42 Acres, originally built as a dairy farm in the 1800s, has since been renovated using natural, sustainable methods. The team behind 42 Acres pride themselves on working with the land and its natural resources. You can expect to find reclaimed materials throughout the main house and use renewable self-generated power.

Accommodation options range from luxe dorms to a super king ensuites, to suit a variety of budgets. Wherever you lay your head, you will be guaranteed a luxurious cozy bedroom complete with fluffy towels, hair dryers, and organic toiletries. There are also plenty of communal spaces, such as a library and snug and reading space to relax during downtime.

Yoga will be taught by Kirsty Norton, an incredibly inspiring and nurturing Vinyasa flow, Yin, and Restorative yoga teacher with an infectious enthusiasm for all things yoga and well-being. On this retreat, you will go deep! You will start the day with dynamic Vinyasa flow classes, before winding down for some Hatha and Yin yoga come the evening.

There will also be plenty of opportunities for some meditation. Throughout the course of the weekend’s yoga and meditation, Kirsty will take you on a journey of the chakras, working with the subtle energies of the body to bring you into a state of balance and back home to yourself.

  • 08:00 Dynamic morning yoga

  • 13:30 Posture clinic; delve into the detail of popular yoga poses, with Kirsty's in-depth alignment cues and anatomical knowledge
  • 14:30 Light lunch, followed by free time
  • 17:30 Evening Yin and Restorative yoga

  • 20:30 Gather outside around a 2.5-meter bonfire

Arrival by train

You can take a train to Castle Cary, which is 24 minutes away, or Gillingham, Dorset, which is 17 minutes away. If you would like to share the cost of taxis with other guests, you can take the Friday train from London Waterloo to Gillingham, which departs at 16:20, or London Paddington to Castle Cary, which departs at 15:27. On Sunday, you can take the Gillingham to London Waterloo train, which departs at 15:51, or the Castle Cary to London Paddington train, which departs at 15:53.

  • Kirsty Norton

    Kirsty Norton is an incredibly inspiring and nurturing Vinyasa Flow, Yin, and Restorative yoga teacher with an infectious enthusiasm for all things yoga and wellbeing. She has been teaching since 2004 and practicing since 1994. Kirsty is also a Reiki master and a holistic therapist, which encompasses massage, reflexology, and aromatherapy. She teaches people the potency of breath, movement, meditation, and relaxation, as well as how effective these tools are to realizing the infinite possibilities available to each person.

Food will be prepared by the in-house local chef, Mark Mabon. A self-taught, 20-year explorer of world good and health systems, Mark draws on a deep and practical knowledge of healing with whole, nourishing foods. All food will be hand-made from fresh ingredients and lovingly prepared in the relaxed, sunny atmosphere of the farm kitchen. Expect organic, local, and seasonal ingredients in this 100% sugar-free kitchen.

During retreats, delicious vegetarian food is served. Dinner consists of a three-course affair and there are snacks available if you are hungry between meals. Most meals are kept wheat and dairy free, but any special dietary requirements can be catered to. There is also countless cups of herbal tea for you.
