Blue cave tour with picnic on the beach

Boat tour to the tiny islet of Bievo, placed just next to island of Vis, which is filled with vineyards, pine trees, beaches and the spectacular Blue Cave (Modra pilja). Between 11am and noon the suns rays pass through an underwater opening in this coastal cave to bathe the interior in an unearthly blue light. Beneath the crystal-blue water, rocks glimmer in silver and pink to a depth of 16m.

Tour of Vis town - cosy ancient harbor

Vis is the biggest and oldest settlement on the island. It was established in this spot by the Greeks in 4th century BC due to its well protected natural bay and environment suitable for food growing. During ages it was famous for its strategical point (centre point of entire the Adriatic Sea) so it was ruled (or conquered) by many cultures Romans, Venetians, Austrians and Brits. Each of these cultures left something behind making Vis quite architecturally special its the home of Greek Polis ruins, Roman theatre and spa ruins, Venetian palaces, British forts and Austrian stronghold and lighthouses. Simply a must see little town.

Tour of Komiza - picturesque fisherman town

Komiza is a small town with rich history strongly attached to the sea. It is one of the most picturesque towns in Croatia, surrounded by green hills, vineyards and crystal clear sea filled with small fishing boats. All stone houses are tightly compacted around narrow streets right on the sea coast creating excellent shelter from sun and strong winds. Ultimate bohemian spirit and laid back atmosphere can be noticed on every corner of this place filled with life, restaurants and bars.

Tour of Stiniva cove - natural phenomenon

Stiniva cove is a natural phenomenon of an unbelievably attractive and unusual appearance situated on the south side of the island of Vis. Looking from the sea side, Stiniva is closed in by two high rocky cliffs which, at their closest point, are just four metres apart from each other. After that cliffs expand into an unexpectedly wide and beautiful seaside cove. Probably it was produced by collapsed cave ceiling in the geologic past. The fresh appearance of the blue-green sea beside the white cliffs is nothing short of magical.

Tour of Srebrena - breath taking beach

Srebrna Beach (Silver Beach) is located near the small tourist town Rukavac on the southeast side of the island. It is one of the most attractive and beautiful beaches on this island. The beach is exposed to open sea and the waves. Its perfectly white pebbles, large flat rocks and pine grove make it ideal for picnics and naps.

When she is not on her mat, you can find Vanessa surfing some waves all year long, snowboarding in the winter, or just being content with life.

The island of Vis is one of the most further and isolated Croatian island with an area of 90.30 square kilometers and is approximately 60 miles away from the Italian coast. The island charms with its natural beauties crystal clear sea, open sea waves, stunning coves, bays, surrounding islets and hidden beaches as well as a spectacular green inland.

Vis has a rich history the first settlers were living here already 3000 years BC and the Greek colony Issa (now town of Vis) was established in the 4th century BC. Until today Vis has also experienced Roman, Venetian, French, British, Austrian and Croatian rulings and the narrow streets of its towns remind you of this history every step of the way.

Isolation of the island during Yugoslav times placed Vis among the favorite destinations of the entire Mediterranean when Croatia became independent. Beautiful beaches, preserved nature, ecological agriculture and traditional architecture make this island exceptional and unique.

Vis has always been an island of fishermen and winegrowers. It is said that the first grape vine in Dalmatia was planted by the ancient Greeks in Vis and the Greek writer Agatarhid said that the wine from Vis was, compared to all others, better. There are in average 2600 sunny hours through the year.

"This was a beautiful location with such an amazing yoga instructor - Leah. I can honestly say I enjoyed every meal! Milda was a excellent cook, and she and Mario were always happy to help with anything we needed. The only thing that let it down was the weather but obviously that is out of anyone's control."

"I had a wonderful yoga holiday on the island of Vis. The accommodation was in a well laid-out stone villa complex that was lovingly restored. The atmosphere was tranquil and ideal for a relaxing yoga retreat. Mario organised interesting trips to local beaches and villages, and I even got to see the famous Blue Cave on a nearby island. Our yoga teacher, Leah, was extremely patient and her clear instructions allowed me to achieve poses I could previously not achieve. Milda worked hard to create her delicious vegetarian meals and I appreciated the organizers' efforts in ensuring I had a good time!"

"A great week of yoga and relaxation at a lovely location on the calm Croatian island of Vis. Yoga instruction was given by a professional and fun yoga teacher from the US who taught a great mix of yoga to fill the whole week and appeal to the different levels. The villa has lovely rooms with shared bathrooms, a hammock and a small pool. The vegetarian food prepared by the hosts is delicious although not always sufficient for big eaters. Afternoon tours to the major towns and beaches were organized every day.Definitely recommended, especially with the personal touch, care and great organisation by Milda and Mario from Croatia Retreat."

"My week of restoration and renewal at Croatia Yoga Retreat in May 2014 was incredible. My room had original thick stone walls, a comfortable queen bed, large windows that opened onto the courtyard gardens, and a heater with remote control so I was always toasty at night! The bathroom was right next doormy only complaint was that the hot water didn't stay hot very long but I definitely got clean. The meditation instructor was a student of the Vipassana tradition and offered gentle, inspiring guidance that was especially helpful for beginners and those with an inconsistent home practice (like me). The yoga instructor at our retreat had a few years of experience teaching Vinyasa Flow Yoga and had recently become trained in Acro Yoga and Thai massage, all of which she invited us to experience during the retreat week.We were treated to three freshly prepared vegetarian meals a day in a cozy room looking out onto the green vineyards of the villa. The meals were prepared by our hosts and were simple, colorful and delicious. As promised, they were made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, such as chard and zucchini from the local markets, and there was plenty of varietyoutside of the ample breakfast spread, we never had the same meal twice. When we weren't eating wonderful meals or hovering in plank on our yoga mats, we had the option of relaxing in our rooms or outside in one of the many comfy seating areas at the villa (or in the hammock!), hiking about the grounds enjoying wildflowers and panoramic views of the surrounding green hills and valleys dotted with red-roofed cottages, or accompanying the group on a daily excursion to one of the island's charming port towns, magnificent hilltop overlooks, or secluded local beaches. One of the best parts of the retreat was our awareness that all of the meals, classes and activities were always optional, not mandatory. All in all, I give Croatia Yoga Retreat two thumbs up!"

"What an amazing experience! A beautiful retreat organized with heart and soul. It exceeded my highest expectations. Our yoga teacher Aimee blew me away. Aimee is a very loving person who speaks with open heart. Her technique is beautiful and her moving quotes that she reads at the end of the yoga session have melted our hearts. There was so much emotion, love and care we often criedMeditation with Jurate was very inspirational, extremely hard, but it was an experience that I will never forget. Thank you!"

"I had a really lovely week at the retreat. Milda, Mario and the rest of the staff were so accommodating. Everything such as trips, the boat, extra activities was all inclusive so it was so nice to not worry about anything. The island of Vis is so interesting and the host Mario has an amazing knowledge of it. The week is very busy with classes and trips, but equally the holiday is allowed to be yours and you do as you like with no pressure. All the veggie food was lovely and creative."
