Students who are interested in participating should understand that this will be a physically and emotionally demanding program. It will require a strong commitment and personal sacrifice. Also, you are required to have passion to learn and personally explore the deeper dimensions of yoga.
The 200-hour yoga teacher training Immersion follow the guidelines set out by the Yoga Alliance, ensuring the highest educational standards of quality, integrity, and professionalism. Participants will develop a personal yoga practice appropriate for each individual while learning to foster a connection with their own inner wisdom and voice. Finding this deeper connection to "self" will allow the teacher to communicate the practice to others in a dynamic and sensitive way.
The Spiritual Yoga School concentrates on exceptional training. They do not operate as a yoga studio running daily classes, but focus on training great teachers. The philosophy of their training is to make the practice of yoga accessible, fun and safe for everyone, while both honoring the traditions of yoga and playing a part in its evolution.
In their methodology, a yoga practice is not imposed on the individual instead the practice is adapted to the individual and is considerate of many factors including age, body type, fitness level, and energy on any given day. Teachers in training develop their innate, sometimes dormant, skills of clear communication and leadership along with a personal practice suited to their individual needs and goals.
Spiritual Yoga School have a faculty of teachers who come into the training to share their expert knowledge and distilled teachings with the SYS trainees. Some topics include history of yoga, overview of ancient or relevant yogic texts, Restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, subtle body and chakra presentations, conscious breathing, and emotional release to name a few. In this way, the students’ faculties of discrimination and inner wisdom are stimulated. A clear understanding of the differences in each approach allows teachers in training to have a solid understanding of Hatha Yoga and gives them creative license over their own teaching style.
Many students have asked if it is important to have an advanced physical practice in order to teach yoga. The ability to perform difficult postures is not necessarily a hallmark of advanced practice. Advanced practice is the ability to go deeply into even the most simple postures and exercises.
To join the training program, participants must be free of major injuries going into the program. Students with minor but recurring injuries must inform the teacher of their conditions.
Koh Samui is a small island located in the Gulf of Thailand in the southeast Thailand in Surat Thani Province. Koh Samui has two sister islands: Koh Phangan and the smaller Ko Tao. Main town is Chaweng, where you can find anything you need for your stay.
Koh Samui is famous for sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coconut trees are present on the island. The climate is warm and humid for most of the year. However, in comparison to most of the rest of southern Thailand, Koh Samui’s weather is relatively drier.
The heaviest precipitation is typically seen in the months of October and November. For the rest of the year, given the tropical climate, rain showers are brief; 20-60 minutes duration is typical. The name Koh Samui derives from the word “samui”, meaning “sand bar” in the southern dialect, for these are many sand bars offshore.
The package includes daily vegetarian or vegan brunch and dinner and drink.
