The Surf Ranch

The Surf Ranch is Nicaraguas first and only action sports resort, featuring Nicaraguas largest skateboard park, jungle paintball course, rock climbing wall, airbag jump, volleyball court, world class restaurant and bar, swim up bar, poolside, cabanas, standard rooms, villas, and deluxe condos. The Surf Ranch offers many extreme sports and activities such as surfing, skateboarding, sailing, fishing, yoga, paintball, rock climbing, and more. Whether you are looking for an adventure or to just simply getaway and relax, the Surf Ranch has it all. It is located in the tropical town of San Juan del Sur, two hours southwest from the main capital, Managua.

San Juan del Sur

San Juan del Sur is a municipality and coastal town on the Pacific Ocean, in the Rivas region in south-west Nicaragua. San Juan del Sur is popular among surfers and is a vacation spot for many Nicaraguan families and foreign tourists. Its population is approximately 18,500 consisting largely of families engaged in fishing and foreigners from the United States, Canada, and Europe.

While the local economy was, for many years, based on fishing and shipping, it has shifted towards tourism in the last 20 years. San Juan del Sur, set aside the crescent-shaped bay, was a popular resting place for American gold prospectors headed to California in the 1850s. Correspondingly, San Juan del Sur served as a hub for Cornelieus Vanderbilt Lines. Nowadays, it has been the set for Hollywood and TV shows, such as Survivor.

San Juan del Surs streets are lined with charming homes and store fronts built of wood and painted in vibrant colors. Mornings are greeted with the sounds of roosters and church bells, and the town market comes alive where fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables are brought in for sale. Taxi and bus drivers congregate on Market Street, where they whistle and announce the next departure for Rivas or Managua, or offer their services to drive you to a local beach for the day.

The crescent shaped bay is speckled with local fishing boats, sail boats, sport fishing yachts, and on some days, a large cruise ship bringing visitors in for a day. Thatch-roofed or palapa roof bars and restaurants line the long, sandy beach and serve cold drinks, fresh seafood, and traditional Nicaraguan cuisine. At sunset, both locals and visitors gather at the waters edge to relax and watch children play soccer on the beach.

Almost all tourists and travelers who visit San Juan Del Sur, usually end up staying for years after or come back to visit. There seems to be an attractive aura and a special charm to the town. More often than not, you will meet the locals and local expats who have stayed and have been living in San Juan Del Sur for years. Once you meet them, you will be introduced to a new circle of lifelong friends.

This is one of the funnest things to do and you must try it, after all we offer it for free to all resort guests and only 5 USD for drop ins.

Want to explore San Juan in style? Simply book any of the above vehicles at the reception. You will then be driven to town to get equipped on the vehicle of your choice. The prices are per hour, if you rent for five or eight hours, the price per hour will be cheaper, please ask at the reception. The ATV's and motorcycles range from 15 USD to 45 USD per hour, depending on the type of vehicle.

Billiards table

There is a billiards table located above the reception, beside the bar, on the lower platform. The balls and cues are already at the table and use of the pool table is free for all guests and visitors.

Catamaran sailing

Come sail on Nicaraguas first and only catamaran yacht charter. You will be taken on the ride of your life, exploring the tropical coastline of Nicaragua. Whether its for fishing, hanging out with new friends, exploring, snorkeling, partying, or simply just getting away from it all. Captain Zach Meyer and the crew will cater to your every need, never letting your glass get empty and providing you with snacks and fresh ceviche.

An English speaking captain and fishing guide takes you out on a 25-foot yacht. You will be trawling and fishing from the boat five miles out in the ocean (beautiful perspective of Nicaragua). You will be fishing for mackerel and mahi mahi, among other types of fish. For six to eight hour trips, it includes sandwiches, pizza, and drinks. The cost is 55 USD per person (two person minimum) for two and a half hours, 330 USD total for six people (six hours), and 440 USD total for six people (eight hours).

Gym pass

There is a large gym in San Juan Del Sur equipped with a variety of exercise machines and equipment. There is also a boxing ring and MMA training area. They play music while you work out and you can also buy water, smoothies, and even get a massage. The cost is 3 USD per person to enter, but if you are a guest at the Surf Ranch, you get free entry.

Horseback riding

The rides cater to the adventurous traveler and they also host smaller, intimate groups of up to six riders for guided trail rides. They take you through the valleys, across rivers, small villages, dry tropical forests, mountain tops, and of course the beaches. You will first meet your horse and receive a brief introduction, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat. The rides include your choice of sunsets, mountain ridges, beach, or night tours.

They have an on-site massage at the Surf Ranch, you can choose to get it done anywhere at the resort, including your room. Different types of massages are available, including Thai, Swiss, deep tissue, shiatsu, and relaxing massages for one hour. Please book at the reception and allow travel time for the masseuse to arrive.

Paintball is a great way to get your adrenaline pumping. Shooting M-16 assault rifle guns at your friends while dodging their bullets is a great feeling, especially when you hit them. There is always non stop laughing and talk for days after. The paintball course is set in the jungle, with pathways, and various obstacles. There is an onsite gear shop with all equipment included and refills available.

The rappelling tours are like no other. First you start off on a 30 minute hike to the cliffs on the south side of San Juan Del Sur, including a visit to the ruins of an old fort and amazing views of the coastline. Then you gear up and descend down a 100 meter rock wall, finishing on the rock outcrop on the bottom at sea level. You then gear down, cool off in the ocean, and enjoy the boat ride back while enjoying a cold drink.

Scuba diving

Nicaragua is not known as the greatest place on earth to scuba dive, but the coast of San Juan Del Sur does have a huge variety of sea life. The most popular spots are two rock islands and a ship wreck just to the south. At about 50 feet down, you will see turtles, sting rays, a variety of fish and eels, sea snakes, and even dolphins and whales if you are lucky. The scuba shop is Padi certified and offers all courses and types of dives.

The Surf Ranch skateboard park is the largest and best designed skatepark in the country of Nicaragua. It is a street style park with handrails, ledges, banks, hips, manual boxes, step ups, quarter pipes, and banks to ledges and rails. It is designed for beginners, intermediate, and pros. There is a skateboard shop being built on site for rentals and purchases. In between skating you can eat at the restaurant or chill at the swim up bar.

San Juan Del Sur has a beautiful coastline and a rock reef for as far as the eye can see. There are miles of points and reefs from five feet to 50 feet, perfect for spearfishing. The water is warm from April to January. From January until the end of March, the water is very clear, but really cold and you will need a wetsuit.

Turtle tours

The turtle season is from July to February. Please ask the reception when there will be turtles and they will get this information for you. If there are turtles that night, you will be picked up from the Surf Ranch and driven south to La Flor beach in time to catch the turtles laying eggs at sunset. The expedition is four to six hours and you must register at the reception in advance.

The Surf Ranch trampoline is located next to the air pad drop. It is free to use for all Surf Ranch guests and visitors. They also have tramp skates available to rent for free at the reception.

They have a sand volleyball court at the resort. It is located in between the condos and the swimming pool. Volleyball is free for all guests and visitors. Ask at the reception or bar for the volleyball and they will be more than happy to provide it to you.

Wakeboarding in San Juan Del Sur is not the best, due to choppy water. So they will bring you up to the town of Granada, hop in the boat, gear up, and wakeboard though the 300 islands scattered on the edge of Lake Nicaragua. You then stop on a private island for lunch and drinks, before you head back out on the water for another wakeboard session. They also have jet skis available for rent to explore the ancient islands.

The Surf Ranch rock climbing wall is the first in Nicaragua. Although they are the first and only in Nicaragua, they kept rates low at only 10 USD per person. The wall is 24 feet high and 32 feet wide, with three different sections. One section is a flat wall, the second section is a gradual overhang incline, and the thirrd section slopes in then back out half way through. They have routes available for everyone from beginners to pros. The rockclimbing wall is available for everyone over the age of eight years old, and there is no weight limit.

The zip lining course is the only one in San Juan Del Sur and the best in Nicaragua. There are over 17 platforms, with 2.5 km of cables to slide across over the top and through the Nicaraguan Jungle. Amazing views and wildlife, make this zip line tour a must do on your trip to Nicaragua. During the horseback ride up to the top, you will also get to see ancient petroglyphs hidden just below the waterfall.

There is an on-site massage option at the Surf Ranch. You can choose to get it done anywhere at the resort, including your room. Different types of massages are available, including Thai, Swiss, deep tissue, shiatsu, and relaxing massages for one hour. The massage costs 45 USD per hour.

"Extremely friendly and helpful hotel staff and wonderful classes for all levels led by a team of experienced instructors. The hotel itself was somewhat far from town, requiring us to rely on the shuttle service or taxis. The rooms were comfortable but not luxurious and the hotel menu, while limited, had very delicious food. It's important to note that the yoga classes are not at the hotel itself, but the hotel does shuttle you to and from the yoga studio at whatever class time you wish to attend." website, edited

"I booked the all-inclusive 5 night yoga package. Everyone was super friendly. Most of the staff spoke English-which worked out nicely for me as I don't speak Spanish, but there was a little language barrier with a couple of the bar-tenders. The included drinks were good-I asked for blended watermelon with rum and no sugar-it was a staple for me. The food was simple, and with the exception of breakfast, it seemed a little American-which is also ok, I did eat a couple of meals in town so I could try some more local cuisine like Nacatamal."

"the pool was a nice temperature and well maintained. The shuttle was consistent and easy to use. It picks up/drops at the Barrios Cafe which is a good location in town."

"I guess the only thing that's keeping me from giving this place 5 stars would be that daily housekeeping of my room was not part of the package. They did come one time during my stay though. This is ok, because I knew this ahead of time and I know they would have come daily for a fee. "

"Regarding the yoga...I had private transportation TO and FROM Zen Yoga in town. This open air yoga studio was great! I had 3 classes taught by Elizabeth and one Yin Yoga class taught by Hilary in the evening. I loved them all. After my final yoga class Elizabeth gave me some tips and even recommend a local surf shop and shuttle to a great beach ;)"

"The bed I slept in in Standard Room #5 was INCREDIBLY COMFY!"

"The security at SR was great too! I came back late one night around 1am and the gates were locked, and the security guard walked me to my door where the resident pit-bull-Buddy was even waiting for me!"

"I knew that I would be staying a few miles from town and that was ok too. "

"I loved Surf Ranch and would go again! They attract they type guests that I like to be around. If you want a little more luxury in your stay than the hostels downtown for a reasonable price, stay here!"

"I also used the gym-it was perfect and really clean"

"The Wifi was never a problem, except it was a bit spotty if I was in bed"

"PS: met some great people here!"

"The staff was very friendly and the pool and bar are nice BUT the resort is too far from the beach. The free shuttle into town is rather limited and sometimes does not show up and they don't answer the phone so you end up having to take a taxi. The all inclusive meals are not worth eating so it isn't the deal that you think it is. The rooms are very basic but sufficient because the beach is where I wanted to spend my time."

"A great place to visit and great staff, Edwin, the manager was always accommodating! The brothers Boychuk are awesome host! Wonderful environment, peaceful, quiet, no hassle, easy access to the local town and beaches. Beautiful sites to climb and visit and numerous place to stop and eat. Delicious meals at the Surf Ranch if you want to just relax at the pool! I can't leave out the Ranch's Buddy! A sweetie pie of a dog! Definitely, a place to visit!"

"The Nicaraguan staff, including the manager Edwin, is very nice. Theyre always willing to accommodate guest needs, and I cant talk them up more. Its obvious though that there is a riff between the Nicaraguan staff and the Canadian owners. And at the end of the day, it really does impact service to customers. Im putting thought into this after taking a day to think about my six-day stay, and I hope the owners take the time to hear what I have to say instead of dismissing my impression by rationalizing their resorts shortcomings.Id definitely return to Nicaragua, but probably not Surf Ranch. That doesnt mean I wouldnt mention it to friends, just friends who are very patient and know how to rough it. Heres a play-by-play of our stay: We come in by taxi and its not apparent where check-in is. Some workers watch us meander around with our bags. We pass a guest and ask where to go. He mumbles and points to a desk off to the side. Were two single girls celebrating a 30th birthday and looking for other guests to hang out with during our stay. Our reaction: Dang, hes kind of backward! Surprisingly, we find out later its one of the owners, Lukas. Its pretty dead at the resort. The female worker at the front desk speaks great English, so I dont have to break out my Spanish quite yet. Are there more people here? She smiles and says that there are some. We find out later there are only two. Man, kind of a bummer again. But hey, there will be people at the beach! A quick look around on the way to the room draws three assessments: the rock wall doesnt look like its used much, and the aired up jumping bag is deflated and looking a little crusty. Also, I dont skate, but for those who do, it looks like your standard teenage skate park. We move onto our room. Without investigating too much, it looks like it does in the photos: no a/c but a fan, clean bed, no drawers.I can live out of a suitcase. I try my phone on the wireless network, but it doesnt reach to the non-A/C rooms. Well, that kind of stinks, but Im going to text my family Im here on the wi-fi, so let's get out to the pool! Wait, I want to take a quick shower. Oh wow, it feels like Im standing under a balcony while a guy wizzes on me from above. Only its cold. Theres no water pressure our entire stay. And most of the time, theres no water and we have to ask them to turn it back on. One night, our toilet breaks after the staff leaves. We have to go over twelve hours before a parts replaced with a part from a toilet in another room. Not so awesome to have to walk to the front desk restroom the entire night through the morning. (Note to the owners: Please dont tell me lack of water has to do with the drought. There were only four of us there at that point, and we were the only two in that section of the hotel. You all have some serious water issues. Theres not even water most of the time, probably in part due to the construction on the lower units. I can deal with cold, but we asked you to comp for the lack of water and the toilet. We could tell Edwin was going to have to go through you guys. Really? You gave us ten dollars off. So two pina coladas when we spent around $800 at your resort? I kind of wanted to tell you that you sucked at this point.) We take our short walk to the pool and I text, Arrived in Nicaragua at the hotel. Lets just say you get what you pay for. Mom: I dont understand what that means. Does this cost money? Parents and iPhones. No one is here . Love you, catch you later. My friend and I go for a swim. The pools clean. It has seats and a water bar. There's enough seating and couches around the pool. Plug-ins for phones, lights at night. And Buddy the dog, well, he's awesome. Sorry though men, he's partial to women. Honestly, I feel a little safer with Buddy on my tail everyday. Safety never feels like an issue. They have a night guard, and the staff continues to have trustworthy rapport. At night, we hang out at the bar with the other two guests. Victoria Frost is flowing and we all have a pretty good time. On to our rooms for bed. GASP! There are red ants, everywhere. The room isn't properly sealed and theyre coming in via the bathroom. Edwin assures us they don't bite like American red ants. But hey, I don't want to sleep with ants in my pants. We move to another room and it doesnt have a window like our former room on the end. But whatever. We assess the room and the showerhead breaks off. Okay, Edwin moves us again. We're all good now. We go to sleep with our little bellies filled with beer. The room's hot, but we blast the fan. The electricity cuts throughout the night and we continually wake up to turn the fan back on. Patience isn't waning yet. Time for a new day. Breakfast can be ordered at 8 a.m. We order the free breakfast of a tortilla or toast, eggs, and rice and beans. No pico de gallo/sauce comes as advertised. Pass the hot sauce!I pay a dollar extra for a piece of bacon and another dollar extra for a plate of fruit. No huge gripes, although a little weird that each coffee refill is charged. The first free shuttle leaves at 8:30 a.m. for Remosa Beach. Here's the rub: breakfast takes a while to come out. Five minutes to scarf breakfast down on vacation isn't ideal. The second day we tell Edwin this is a little bull since were the only ones at the hotel. Whats with this arbitrary hotel shuttle schedule? He arranges for the shuttle to leave fifteen minutes later, but breakfast that day takes 30 minutes! And it's a little annoying to watch the other owner, Travis, come out of his room, not greet anyone, and then see the workers rush to get him his breakfast before anyone else, probably delaying mine further.Come on guys! The hotel surf rentals dont have any beginner boards. One is kind of okay, but its water-logged. This kind of blows. I bragged to everyone I was going to a Surf Ranch. No beginner boards with the height of the waves, we tap out and decide to watch. One of the new guests come in with a bloody gash after not standing up, and she complains about the board not being suitable for a beginner. We could pay extra for a board at the beach, but hey, isnt a suitable board part of our package? The shuttle arrives at 11:15 to pick us up from Remosa. We were hardly at the beach! Whatever man. Im starting to get a little irked at this point. Whats up with the scheduling guys? Ah, I get it. The shuttle has a dual purpose. Its for the guests, but also to shuttle around workers and run errands. We start to realize it doesn't operate on the guests schedule. We go in that day and spend some time at the hotel. We ask them to air up the jumping bag. As I write this review, Im staring at the open wound on my arm. We all get some serious rash burn from jumping. The bag sits in the sun and isnt sprayed down before jumping. Its hot as heck and when you land it rubs your skin raw. Wear a long sleeve shirt! We go to our room to take a shower in the non-existent water pressure. Oh wait, the water doesnt even work. Have to trek back downstairs and wait for them to turn it back on. Spanish-language survival kicks in. No hay agua, otra vez!We spend the night-in at the hotel. Lucas shows up with a girl. He doesnt look so awkward this time around, but hes still just as unfriendly. Immediately the staff starts to be more responsive than ever. They run over and ask us if were okay. I ask my friend, Dont you get the feeling that the staff is kind of scared of the owners, but at the same time, they dont respect them? You know, like they jump up and run around for them when theyre on site, but when theyre not around, they dont really care about the place. Kind of like, screw those guys. Yep. We go back to our room which is twice as hot as it is outside. We usually open our door while were at the pool so it can cool off. It faces the morning sun so it heats up quickly. Probably a design flaw to build the non-A/C rooms directly toward the sun. At night its unbearable to keep the door closed with the fan. So we leave the door open. Like I said, it feels pretty safe. Only problem is that theres no screen on the door.I leave with mosquito bites all over me, even huge bites on my face. I guess we were supposed to bring a mosquito net? I get it, there are mosquitos. But yo, Im not sleeping in a sweatbox. Guess I should have brought mosquito spray. My bad. The next day we go to Hermosa Beach. For anyone visiting, go there! Its huge with hammocks and shelters on the edge of it. Theres a local bar. All the ex-pats and locals show up in the evening to surf. It was the best part of the trip. I highly suggest it. It just costs $13 round-trip for the shuttle to take you there and a $3 entrance fee. You can get by with US currency, just make sure you can help with the conversion if you bring large bills. Just a warning with the shuttle -- youre on Nicaragua time. Theyll usually be 20 to 30 minutes late. You'll get used to it.We stay on this routine for the rest of the stay. We see Lukas and Travis multiple times, even watch them skate. They never say hello. The staff continues to be entertained (without every showing annoyance) at our attempts to speak Spanish, we tell them a little about us and exchange laughs, assess the new guests. We go to town with a few others who start to fill in for the holiday weekend. The same sentiments are echoed. Another AC room isnt sealed properly and the guys are upgraded to a room without cockroaches. Why werent we upgraded? Oh well. Echoes of, Hey, this isnt really what was advertised! are heard. All the new guests go through the initial dazed look. I, meanwhile, am down with a stomach bug, but it is what it is. I didnt get it at the hotel.Construction starts in the room below me and I cant even be down for the count to sleep. I go tell Edwin and he has them cut the construction. I feel bad, but then, should I? At least Edwins around. So there it is. Brevity was never a forte of mine, but now you know our stay. I get it, it's Nicaragua. I know how to rough it up, but I also understand how far my dollar should get me. Nicaragua is the place of opportunity for builders. Its cheap and the regulations are more lenient. I even got to meet more young, budding-builders on the flight home. Its obvious whats going on here in retrospect. These owners are young and seizing the opportunity to be enterprising and entrepreneurial. Hats off to you guys. It just has to be the complete package, including hospitality services and at least saying hello to your guests. Please don't blame the management and staff, it's obvious their hands are tied to an extent. And this type of stuff is a top-down approach. Hopefully you can turn Surf Ranch around. I wish you the best."

"We stayed at the surf ranch for 5 nights and our stay was very pleasant. If you don't enjoy hostels like myself then this is the best hotel you will find in San Juan for a fair price. Standard rooms are equipped with everything you need. The staff were very friendly especially the receptionist and bar staff who were very helpful during our stay. The food is good and you have a good selection to choose from. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a short comfortable stop over."

"I stumbled upon the surf ranch and found it to be an extremely appealing resort in a beautiful destination. Upon arrival I was not disappointed, nor did I feel misled through the pictures provided. The staff was extremely helpful and fun (plus there were monkeys playing in the trees that line the property.) The food and drink service provided is great and I opted to eat there many times never being disappointed. The Surf Ranch is the type of place you can hang out at for your whole vacation and have fun, but to make things even better the beach town of San Juan Del Sur is just a few minutes away and the resort provides free shuttles throughout the day.I was motivated to go to the Surf Ranch because I love activities, especially surfing and skating. By making that decision I had some sessions in the skate park that were so incredibly fun and scored some of the best waves of my life.I can also say the there was diversity within the guests at the resort and a good time is not just limited to people that surf and skate. This place can be a great time for couples, families, a group of girlfriends, etc. If you like having fun and experiencing beautiful places, the Surf Ranch provides all the amenities necessary to have a phenomenal time! I could write an elaborate essay on all the shenanigans and incredible experiences I had, but surprise is part of the adventure. I highly advise that you go to San Juan Del Sur and stay at the Surf Ranch. I know I'll be back.", edited

"My friend and I booked a six days yoga retreat at the Surf Ranch and I am afraid to say that the so-called yoga retreat was an absolute disaster! We paid a price of 701 USD, which included accommodation, three meals a day, certain beverages, one yoga class per day, transport to the yoga classes since they were not onsite, and surf boards. I am going to provide a quite detailed explanation of our experience since it was frankly very disappointing and we felt completely ripped off.The place is located outside San Juan del Sur, slightly isolated but the location is nice and the hotel provides free shuttles to San Juan, the schedule is somewhat limited, every 3-hours but I guess thats ok, and also to one of the beaches in the area (Remanso Beach). The staff in general was quite nice, specially Vismar and the drivers, and tried to be as helpful as they could but were not informed of the things that were included in our package and didnt seem to have any authority (including the manager) to make any decisions when problems with customers arose. The rooms we had were basic but nice (Rooms 6 and 7). Since they were quite empty during our stay, we were given two separate rooms instead of a room for the two of us. They are more or less spacious and had two fans (we did not book rooms with AC) but did not have any closets to put our things. Additionally, the shower in room No. 6 had hardly pressure so I had to take all showers at my friends room. Also note that there is no hot water although it is not really necessary taking into account how warm it was.1. Yoga retreat itself: The advertisement we found of the yoga retreat said they do it all year round (versus other places that only have them during certain weeks). We were told that since there werent any other people doing the retreat on those dates we would have to take the yoga classes at the yoga center in town with which we agreed. When we checked in upon our arrival and we requested the information on the yoga schedule and how things worked the staff could not provide us any information up front but agreed to call the center the next morning for us. The next morning we kept being put off and were not given the information until 4pm after having been waiting at the hotel for hours trying to organize our day. Later we found out that the schedule was actually online so they could have checked right away for us!Out of the five classes we were supposed to have, we ended up only being able to do three since one day they picked us up from the beach 2-hours late from the time we had agreed (prior payment of 15 USD per person) and did not make on time for the yoga class and then they failed to inform us that the schedule for the classes on Friday was different so when we showed up for the 6pm class, we were told that on Fridays the class was at 5pm instead. The only positive thing that I can mention about the yoga is the Zen Yoga Center itself. The location is beautiful and quite nice and the classes were good.2. Meals included: The general menu offered in the hotel is quite nice and offers a good variety for a good price (the food is actually good!). However, I think every single day there were quite a few things that could not be ordered since they had run out of basic ingredients such as chicken, beef, tortillas, etc. I understand that this may happen once but it is unacceptable that it happened every single day that we were there. To the contrary the menu included in our package was very poor and limited! Specially taking into account that from the already limited menu you could not order half of the things because they had run out of something. When we complaint to the manager, we were told that there was nothing they could do so we requested to talk to the owners (who live at the hotel). When we finally managed to talk to one of the owners about the problems we were having, he first blamed the staff and the fact that they had recently hired everyone (which I personally find unacceptable! If you have new staff you train then and, in any case, assume the consequences of a poorly run business). This was probably the only problem that was solved during our stay: we were offered to order from the general menu for the remainder of our stay.3. Surf boards included: The hotel has around 10 boards available for rent and in our case the use thereof was included within the price. However, most of them are advanced boards and my friend, who was a beginner, had to rent a board at the beach for the classes every day.4. Check out: When we were doing the check out and were provided with the final account to pay, they initially included all the meals that were not supposed to be charged as agreed with the owner; surfing classes that we didnt do were also included. We had to complaint for another long 45 minutes, almost loosing our last yoga class, and it was finally deducted from what we had to pay.5. Price of the retreat: After talking with some of the other guests staying at the Surf Ranch we realized that the price we paid was very high in comparison with other options. I would have been happy with it had things worked out correctly but instead felt completely ripped off. Once we found out what other guests were paying for accommodation, breakfast, and a selection of drinks, and we saw the prices charged by the yoga studio we realized that it would have been far cheaper to book things separately than this way. As I said, if things had run smoothly we wouldnt have minded but we felt like the guinea pigs of the so-called yoga retreat and firmly believe that we should have been offered some kind of refund.", edited

"We stayed for 5 nights in deluxe condo, and couldn't be happier. The place is awesome and the staff is really helpful. We even had our own rooftop terrace, which is perfect for looking at sunset behind the mountains. I also loved the fact that there is so many activities that you can do at the hotel area. I had to work during my stay, and the Wifi was really good!"

"When we stayed at the ranch, it was still being completed. Still, it was a good place to stay and they got us to the waves. It's not on the water so they have shuttles to take you to the beaches. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is good too."

"The Surf Ranch was as good as it looks! Everyone there was super nice and accommodating. All the other guests were friendly, outgoing, and mellow. I seriously met people that will be friends for life! The skatepark every evening was amazing. The food is cheap and really good. They took us to different beaches and to town any time we wanted. I will definitely be returning! Thanks Lucas, Travis, Buddy, and everyone else down there!"
