The program at Sri Yoga Shala is inspired by my interest in stillness, space, awareness, movement, magic, creation, collaboration and community. Before moving to Sri Lanka, my country of origin, I studied contemporary dance, yoga, political science, and sociology in Germany, the country where I grew up. In 2015, Sri Yoga Shala was born: a center for yoga, meditation, movement, and bodywork. I aim to create a diverse program which incorporates everything I have studied so far, with a strong focus on physical, sociological, and entrepreneurial alignment.
My journey has been evolving since my early childhood. I have been dancing, teaching, and performing oriental dances for 15 years. As I have developed my body awareness from different dances, contact improvisation, integral Thai chi and other flow movement therapies, I slowly shifted to my yoga journey. First, I connected through asanas, then I expanded my approach through ancient texts and philosophies during my university studies. I have realized that the only person I can anchor in is myself. Yoga and meditation are a never-ending self-discovery and an everyday transformation

She's had opportunities to coach Cirque de Soleil shows, teach 70 year old's how to tap dance, create children's theatre, and help many people overcome pain, trauma and fears with her teachings. Gypsy is collecting experiences along with life’s lessons. Sexuality, music and poetry are her passions. She is a free spirit and a lover with life!
I found yoga or yoga found me as a young adult struggling with the pressure of competitive sport. I was training in gymnastics, martial arts and ballet so the blend of all three in a practice that made me feel so good and asked nothing in return became my solace. Travelling to India and discovering the tradition, mystery, ritual, magic, power, humility and divinity of the Yogi spoke to my soul: connecting through movement to inner stillness, releasing layers of tension to see clearly what is beneath. I hope you will leave my classes feeling refreshed and empowered in body, mind and spirit.

Incredible place to practice, a slice of heaven. I was lucky enough to be there when the amazing Heidi Goldman was teaching and wow what an introduction to Iyengar .
Vinyasa with the beautiful Yamuna Devi was breathtaking. Yin with Jessimun was fabulous and Core flow with Monica was fun . Each class followed by cinnamon tea then a swim in the infinity pool. A truly magical place that I look forward to visiting next year.
