At Samasati, you will stay in a private accommodation with private bathroom or in a shared accommodation.

With like-minded individuals, you will explore yourselves through the structured study of teaching yoga and regular self-care. After 28 days, you will have completed the requirements to register with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour RYT. More than that, you will have completed a soul journey that will forever change your perspective.

Yoga teacher training with Stephanie McKenzie wants to honor you as you step on this life-changing path. In addition to the depth of knowledge, you will explore through this training, you will also increase self-knowledge through weekly massages or spa treatments.

You will be able to absorb the teachings from this training in the same peaceful environment you received them in with two days off for personal time each week. Dedicated days of self-care and spontaneous dance parties will bring balance to this incredible experience of intense study.

Stephanie will guide you through these 28 days with unconditional love and compassion. She will offer nurturing and guidance as she shares with you what she has learned as a yogini and teacher.

Techniques, training, and practice

Working with each posture from your basic posture list, you will learn how to practice them and how to safely teach them to a wide range of students. You will explore various traditions of yoga and the art and science of teaching. You will also work to refine your personal practice and delve deeper into the understanding of the self through the body.

Teaching methodology

You will seek your unique voice and perspective on the practice of yoga. You will explore methods of communication, demonstration, assisting, and supporting students in their practice. You will use music and literature to enhance your classes and give intention to your teaching.

Anatomy and physiology

Understanding to body from the inside out gives you an intimate view of your students and their struggles. You will verbally dissect the human body in relation to western and eastern anatomy. You will explore the body systems and organs as well as chakras, nadis, koshas. and vayus.

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics

You will be immersed in yogic living from the moment you meet to begin this journey. As the training progresses, you will discuss philosophy and ethics from the yoga teacher’s perspective focusing on Patanjali's "Eight Limb Path of Yoga".

Practicum

The best way to become a yoga teacher is to teach yoga. You will begin practice teaching on October 13. With a lot of support and love, each of you will teach from where you are and open yourself to the feedback from your peers who are on this journey with you. Discussions on the business aspects of yoga will come near the end of your immersion.

  • Stephanie McKenzie

    Stephanie has studied different traditions of yoga that emerged from the teachings of Krishnamacharya including Ashtanga and Viniyoga. She has also immersed herself in the study of Anusara, Yin Yang, Therapeutics, Vinyasa, and Murat Boran. Stephanie’s experience allows her to adapt her teaching to the needs of all who unroll their mats at Samasati. She seamlessly provides modifications and assists and gently advances each student according to their practice level.

This teacher training will take place at Samasati which is located in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica.

Throughout this program, you will be served vegetarian buffet three times daily. Also, you will enjoy a welcome dinner social and graduation celebration dinner party.
