The Dahab yoga holidays take place at The Bedouin Moon Hotel, situated on a quiet beachfront, a short distance north of Dahab's Asallah village. The hotel is a small and friendly with simple but comfortable rooms.
All rooms have air conditioning with either a balcony or terrace, en-suite, and either sea or mountain views. Sunra Yoga is now delighted to offer the addition of three stunning superior rooms. Dahab is one of the Red Sea's oldest diving resorts and hosts some of the most spectacular and challenging dive sites in Egypt. It is now just as popular as a beautiful holiday resort destination for those who simply want to relax and get some sun, however, with camels safaris, snorkeling trips, and desert excursions to name a few days out, there is plenty to keep you occupied too.
Named after the Arabic word for gold, Dahab borders the Gulf of Aqaba and is an hour drive through the spectacular desert from the airport in the more commercial resort of Sharm el-Sheikh or a 90-minute drive from Taba airport. But the vibe in Dahab is very different.
The village is a small, vibrant mix of cultures populated with white-robed Bedouin and their brightly adorned camels, the women swathed in black and the children, multicolored and mischievous, are always ready to strike up a deal for a bracelet or two.
Egyptian traders and shopkeepers sell their crafts, food, and wares to the growing number of holidaymakers who are enjoying Dahab's friendly, personal vibe. The bars and cafes almost hover over the water in the bay, where there are plenty of great places to eat and relax after a day at play around the pool or in the sea.
Dahab is a small and friendly village on the Gulf of Aqaba, South Sinai, Egypt. A northern reach of the Red Sea, it developed from a tiny Bedouin settlement to one of the most popular scuba diving areas in the world due to its extremely beautiful coral reefs. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, so ideal for a yoga holiday. Dahab sits between the magnificent Sinai Mountains & the Red Sea, an unusual & spectacular combination. It hosts warm weather all year round, so it's an ideal place to get away from the cold winter of Europe. It's also perfect for singles as it's considered a very safe place for women travelling on their own and so easy to meet people there.
%There are two Sivananda yoga classes per day, each lasting one and a half hours, at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with one free day per week with no classes. Sivananda is a soft, gentle style of Hatha yoga. During the week guests are invited to join an optional Desert Dinner, an incredible experience where you can also meditate in a silence incomparable to any other. Watch for shooting stars in a sky with a million and have dinner cooked by local Bedouin in traditional style. People are so struck they never want to leave.
You will also have the opportunity to go on an optional mini safari to the Three Pools diving and snorkelling site, where we practice our morning yoga session by the sea shore. Afterwards, you can dive or snorkel, eat a delicious lunch prepared by the Bedouin, and spend the afternoon enjoying the sun, sea and tranquility of the Sinai.
On your day off you can visit the famous Mount Sinai and/or visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, or explore Dahab's reefs. You can also go to snorkel at Ras Abu Galum, a small Bedouin village one hour north of Dahab up the coastline, either by foot or camel. Bedouin live there as they have done for centuries and it is still without electricity.
%There is still plenty of time for additional activities which include diving, snorkelling, camel or horse riding, desert dinner / meditation, trekking, mountaineering, and wind or kite surfing.
