You can have a different Christmas this year, get away from it all and head to the sunshine in beautiful Dahab for something different. Come on a yoga holiday where you can also scuba dive, snorkel, and ride camels or horses. Go sea kayaking, trekking, try a desert safari by camel or jeep, dine or sleep under the stars, climb Mount Sinai, or just chill out and have a massage and sunbathe.
The Dahab yoga holidays take place at the Coral Coast Hotel, with a swimming pool, overlooking its own private sandy beach and beach cafe with amazing views over the Red Sea. The rooms are tastefully furnished while some have sea views, en-suite shower rooms, balconies or terraces. It is located a short stroll away from Dahab Bay where you'll find an eclectic, colorful abundance of restaurants, bazaars, and bars all located directly on the beach front. A wonderful place to watch the world go by! The restaurant and beach cafe offers a wide range of Middle Eastern and European dishes and vegetarians are well catered for. The hotel has a wonderful custom built yoga room making your yoga practice special and inspirational.
This holiday give newcomers to yoga a chance to try yoga and see if you like it, or for people already practicing to develop to a higher and deeper level. Either way people get a great deal out of it, both physically and mentally.
The yoga room is a light and airy custom built and dedicated space on the hotel rooftop, with wonderful views of the Red Sea. There are two Sivananda yoga classes per day, each lasting one and a half hours, generally at 08:00 and 17:00 with a morning class only on your last day, a total of 11 classes per one week holiday and with one free day per week.
There are highly qualified professionals to take care of you. Classes are based on Sivananda style which is soft gentle and meditative, not only focusing on breath and stretching but a good workout for the body at the same time. Each Sivananda class incorporates Asanas (postures to give strength and flexibility to the body), Meditation to calm and focus the mind and Pranayama (breathing exercises). They give energy, revitalise and de-toxify, clean the lungs as nothing else can and strengthen the heart.
More and more people are practicing yoga nowadays - even the medical profession recommend it for stress, anxiety and many other ailments so common in the western world. Most people come to chill and that is almost always achieved. People have been known to come for a one week holiday and dramatically change their lifestyle on their return home. It must always be remembered that the practice of yoga is not just about the body. It has a deep effect on the mind in a very positive way.
During the week, you are invited to join an optional dinner in the desert, an incredible experience where you can also meditate in a silence incomparable to any other. Watch for shooting stars in a sky with a million and have dinner cooked by local Bedouin in traditional style.
You will also have the opportunity to go on a mini safari to the Three Pools diving and snorkeling site, weather permitting, where you practice your morning yoga session by the sea shore. Afterward, you can dive or snorkel, eat a delicious lunch prepared by the Bedouin, and spend the afternoon enjoying the sun, sea, and tranquility of the Sinai.
The group generally goes out for dinner together a couple of evenings in the week to one of Dahab's many great restaurants. On your day off, you can visit the famous Mount Sinai or visit Saint Catherine’s monastery, or explore Dahab's reefs. You can also go snorkeling at Ras Abu Galum, a small Bedouin village one hour north of Dahab up the coastline, either by foot or camel. Bedouin live there as they have done for centuries and it is still without electricity.
There is still plenty of time for additional activities which include diving, snorkeling, camel, or horse riding, desert dinner or meditation, trekking, mountaineering, and wind or kite surfing.
