Ayurveda is the ancient system of healing, originating in India, thousands of years ago. In Sanskrit, "Ayur" means "life" and "veda" means "knowledge", so Ayurveda is the "science of life", which is based on the profound insights and understanding of the laws of nature, cognized by the sages or rishis of ancient times. Ayurveda has spread throughout the world and is recognized and practiced worldwide as a unique, holistic, and most practical system of health.
Ayurveda originated from basic principles that the universe is made up of five elements: air, fire, water, earth, and ether. These elements are represented in humans by three "doshas", or energies: vata, pitta, and kapha. Each individual has a distinct balance of the doshas, and if any of them accumulate in the body above a certain limit, the body loses its balance. The Ayurveda approach to health focuses on getting the right balance of the three doshas or "tridoshas". In finding the right balance and to reduce excess dosha, Ayurveda recommends rejuvenation therapies, a healthy lifestyle, diet, and herbal nutrition.
The practice of yoga is an important part of achieving perfect balance, by using a simple sequence of postures that enlivens each major muscle group of the body. Yoga and Ayurveda work together: the yoga refines the mind and the body, so that Ayurvedic medicines and treatments can reach their full potential.
Meditation allows the time to ease the stress of daily life whilst developing wisdom, intuition, and self awareness. At our Ayurvedic health retreat and spa, meditation is a key component of rejuvenation to incorporate all levels of relaxation, balance, and cleansing. Based on time tested and scientifically validated processes, we use a combination of Ayurvedic treatments, yoga, and meditation to create a profound experience, allowing you to develop a greater sense of inner peace and good health.
Located next to the small Balinese Hindu village of Bebengan, Sukhavati Ayurveda Retreat and Spa lies on multi-tiered land, bordered by tropical jungle and a running river. The property's landscaped lawn reception area provides the perfect setting for intimate wedding and birthday events. To the north of Sukhavati can be seen Mount Batukaru, one of the island's most revered and holy landforms.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa program begins with an individual detailed consultation with one of our Ayurvedic physicians who will create personally designed treatments to rejuvenate the whole system, detoxify the body, and relax the mind. Recommendations are unique to each individual and are validated by observation and deep knowledge, derived from the ancient Vedic texts to ensure a long and healthy life
A typical Ayurvedic consultation will explore your physical, mental, and emotional health to help determine the Ayurvedic treatments that will be scheduled for you. The physicians prepare a sequence of rejuvenating therapies, which include diet and exercise, according to your individual body type that will help bring balance, energy, and peace to your entire being.
Panchakarma is Ayurveda's primary purification and detoxification rejuvenation therapies. Panchakarma helps remove deep rooted stress, which is the primary cause of all sickness and ill health. It cleanses the body of the toxic residue and wastes that accumulate over time. Our Ayurvedic health retreat and spa delivers panchakarma therapies, which are specialized cleansing and rejuvenating program for the body, mind, and consciousness.
