Yoga retreats don't have to involve long unenvironmentally friendly plane journeys, fraught with delays, and costing the earth. St Medard's is a beautiful new stone and wood studio a few miles north of the Georgian stone town of Stamford - slap bang in the middle of our United Kingdom.

Accommodation will be in Piper House, which is just a few steps away from St Medards. Piper House has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms (two rooms share a bathroom) and can sleep 16 people, has a 50-foot reception room, a media room and a large eat-in kitchen with a table that seats 18 people.

The studio is a warm and nurturing space with views over a lake and wildflower meadow. It is light-filled with doors that open directly onto a deck area large enough to act as an outdoor shala that extends out into the meadow. The outside deck shala is a rare and wonderful place to practice.

Piper House is a converted Granary (parts 900 years old) that provides space and light in a contemporary and quirky home close to Stamford. Piper has been converted with great care and attention to detail - the house is light-filled and warm, always welcoming. Piper House was featured in Grazia magazine as one of the 19 dreamiest Airbnbs available in the UK (they were, in fact, the first!), and also by Metro Magazine - as best houses available to rent with a tennis court.

There are three separate seating areas that allow different age groups to have their own space - the cozy snug has a fantastic TV - always popular with those wanting to chill out with a film. With direct access onto the bridleway - guests can walk out from the front door. Red Kites often nest in the meadow - which itself is a wonderful amenity for those who enjoy the countryside.

  • Increase your emotional resilience.

Please note that you do not have to be young, flexible, slim or vegetarian to gain the stress-relieving benefits - yoga and meditation are for everyone and this retreat is open to all - men and women, young and old, complete beginners or more seasoned practitioners.

Retreat location

Piper House is located in beautiful and quintessentially English countryside. Imagine gently rolling hills, a bridleway on which deer are frequently sighted, the meadow with its ever changing array of colour, and red kites nesting within sight of the house. There is an all weather tennis court for those wishing to play. The house is part of a very rural hamlet and is extremely quiet and peaceful - it is an oasis of calm. Especially when the sun is shining! There's a wildflower meadow with wild orchids and a small lake at the house.
