treatments re-establish the balance of body, mind, vitality, and emotions allowing the patient to release tension and relax, leading to their physical well-being, the serenity of mind, and harmony. Carolina using oils, personalized for each individual.

  • At the second roundabout, follow the signs for A4 to Cordoba, going all the way around the roundabout and keeping right.
  • Follow the A4 until km 526 (the roads in Spain have markers at each kilometer and the junction number is the kilometer number you are along the road) and take the exit onto the SE40.
  • Come off the SE40 at km 13 onto the A376 towards Utrera, this slip road has 2 exits, the first one is towards Utrera.
  • Follow the A376 to Utrera, at Utrera continue on the same road which is now the A375 to Ronda.
  • Just after Puerto Serrano the A375 ends at the A384, take the A384 towards Villamartin.8.
  • After 8 kilometers take the ramp for A373 signposted Prado del Rey/El Bosque/Ubrique/Villamartín.
  • At the roundabout go left (last exit) onto the A373 towards Prado del Rey.
