Guests are situated in rooms within three semi-attached cottages, according to both preference and practical logistics. Cottage communal areas, including bathrooms, lounges, balconies, terraces, etc. are shared between guests and hosts alike, along with life stories and special moments. A spiritual, "shabby-chic", Dalmatian island farm-cottage ambiance prevails, and the atmosphere here is that of a supportive family of spiritually minded friends.

Earth and Fire cottage

Three single rooms with fans and space heaters, located on the upper floor of the main retreat cottage. A spacious house bathroom located on the ground floor (up to three guests sharing) is reserved for residential guests only. The ground floor also features the main retreat living and dining area, which is open to all retreat participants until 10 p.m.The enclosed garden, with dining and lounge areas, is located here as well as the outdoor yoga terrace. Rooms one and three offer a single bed, room two comes complete with a double bed, perfect for individuals who require a larger mattress size.

Ether cottage

These elegant and beautiful, newly-built attic rooms come equipped with private, en-suite bathrooms and en-suite air-conditioning or heating. Both mini suite and master suite feature two single beds that can be placed side by side, perfect for friends or couples traveling together, or solo travelers open to sharing with a new retreat mate, or as a single for those in need of extra privacy and comfort while on retreat during the yoga B&B events.

Wind and Air cottage

This cottage features a romantically-furnished double room that comes complete with an adjacent bathroom, kitchenette and covered terrace with a view to the veggie garden. The cottage has air-conditioning and heating. Room four can be fitted with a combination of beds - a beautiful metal-framed double bed (or) two restored twin wooden beds. Booking priority is generally given to friends, couples or family members traveling together on retreat, but it may also be booked by solo travelers open to sharing with a new retreat mate. The room may also be booked as an individually priced luxury single room with private bathroom for those in need of extra privacy while on retreat. Please enquire about the price.

Shared facilities

In addition to the outdoor yoga terrace and a newly built indoor practice area, other shared facilities include the main living room and indoor dining area, an enclosed garden with outdoor dining area, as well as several other patios, decks, balconies in which guests enjoy socializing in with new retreat friends. Each cottage also features a tea-making corner, where you can prepare fresh herbal infusions using freshly picked ingredients from the garden.

Guests may borrow inspiring books, magazines, music, and DVDs from the retreat library provided they are treated with care, and washing machines are available on a pay-per-load basis.

Though "switching off" is encouraged as much as possible during retreat time, there is also limited Wi-Fi access available in some areas of the retreat property. Please inquire upon booking if you are in need of internet access during your stay.

Suncokret hosts their classic Yoga B & B Personal Retreat Program every Spring and Autumn, as well as a festival of unique summer events with visiting teachers from.

What is the Suncokret Integrated Holistic Yoga Lifestyle Program?

The Integrated Holistic Yoga Lifestyle Program (IHYLP) will introduce you to various yoga teachings and related body-mind-spirit practices that support your retreat journey and your life on many levels.

The program was originally conceptualized by retreat co-founder and holistic program director, Evening Marie, who currently leads the six-night yoga B & B program.

During this six-night annual summer yoga festival, the IHYLP is further expanded upon by the specialized and inspirational teaching contributions of esteemed co-hosting events teachers that will lead the workshops during the summer retreats.

The program sessions are generally divided into two parts daily: morning yoga Sadhana and meditation, while, during the summer events an afternoon or an evening workshop session that is focused on a particular theme is offered.

Morning Sadhana

Sadhana is a daily spiritual practice that includes a balancing blend of techniques to help you tune into yourself, the intentions you have for your life and for the day ahead. Chanting, pranayama, meditation, asanas (postures), and deep relaxation are traditionally included in this process.

The purpose of Sadhana is to enable you to start your day in a sacred, disciplined, and focused way. These sessions generally last between 90 and 120 minutes during summer events. They will awaken you profoundly; aligning you to your body, mind, and spirit while preparing you to greet life's daily adventures with a sense of peace and clarity.

Afternoon or evening program

These enriching, theme-based sessions are offered during co-hosted summer events and may cover a range of topics related to holistic lifestyle management including yoga, meditation, food preparation, art therapy, dancing, chanting, healing work, etc. Topics are offered according to the weekly theme being presented by the co-hosting teacher and adjusted according to the level and wishes of the group participants.

The purpose of these sessions is to highlight foundational yogic wisdom, as well as other holistic spiritual teachings and techniques, that help to systematically balance the body, mind, and spirit in a profound way. These sessions generally last between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the topic being covered.

Please note that during co-hosted summer events, the morning and afternoon or evening sessions may be divided up according to what is most appropriate for the topic being explored together with the co-hosting teacher.

All gatherings take place in inspiring and sacred spaces; either on the outdoor terrace, beautiful indoor loft space, or in nature and by the sea, according to the program itinerary, the weather, and other considerations.

Themes and methods

Each week, the program interweaves a variety of themes and methods, including (but not limited to):

  • Satsang (open discussion with the teacher on a particular topic)
  • Overview and practice of the eight limbs of yoga: guidelines for yogic living (yama and niyama), science of breath control (pranayama), postures (asana), withdrawal of senses (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and integration (samadhi)
  • Introduction to various yoga styles and teachings
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Cosmic anatomy (chakras and sheaths of being)
  • Practice in Kriya, mudra, mantra, and meditation
  • Ayurveda and understanding doshas and gunas
  • Healing techniques from yoga therapy, Reiki, and other spiritual practices
  • Self-reflection through discussion, journaling, and silent reflection
  • Creative explorations for personal development, including photography, art therapy, voice-work, bodywork, dance, etc.
  • Holistic lifestyle and spiritual or personal life coaching

Sample six-night summer IHYLP schedule

Sunday evening

On Sunday, you will have a 60-minute welcome circle with program introduction.

Monday - Friday

Monday to Thursday you will enjoy one and a half to two hours daily of morning yoga Sadhana at the retreat center. On Friday morning you will enjoy a 90-minute yoga safari Sadhana session in a surprise location. Monday and Wednesday you will have an evening program at the retreat, while Tuesday and Thursday you will participate in an afternoon program by the sea.

Saturday morning

Saturday you will attend a 60-minute closing circle with program conclusion and reflection. In total, there are between 12 and 15 dedicated program hours, that will be covered during the six-night summer event weeks, though timing and location may slightly vary according to the event theme being conducted within any given week.

Summer events program:

The art of mindfulness - cultivate deep inner awareness with yoga, art, and nature (From June 16 to 22)

Suncokret Dream warmly invites you to leave the modern pressures and stresses behind for a week of mindfulness through yoga, art, and nature connection.

Connect with yourself each morning through a gentle yoga Sadhana led by holistic yoga therapist, Evening Marie; the practice slowly awakens you from head to toe and brings awareness to the body, mind to breath.

As the breath leads you through a series of postures, you become more and more attuned to the present moment; connecting to your senses, which dictate your thoughts and feelings, and then relaxing into total presence before flowing onwards, moment by moment, breath after breath.

The practice concludes with relaxation followed by mindful meditation practices that progressively instill a peaceful and present state of being that will carry you throughout each day.

Afternoon art and nature sessions with Edina Husanovic will focus on soaking up the wonderful, restorative, and inspiring nature of the island of Hvar in the most direct way - through a drawing of its beautiful landscapes. In the four dedicated afternoon sessions of the retreat, the artist will invite the participants to engage in a series of drawing and walking activities designed to focus and calm the mind.

The retreat is aimed at beginners and more experienced participants alike. It is not aimed at testing the level of yoga or quality of the drawing, but rather on expanding the mindfulness of the activity.

Viva Shakti! - honor your femininity through yoga and belly dance (From June 23 to 29)

Celebrate the arrival of summer by immersing yourself in women's retreat where you will experience yoga and belly dancing as tools to honor, embrace and celebrate your divine femininity, or Shakti.

Throughout the week, you will explore yoga for women and address related issues such as body awareness and confidence, feminism, and goddess culture. You will address your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual qualities as women through the practices and discussions; evoking a celebratory spirit of honoring sacred femininity in a joyful and playful way within a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.

During the morning yoga sadhana, you will employ practices to address women’s needs on a physical and psycho-spiritual level. The yoga sessions will help you tune into the major feminine power centers, or chakras, including the sacral, heart and third eye, and will thus help balance our reproductive, glandular and circulatory systems and help awaken your creativity, receptiveness, and intuition. Powerful meditation practices that balance the female psyche will also be introduced daily.

In the belly dancing sessions, the participants will be invited to learn the basics of belly dancing and develop their body confidence, characteristic of this dance form that is inclusive of all body shapes. The classes will comprise a mixture of choreography and body toning exercises, as well as the theory that accompanies the practice, which comes from the artist’s original research.

You will learn about the history of this hybrid dance form that lies on the intersections between the East and the West, its connections to feminism and the Goddess Culture, and how belly dancers respond to many myths and stereotypes that accompany this dance.

Women of all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes keen on nurturing their femininity through women's yoga and belly dance. Many who practice belly dance and yoga have reported an increased sense of body confidence and the feeling of being comfortable in their own skin. We invite you to explore this joyful feeling in the safe and beautiful environment of Suncokret and Hvar.

Mystical yoga, marvelous meditation - Atma Kriya Yoga and Sri Yantra Meditation to reach the Sacred Space within (From June 30 to July 6)

Join Achala and Govindadas for a meaningful journey to touch your inner space and connect to the Divine. Atma means “the soul”. “Kri” is action. “Ya” is awareness. Yoga is “union”. Atma Kriya Yoga is an ancient yogic practice developed by Himalayan yogis, which utilizes the science of the breath to reunite us with the very core of our being: the soul. It helps us to bring the awareness of our Higher Being into each of our daily thoughts, words, and actions.

When we act from the level of the soul, instead of ego, something significant changes in the way we perceive the world and ourselves, and each of our actions becomes guided from within. Atma Kriya Yoga is a set of ancient, yet easy to practice techniques, such as meditation, mantra, pranayamas, mudras, asanas and other kriyas, which help us to be intimately in touch with our Higher Self on a daily basis. It is a lifetime inner journey through the chakras and bringing our entire inner universe into alignment. The course is completed with initiation (or “Shaktipath”), which acts as an activating spark for the techniques - just as was given throughout the centuries by the Himalayan yogis.

To deepen your experience during this retreat, two Sri Yantra workshops with Govindadas will be offered in the evenings. One shorter workshop, open to all and included in the price of the retreat, will be an introduction to Sri Yantra painting meditation practice with affirmations.

The second workshop offered as an option (and priced separately) is spread over the next 3 evenings, involves an in-depth Sri Yantra painting meditation practice, during which also a secret Sri Yantra meditation will be taught at the end. Sri Yantra is the highest symbol of sacred geometry known to the world, which represents all the intricate connections within our inner universe. When we meditate with Sri Yantra and color it, we invoke the Divine presence from deep within ourselves, as well as balance all the opposing forces in our energy body and bring them into equilibrium. Sri Yantra painting meditation perfectly complements Atma Kriya Yoga practice.

During the retreat Vedic Astrology (Jyotisha) readings with Achala will also be made available on an individual basis (and priced separately), and several introduction talks that will help you to understand how the cosmic forces are connected to us through invisible energy links, and how they influence us in our daily life will also be given.

All the techniques and teachings presented in this course come from the lineage of Mahavatar Babaji and his direct disciple, Paramahamsa Vishwananda. It is our great honor to share with you those ancient techniques.

The daily yoga sadhana will be followed by a light and healthy breakfast. Creativity is the greatest gift we have and it can unfold in many beautiful ways. As children we are naturally creative, we don`t use our head but rather our heart to perceive and interact with life. As adults, we mostly lose that gift, as we try to assess situations first with our head and only after do we let our heart speak, if at all.

It is as if we have lost the connection to who we really are, to our feelings and to our spiritual source. Many of us feel the calling to be creative and make it a larger part of our life again but we don’t always know where to start. Let this retreat week be the source of inspiration you have been waiting for that enables you to tune into the creative source within you!

Working together with Evening Marie, you will discover a refreshing, spiritually enriching, and deeply profound retreat experience - one that blends tradition with intuition to render a transcendental journey that is appropriate for both new and seasoned path walkers alike. Marie is a highly qualified holistic yoga therapist with over 500 hours training and 13 years teaching practice running back to back weekly retreat events who is able to adapt to and challenge varying levels of experience.
Daniela Dippong
Daniela views working with students as the opportunity to learn and grow in the practice together. She sees herself inside each student and feels that her students bring her closer to her core and the patterns inside which are universally shared among all people. Her theme-inspired classes are influenced by a long-term Jivamukti-based Vinyasa yoga practice, but elements from the integrated approach to yoga therapy, Hatha, and Iyengar yoga also lend support to her teaching. Mantras, spirituality, and yoga philosophy are also integrated into her classes.
Anita Ilicic
Nature, traveling, exploring, and discovering inner and outer space have always been important elements of Anita's life. After many years of practicing yoga and meditation, which have certainly touched her deeply,she found that she was still searching for something and felt there was so much more to discover. Her Zhineng Qigong journey started in spring 2010, when it helped her to quickly recover from a lower back problem. Qigong is a wonderful tool, which can help you to learn how to calm down, to relax on a deep level, be present in the moment, and accept and release attachments.
Edina Husanovic
Belly Dancing, Mindfulness and Art: co-host of Viva Shakti and Art of Mindfulness Events in June. Edina Husanovic is an artist, researcher and educator, with twenty years experience in teaching. She has also had twenty years practice in Buddhist Vipassana meditation as well as more than 5 years of yoga practice. Since graduating from her Fine Art degree in 2000 with First Class Hons, she has traversed complex and varied educational and professional environments that have given her broad experience and skills.
Achala Das
Atma Kriya Yoga & Sri Yantra Painting Meditation. Achala (Sylwia Mihajlović) is a Jyotish practitioner and certified Atma Kriya Yoga teacher from Poland, initiated by Paramahamsa Vishwananda. Practicing Vedic astrology since 2010 under many different teachers, and constantly deepening her practice with the insights gained in daily meditation. Teaching meditation since 2009, practicing since 2006. Author of “Discovering Youniverse” and “Journey with the Moon”.

Atma Kriya Yoga & Sri Yantra Painting Meditation. Govindadas (Igor Mihajlović) is a Vastu teacher from Croatia, practicing Vastu Shastra since 2012, and continuing his studies under Dr. Anand Bhardhwaj, as well as Olga Mandodari Sokolova (a direct disciple of Dr. Ganapati Sthapati). Govindadas is also a certified Sri Yantra painting meditation teacher in the tradition of Paramahamsa Vishwananda.

Olivia's mission is to guide women to transform their fitness and wellbeing lifestyle and learn to love the skin they are in. Throughout her whole life, she has always struggled with being overweight and was never the sporty girl or someone who considered herself health conscious. Suncokret welcomes you to retreat in the charming village of Dol Sveta Ana, a pristine 12th-century hamlet discretely nestled into the verdant brush which majestically rises above the island's oldest settlement, Stari Grad in Hvar Island Croatia. Stari Grad is located 2 kilometers from the retreat and we offer free transport from Stari Grad to Suncokret.

Dol Sveta Ana is often compared to Provence and Tuscany, with its sprawling vineyards, noble olive groves, fragrant lavender plantations, fertile fields, and charming stone cottages, so eloquently framed by the distant blue sea and open sky. The village is brought to life by the colorful sounds of friendly sun-kissed locals and their range of hearty farm animals going about their day-to-day lives. Located only minutes away from the island's major attractions, yet peacefully tucked away from bustling tourist towns, St. Ana provides an ideal escape from ordinary life to an extraordinary organic haven.

The complex of semi-attached stone villas is nestled into a secluded corner of Dol, Sveta Ana. The retreat neighborhood remains un-populated much of the year, providing deep peace and tranquility for the guests. During summer months, however, the village tends to fill up with holidaymakers, including natives taking up residence in their ancestral summer cottages that have been in the family for generations. The atmosphere becomes a more vibrant one - a true immersion into authentic village lifestyle on Hvar.

Village offerings versus town conveniences

The village features two local restaurants and a local cafe with Wi-Fi access within walking distance from the retreat. There are no shops, banks or ATM's, post offices, etc., so please plan ahead, though there is plenty of pure nature with inviting footpaths to explore and unlimited supplies of fresh air to help you relax and disconnect from the stresses of city life. Getting around

For your convenience, as part of the foundational retreat program package, Suncokret Dream provides complimentary scheduled transport to and from various points of interest each day of the retreat week. Guests may opt to remain at the retreat for quiet time during the day instead and arrange their own transport needs.

The nearest town, Stari Grad, is located two kilometers from the retreat. The journey to Stari Grad takes about 40 minutes on foot, 10 to 15 minutes by bike, and only five minutes by scooter or car (rental options are available in Stari Grad).

Food

From Monday to Thursday, Suncokret Dream serves a beautiful brunch in the garden post-yoga practice, on Friday morning, a picnic brunch is served on location after the yoga-safari Sadhana.

Brunch usually consists of fresh seasonal fruit, nuts, warm and cold cereals, fresh farm eggs, local bread or pastries, veggie and cheese spreads, yoghurt and milk, organic rice or almond milk, and, quite possibly, tasty left-overs from the previous night's dinner (they don't believe in letting precious quality food go to waste).

Dinner, served Monday to Thursday, usually consists of a soup and salad starter, followed by a main dish. After the Saturday morning closing circle a self-service breakfast buffet is served in the garden, prior to the 10:45 a.m. check-out time, to ensure that you depart from the retreat well-nourished for your journey ahead.

Local tap water, mineral water, herbal tea and home-made organic cordials, when available, are provided with each meal. As a safe shelter from addictive substances, the policy is to not serve coffee, but you may bring your own emergency supply along, if necessary, or perhaps savor in an occasional cup of the local brew in the town cafes when the need or mood strikes.

Things to do (optional)

The daily itinerary provides ample time to relax and explore each day. You are warmly invited to take advantage of the complimentary transfer service that takes you to and from a range of nearby towns and beaches where you can spend your day doing exactly what serves you best.

On Tuesday and Thursday, the yoga program is held at the magnificent beach locations you are brought to by free transfer in the morning, while on Monday and Wednesday the yoga program is held back at the retreat, making the latter ideal days in which to stay behind at the retreat for optional holistic treatments or workshops in case you are in need of pampering or holistic support.

For guests who are staying for two back to back event weeks, weekends are an ideal time to try a little island adventure. Suncokret Dream can help you to organize activities offered by local providers, including art therapy and painting classes, scuba diving, kayaking, wind surfing, free climbing, hiking, cycling, boat excursions, boat, scooter, or car rental.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Zagreb Airport (ZAG). From there you can book a connecting domestic flight to Split Airport (SPU). From Split, you will have to take the ferry to get to Stari Grad. You will be picked up by Suncokret Dream from the Stari Grad port at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

From Zagreb Airport (ZAG), you can also book a bus transfer with Flixbus to Split which takes approximately 2 hours and then a ferry from Split to Stari Grad. When you arrive at the Stari Grad port, you will be picked up by Suncokret Dream at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

Arrival by bus

Outside the Split airport, a bus operated by Croatia Airlines departs from just outside the terminal door. You buy the ticket from the driver, 4 EUR. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the city center. There is also a local bus that goes to the bus station in Split to and from Trogir every 20 minutes from a stop on the road in front of the Airport Terminal. The price of the ticket is approximately the same.

After you have reached Split Port, you will need to get a ferry transfer from Split Port to Stari Grad Port. You will be picked up by Suncokret Dream from the Stari Grad port at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

Arrival by ferry

After your bus transfer to Split Port, you will need to get a ferry transfer from Split Port to Stari Grad Port. The airport bus stop is just next to the old town. From there you can see the ferry, a short walk away. Next to the ferry / bus / train / taxi station are ticket booths for Jadrolinija, the ferry company, where you can buy your ferry tickets. Alternatively, you can buy your ticket at the booth in the ferry terminal itself or online. You will be picked up by Suncokret Dream from the Stari Grad port at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

Arrival by taxi

From the Split airport a taxi to Split old town costs about 33 to 40 EUR. You can book a taxi online. Once you have reached Split Port, you will need to get a ferry transfer from Split Port to Stari Grad Port. You will be picked up by Suncokret Dream from the Stari Grad port at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 17% of the total price.
