She started studying, practicing, and teaching yoga in 1975 and since then, she has taught yoga extensively worldwide.

Mélanie Huser, MD

As an experienced teacher of Vinyasa flow, Yin yoga, and a senior yoga teacher trainer for the Yogalife Yoga Teacher Training in Zurich, Switzerland, Melanie enthusiastically offers her medical expertise for a deeper understanding of the both the anatomical and psychological changes that take place during pregnancy. In her eyes, teaching prenatal yoga is a powerful tool to make the phase from conception to lactation a time of magical transition for both mama and baby.

Jennilee Toner

Already a belly dance and fitness instructor, Jennilee immediately knew that yoga would be a perfect complement to any workout regime. In 2008, she chose to study with Yogi Hari of Sampoorna Yoga. She is the author of "The Perfect Chaturanga: A Comprehensive Guide to the Human Body Through the Practice of Vinyasa Yoga", has been practicing Hatha and Vinyasa yoga since 1996, and teaching them since 2003. She has also been teaching experiential anatomy to yoga teachers in training since 2010 and teaching her own Hot Warrior Yoga teacher training since 2012.

Conny Muennemann

Conny Muennemann, who keeps her eight beautiful horses on the Suryalila Retreat Centre property, has been riding and leading treks through Andalucía for over ten years. By riding with Conny you will see the real Andalucía, which most tourists miss.

Carl Faure

Carl is the founder of Stretch and the main boss man, with 7 years of passionate and encouraging teaching experience he sets to the possible best music. He's a big fan of strong, sweaty, flowing, alignment-based sequencing, accompanied by some deep, bass-heavy electronica.

Gilda Goharian

Gilda's classes are strongly focused on alignment and breathing. She encourages her students to constantly surprise themselves by going beyond their limits and to approach yoga with a lot of fun and curiosity. In addition to yoga, she loves the practice of traditional Thai massage and became a certified bodyworker in 2012.

Lisa Dunn

Lisa is a 500-hour certified Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher based at Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre in Southern Spain. She has been teaching for 7 years and practicing for the past 15. Her formula for a great yoga class is to combine intelligent anatomical sequencing with a continual focus on the breath whilst interweaving yogic philosophy - enhancing the practice to bring a profound sense of well-being and aliveness. Lisa’s passion is to encourage and empower students to develop their practice and to have a safe life-long yoga experience.

Paddy O’Hanlon

Paddy is a little obsessed with playing and teaching AcroYoga. He values the connection, collaboration, and communication required to practice with another human being, and how AcroYoga offers opportunities for near magical experiences. In teaching, Paddy strives to share the same joy he has discovered through AcroYoga, placing the safety of his students first, while being conscious of individual needs. His classes are lovingly created to build trust and have lots of fun.

Raquelle and Jodie

Raquelle and Jodie are the founders of Fringe Yoga who have created a unique method of fusing traditional Kirtan with conscious original music and powerful connective Vinyasa. During their workshop, they will invite you to feel every single sensation through tribal beats and melodic mantras, flow with dynamic movement, and fluid asana. With a fierce intention to surrender to the divine within you, may you find freedom in this original fringe workshop.

Cátia Garcia

Cátia is a Thai yoga massage therapist at Suryalila. Her treatments work holistically to restore peace and equilibrium. The body’s energy systems are nurtured and harmonized, promoting a powerful sense of well-being. Cátia is renowned for her kind and loving presence, her sense of intuition, sensitivity and gentle touch, and her deep trust in life. She could see that imbalance, clinging to Yang and ignoring the importance of yin, was causing her to suffer, bringing physical discomfort and metabolic disharmony into her body.

    “Adventure and yoga holiday”

I actually think this is a perfect holiday. This was my second yoga and adventure here because i just loved it so much!

Hiking, cycling, canyoning, via ferrata in Ronda, kayaking and trips to gorgeous local towns and villages PLUS twice daily yoga and GORGEOUS food. I recommend a tent because you have easy access to the outdoor showers and composting toilets, which are fabulous. If you wanted more there is a flamenco class, acroyoga, a sauna and a walk to visit a local artist's house. I have no doubt I'll be back for a third time!

“Amazing week of adventure and yoga”

I would highly recommend this retreat to everyone! Or at least those who are up for incredible hikes, amazing canyoning, beautiful bike rides, to just name a few activities. It is an action packed week, but includes a well earned rest day, but I felt incredibly energised from the week. I shared a room in the main house with 3 others, it was very spacious, very clean and had beautiful art work and a big ensuite bathroom... The yoga twice a day was really good. Lidiya is an excellent teacher and group leader. The classes were demanding and challenging but never too much so. The food is really good.. I had read all the good reviews before I left and I wasn't disappointed! ! There is one thing for sure... I will definitely be back. If you have any opportunity to visit this amazing gem of a yoga centre I would do it.

This was my first yoga retreat, and it definitely won't be my last. To say that the retreat was life-changing is not an understatement. I came home from the retreat very relaxed, content, feeling physically better, with a different outlook on life, and eager to practice more yoga. My yoga experience was very limited but I never felt out of my depth in the classes. Lidiya, the teacher, provided very clear instructions and offered varying difficulties of each posture. The morning classes were held in a huge dome overlooking the Spanish countryside, with the glow of the morning sun helping us warm up for the day. I felt amazing after leaving the classes (mentally and physically) and as the week progressed, I felt that my abilities were improving. In between the classes were a collection of outdoor activities that allowed us to stretch our legs and to enjoy the amazing local countryside. They included long hikes in the mountains; kayaking in warm, still, turquoises lakes; canyoning in dramatic gorges, with huge vultures circling overhead; 'via ferrata'ing' (climbing using metal 'steps' that have been 'bedded' into the rock) around the beautiful and historic town of Rhonda. All the activities were hugely enjoyable and massively memorable. Throughout the retreat we were extremely well cared for by Lidiya. She nurtured us through the week as if we were long-term friends. She addressed any issues or questions we had and made the week extremely special. I am a seasoned traveler and I can honestly say the trip ranks right up there in my top trips ever. I'll definitely be doing it again soon!

The most rejuvenating holiday ever! I had an amazing time with the yoga and horses, and I enjoyed the fabulous food and company. I've only been back home for one day and I have already convinced three friends to visit Suryalila! Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Thanks again for hosting such an incredible retreat for us. I came with high expectations because of all the fantastic reviews but the actual experience still completely exceeded them! I'm hoping to come on one of your adventure and yoga retreats with my boyfriend next year, so will hopefully see you then! Yoga's definitely going to be a huge part of 2018 for me.

Thanks again for such an incredible experience.

I couldn't recommend this retreat enough! Everybody who works here is so lovely and helpful, the accommodation is great (beds are super comfy!) and the food is incredible. Doing yoga in the dome as the sun rises and sets each day is a real treat and has made coming back to my tiny four-walled yoga studio in London quite difficult!

My yoga teacher for the retreat was Lidiya who is an absolutely brilliant teacher and so incredibly strong!!

I gained so much from my stay at Suryalila and hope to go back very soon

Thank you so much for a really great week!

The Escape Christmas Yoga Retreat at Suryalila was a wonderful break. This was the second time I’ve been to this retreat and I am looking forward to the next one already!

It’s good to meet so many like-minded people in such an inspiring setting.

The yoga classes (2 a day) allow people who’ve already done some yoga to develop their practice further.

The (vegetarian) food is exceptional: nourishing, beautifully presented and tasty. And special diets are all catered for.

Plenty of activities were put on over Christmas - short hikes, musical evenings, a trip to Ronda.

It was also great just to relax on site, or visit the sauna and swimming pool.

It was a very refreshing break - highly recommended.

I had the most wonderful time on the Christmas retreat; I cannot recommend this center highly enough. It is a special, magical and peaceful place full of like-minded, kind-hearted people and I felt completely relaxed, taken care of and also able to find peace when I needed it. I will definitely be back

The retreat was everything I could have hoped for. Being guided each day by our loving and kind yoga instructor, Lidiya was revitalizing. Over the course of a week, a crew of strangers became close friends and we have Lidiya to thank for that. Each morning and evening we practiced in the dome, a beautiful structure with a breathtaking view of rolling hills and blue sky. When practicing in the dome, you felt wrapped up in nature as the warm sun and sounds of the outdoors poured in. I strongly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking self care, reflection and a supportive community.
