Join Surf Sisters for a surf and yoga retreat in Dominican Republic. The group integration comes not only when doing yoga and surfing in the waters together, but also through sharing common areas, meals every day, and chill out moments.
The accommodation for this retreat will be in a beautiful, comfortable, and spacious villa in a gathered community in Sosua located in the Dominican Republic North Shore: Sea Horse Ranch. The group will be living on a large and beautiful villa in the most luxury gathered country club in Northshore, Sea Horse Ranch. The country offers private beach and natural pools (just 300-meters walking distance from the house) and located a few minutes drive from Encuentro Surf Beach. The villas features private tropical garden and swimming pool and open common areas, such as living room, fully equipped kitchen, balconies.

Upgrade to private room available with daily cleaning service. The Chef will cook delicious and home-made breakfast and dinners daily.
The day starts with a light snack of fruit and coffee and jump into the water for the first session of the day, in absolutely glass conditions, enjoying perfect sunrises from the water!
The concept of this retreat is to explore and surf on different breaks in the Dominican Republic North Shore. There are many breaks just a short drive for surfers of all levels. Participants will go from the popular Encuentro Beach to the absolutely beautiful La Preciosa, to other secret and uncrowded spots in Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete, Playa Grande, and more.
The retreat is designed for beginner to intermediate level surfers to ensure that they have lots of surfing on the warm and beautiful tropical island. Participants will always be in the water during the lessons and will be supervised by the team, inside and outside of the water.
The group will be divided according to each attendants level. The Beginners will be in a group with one instructor (3 students per instructor).
Day 1: Theory lesson outside the water (ocean knowledge, safety, technique for laying in the board, standing up, paddling) and water practice in the beginners area: white water (caching up the white water).
Day 2 and 3: Lessons will be run in the white water, improving the technique, standing up, timing and training the paddling, learning to turn, passing the white water.
Day 4 to 6: Surfers reach the Line-up with the instructor (where the wave forms). Getting outside, crossing the white water, correct paddling, positioning, wave selection and knowledge, surfing across the wave.
The Intermediate / Advance surfers will be directly in the waves with one of our coaches, who will guide them in the waves, teaching and correcting. Getting outside, crossing the white water (turtle, dock dive), correct paddling and position in longboard and shortboard, wave selection and surfing across the wave. Bottom turns. One of our Instructors will be in the shore, filming and taking pictures, for a following Video Coaching, where they will be analized and corrected on technique, posture among others. Lessons will be organized during the early morning (2 hours) and practice with supervision during the afternoon (2 hours). Total of 4 hours per day.
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world governing authority for surfing and all surf riding activities, including shortboard, longboard, bodyboard, kneeboard, tandem, skimboard, tow-in, and stand up paddle (SUP) surfing.
The ISA is dedicated to the development of these sports worldwide; providing guidance and advice to its members around the world on matters such as competition, judging, coaching, surf schools, anti-doping and drug testing, and other areas of development of the sport.
The ISA is a non-profit organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the international federation for all wave-riding sports including surfing and bodyboarding.
The ISA is a member of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), and the International World Games Association (IWGA).
Surf Sisters promote surfing for all levels and skills. The objective in all of its retreats is to integrate every woman who is training and surfing together as they will progress more than when they are alone.
You will learn from not only your instructor, but also from your teammates. Surf Sisters will support and encourage each other, from the women who are catching their first waves ever to those progressive surfers who are looking to improve their surfing techniques.
With an incredible topography, climate, and surfing conditions, Dominican Republic is a tropical paradise. It is the second largest country in the Caribbean with a growing economy, as well as friendly and welcoming people, and a charming lifestyle.
Due to its location as part of the Tropic of Cancer, the Dominican Republic offers a tropical weather year-round. The average annual temperature fluctuates between 18C or 65F, and 27C or 81F.
It also has a breathtaking geography of mountains, rivers, lush vegetation, and valleys that mix with the pristine and warm waters of the Caribbean and Atlantic Seas, and the golden beaches.
Fresh homemade meals are prepared daily. Pre-breakfast will include fruit, juice and cereal before the surf session. Main breakfast after surfing, lunch, and dinner will be based on fixed menus. Dinner includes starter, main course and dessert and 1 glass of wine as courtesy. Vegetarian menu is available upon request.
Arrive at the Puerto Plata Airport (POP) in Dominican Republic.
Airport transfers to and from the villa in North Shore, Sosua are included and will be arranged.
