"The second hardest part of the Surf Goddess Retreats is handing over the fantastic plastic, no denying. The hardest part, HOWEVER, will be leaving as it is amazingly well worth it.I was picked up from my hotel and winged my way through the narrowest of streets dodging 50 million scooters to an oasis in the heart of Seminyak. Ashley was there to greet on arrival and I was graciously upgraded to my own room. The communal dinner on the first night was just what I needed, as a first timer to Bali and this was my longest trip as a solo traveler. Yoga and surfing was sensational and Alisha & Sharni happily help everyone out with whatever level youre at.I choose snorkeling as my bliss day activity and it was also well worth it. Lunch was provided but either take some snacks and drinks (water is provided) or some extra cash to spend at the gorgeous caf on the beach where youll have lunch. The retreat organized getting a few of us to a fabric store and organized a Seamstress to visit the retreat where I got a beautiful dress made. The food is amazing. The smoothies are great- Mango and yoghurt for life!! The two nights where dinner is on you is towards the end of the week, so you will definitely be comfortable with everyone by then (I went in a small group) and the retreat does make recommendations (hint: Sardine)Did I mention the UNLIMITED spa and the worlds best chocolate cookies, magically refilled every day by cookie fairies? Like any adventure, it will be what you make of it. So go with an open heart and mind and youll be amazed. Thanks to the entire Surf Goddess team for an incredible week and bringing together incredible women. Full of laughs, tears and empowering women of such diversity. Bring on Snow Goddess 2017!!"

"I'm a surfer now. Who knew right before my 50th birthday I'd learn how to surf!?! Surf Goddess Retreats is so much more than a vacation and an opportunity to learn how to surf.Let's start at the beginning. Surf Goddess Retreats takes care of all of your logistics. Book your flight, let them know and they'll have the driver collect you from and return you to the airport. Hanging out in Bali before and/or after your Surf Goddess Retreat, no problem, they'll have a driver collect you from the airport and/or collect you from the location you're in when the retreat starts. Hanging out in Bali after the retreat to chill, they'll have a driver drop you at your next location.Surfing: they use the Rip Curl School of surfing and the guys at the school will have you standing up and surfing by the end of the week. You may not be ready to surf Hawaii's North Shore in December, but if you're like me, you'll tell everyone you can surf! Yoga: it's daily and usually twice a day. You don't have to be a yogi to do yoga. The instructors adjust to your level and help you get the most out of your yoga sessions.I know this all sounds exhausting, right!?! Never fear, the on premises spa will recharge/relax you. You get unlimited treatments (you must schedule them) while you're on the retreat. Hot stone massages, pedicures, manicures, aroma therapy... I could go on forever.Thinking to yourself, what a grind... yoga, surf, spa treatment, yoga, spa treatments... how to break up the monotony. There's the bliss day for that. You pick your adventure (they'll provide you with a list of options [I chose Balinese cooking] but there are more exciting options like rafting, cycle tours [that one is actually all downhill], temple visits etc...) and the staff will take care of the rest.If you're thinking, this sounds OK, but what about meals. Food, it's my thing and Surf Goddess delivers in spades. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all taste amazing, but the presentation... beautiful. All of the goddesses dine together and there's always a member of staff at each meal to ensure any last minute logistics are handled or to make sure you're good to go with your spa schedule for the day. If you have any dietary concerns, let Surf Goddess know before you arrive and they will ensure you get beautiful delicious meals that fit within your dietary constraints. We had one person who was gluten free, a vegetarian and I believe a vegan. Nobody complains about the food. Keep in mind, Surf Goddess Retreats is neither a diet nor cleanse program. You're on vacation, don't count calories!Waiting for your next spa treatment and don't know what to do? Heck, lounge by the pool, head over to an outdoor covered area bed type thing for a read (yeah, I pretended to read and napped each time I was there). There's also an upstairs outdoor sitting area. Because of how the property is arranged, I didn't explore the other villas. The villa with my room was in the same area as the spa room, outdoor dining room (not like there's an indoor dining room) pool, yoga area (also outdoors) and office. There's are options for rooms. You can share or not. I don't share (totally another post in another forum). I had a single room with private bath. The shower was an indoor/outdoor sort of affair. You're indoors, but the roof lets the sun in. Surf Goddess provides you with soap, shampoo and conditioner. I only used the soap, so you'll need to check other reviews about the shampoo and conditioner. You're also provided with a hair dryer (you'll never use it), those cotton pads to remove make-up and a shower cap. If you forget anything, you're within walking distance of a Circle K. But, ask the staff first, they can probably provide it for you. They also keep a stock of aloe vera for post sun soothing. When I first booked, I was rather concerned about the other women who would be on the retreat. The website has early 20-somethings on it, so I thought I'd be the oldest person there. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of women there. Among 14 women, we hailed from four continents and ranged in age from the 20s to 50s. It was a really good mix that worked well. We also had diverse backgrounds that led to interesting meal chat as you tried to get to know each other. If you're an introvert, the fist couple of meals can be daunting, but it really does work out.So, what did I really think? The staff might be the most available staff I've ever come into contact with. There's absolutely nothing you can't ask for and they're always happy to make your stay even better (not kidding, learned the hard way, just ask). The villas and grounds are gorgeous and lush (Bali is tropical) and well maintained (watching the gardener sweep the leaves up every afternoon always gave me a bit of a giggle). I'm neither an athlete nor flexible, but I managed to surf and do yoga (did I mention I'm not flexible?) and again, the staff made it work for me. In the end, great facility, great program set up for the retreat , amazing food!!!, but what really makes Surf Goddess Retreat the best thing you'll ever do for yourself are a staff who will make everything you want/need happen. They'll do it with a smile and quickly."

"I literally had saved Surf Goddess Retreats as a favorite website for three years on my computer...I had travelled extensively and had attended other fitness type retreats. I expected this retreat to be exciting and fun but I didn't expect to be blown away. Blown away I was...I'm not sure even where to begin, but I'll try. What made my experience so memorable were the individuals that led the retreat. So much sincere effort, warmth, and generosity was exuded daily by our Goddess leaders.Joyce--our concierge and private chef was incredible.. so much so I asked her to adopt me : ) Every meal was an insane, delicious and artistic master piece. I'm not exaggerating; the Goddess kitchen rivaled any five star restaurant.. My mouth is still drooling from the gourmet bliss.Melinda, our surf coach went above and beyond to help everyone regardless of their level of surfing experience. She even added in extra surf time by taking the advanced beginners and intermediates out at dawn to secluded surf breaks. I felt as though I had a private trainer out there in the water and there is no greater rush than taking that first wave as the sun is rising.Susan our yoga guru was lovely, insightful and also incredibly generous with her time and attention. Each class was unique and thoughtful and definitely had a healing effect upon our tired and sore surf bodies.Chelsea, Chelsea..how could i forget the supreme Goddess, creator and kahuna extraordinaire? This is one cool woman. She led this retreat so smoothly and never did I hear the word "no" come from her voice. She bent over backwards to make every one's experience enjoyable. So many thoughtful details it would take me five hours to list them all...but here are a few notables: top notch accommodations..Private and luxurious without being pretentious. Great equipment...every size and shape board for any level of surfer.Bliss day..which was a pick your poison since every choice was amazing.. white water rafting, cooking class, bike trekking, spa treatments, ..I'm forgetting a few I'm sure.Ah and the group...I must admit I was a bit leery about being around an estrogen filled villa for an entire week. However the women that attended were extraordinary and had travelled from all areas of the globe. We all bonded through this amazing experience and I felt as though I had new sisters by the end of the retreat. I'm getting vaclempt just thinking about how beautiful it was to watch everyone improve, and grow as surfers. It is difficult to describe the inner strength that we all were tapping into by the end of the week.A Ghandi quote that I had heard many years ago finally began to resonate with me..."Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."The retreat just ended but I know I'll still be carrying the pitter patter in my heart for a long time. The Surf Goddess Retreat affirmed for me that adventure is good for the soul. So my advice to those considering this vacation is an affirmative, carpe diem. Go for it because the experience you'll have is priceless."

"My Awakening...I had the amazing pleasure of attending the Surf Goddess Retreat this month May 2010. Truly words cannot capture this experience; from the very first day, I felt I was able to leave behind my everyday life and enter into a true Goddess haven. As I open the door of Retreat facility I was transported to an oasis of comfort.... The decor at the Villa is perfect down to the smallest of details (flowers in the toilet), rooms are so tranquil and clean, the pool and dining area are surrounded by the most gorgeous immaculately manicured landscaping. As if this relaxing purlieu and esthetically perfect environment is not enough, I was then to be nothing short of pampered, the meals were spectacular, the staff were friendly and helpful, on site massages, transport, proximity to shopping and activities everything was perfect.I felt we each attending Goddess was each given such individual care and focus for example I have some dietary restrictions (shell fish and peanuts) and I was catered to. Joyce is so talented, and is also one of the most authentically nurturing people I have ever met; I felt very well taken care of. It would be hard not to have a spiritual experience in this paradise, practicing yoga in the most gorgeous and calm part of the grounds. Then you inject surfing into the experience, I cannot lie I found it challenging but Melinda, Chelsea and the Surf School staff encouraged and guided me (look up), I will never forget the feeling when I finally stood up, the waves underneath me it was an awakening of my inner spirit and strength. You get all this plus you have the pleasure of meeting and sharing your experience with extraordinary, inspiring and diverting women from a variety of backgrounds and realities. For me the entire experience was an awakening, a true gift...my hope is for every woman to give herself this wonderful gift and attend the Surf Goddess Retreat. Thank You to Surf Goddess Retreat (Chelsea, Joyce, Melinda, Susan and friends)."

"At 47 years old, I finally decided that it was time for me to learn to surf! Luckily I found Surf Goddess Retreat (it was recommended by a female business leader in the surf industry). The retreat provided just the right mix of comfort, activities, nurturing (particularly by providing gourmet healthy food), and space to relax. Rooms are classy, Key West bed and breakfast chic style (with air conditioning, nice linens, ceiling fans, and plenty of space). The food provided was creative, delicious, and varied - and we had lots of affordable choices for those meals we ate outside the retreat (a Moroccan restaurant near the villas had excellent food).Massages from recommended therapists can be booked at "home" at the villas for approx. $10 US per hour - a spa room on the property has two massage tables (and air conditioning - yes, you are detecting a theme, it is warm in Bali!).The local surf instructors were enthusiastic and supportive for all skill levels and you can decide how little or how much help you prefer as you learn to ride the wave. Surfing is not easy but it does an amazing thing for your soul: while you are in the ocean with your board you must focus on surfing to the exclusion of anything else, and this is a wonderful gift for those of us who are accustomed to doing a zillion things every day in our work and home life.A wonderful quote (I believe attributed to artist Jane Evershed), prepared me for this retreat: "While others preferred to chase the wave, I chose to ride it."
