Get excited about seven enjoyable days for your body, mind, soul, and inspiration in nature.
The Mamma Shanti house is a home-away-from-home. They welcome in each person not as a guest but as a fellow dweller sharing in our secluded spot of serenity for as long as they choose. The house is comfortable and intimate offering all the lushness of modern amenities with the wildness of Sri Lanka growing on its doorstep. They offer two luxury, ensuite double rooms. Each is kitted with its own private wrap around balcony, hot water shower, and quite possibly the biggest bed you’ve ever had the pleasure of sinking into.
Saraii is the best place to escape the sizzling heat thanks to the cool cover of a man-made mini canopy of over 1,000 trees. You will enjoy a truly rustic stay with the feel of a private home in the wilds thrown in. All rooms at Saraii Village have free Wi-Fi, extra beds, a lounge, fresh linen, free natural toiletries, tea and coffee, room service, a private bathroom, and luggage storage.
You will spend three nights in an eco-hotel, close to Yala National Park, practicing different styles of yoga and meditative techniques under the guidance of an experienced teacher. There is no minimum number, so you may be lucky and have one to one tuition or in a small group with a maximum of four participants.
A wide range of meditative techniques is provided: Anapanasati, a traditional Buddhist meditation; dynamic meditations from kundalini yoga; and special anti-stress meditation. A deeply relaxing traditional Ayurvedic full-body massage will help you to release stress from your body and mind.
You will have a great opportunity to explore the amazing local nature during your visit to Yala National Park and a bird-watching boat tour. On your last morning in Saraii, you will have an amazing yoga session and breakfast by the lake and then head on to Ella. The heat of the South suddenly disappears and a pleasant fresh breeze soothes your mind. Ella is a hill-country village blessed with the most beautiful views in Sri Lanka.
Salute the rise of each new day with an active Vinyasa practice, meditate at secluded spots hidden deep within the wild banana plantation and magical forest, and wind your way down with evening Yin and yoga Nidra sessions as the fireflies light up the night. From forest walks to mountain meanders, secret waterfalls, and undiscovered trails, sense satiating yoga, and delectable Sri Lankan bounty, this holiday has them all.
Anna has been practicing different styles of yoga and meditation for nine years. Four years ago, she finished her job in Russia and started her self-discovery journey. She has spent one month in Chiang-Mai doing a Thai massage course, then, she moved to India and spent six months doing Ayurveda Therapist training in Ananda SPA Institute and yoga training in Sivananda Yoga Ashram. For the last three years, she has been working as a yoga instructor and massage therapist in Sri Lanka. Here she has done several 10-day Vipassana meditation courses.
The first part of the retreat will be held at the Saraii Village in Weeravila, Sri Lanka. Saraii Village is located in Weerawila, in a prime spot among other Tissamaharama hotels, not far from Tissamaharama and Kataragama. This area is famous for the beautiful lakes and ancient temples, and known as "Yala gates".
Saraii is one of the most sought-after Weerawila hotels nestled inside a private estate in the middle of the dry zone. At Saraii, the grounds have large green trees that are rare in the dry zone, which is known for its biting heat and lack of shade cover. Today, Saraii's garden is a haven for all visitors and that includes the birds, squirrels, insects, reptiles, and amphibians.
Boasting a magnificent view of Ella Rock, Little Adam’s Peak and Ravana Waterfall, with only the sights and sounds of nature all around - Mamma Shanti makes the ideal getaway for the second leg of our yoga and meditation retreat.

The authentic Sri Lankan meals are from a seasonal menu that is decided by what is growing in the local garden, what is selling at the local market, and what can be found locally.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be an abundant spread of local fruit, traditional Sri Lankan curries and salads, lots of bread and rice. Please inform us about any food preferences and we will make all arrangements.
