Expert tip: This is one of the most popular yoga retreats offered in Hungary.
This is a rare opportunity to discover the magical Pilis mountains of Hungary, believed to be the Heart Chakra of the Earth. Through the gorgeous and comfortable resort nestled in the woods, we will gain access to foliage hikes, walking meditation in a riverbed and lots of time to explore and unwind. We will also visit an ancient castle with an amazing view of the Danube river and surrounding hills, and relax at the in-house sauna or through guided Thai massage sessions.
In this pristine location, we will have daily yoga sessions and workshops to tap into our utmost potential and invite deep relaxation back into our lives. This is an intimately-sized retreat, expect a familiar feel and a deep journey with professional and experienced instructors. You will feel replenished by the water, the forest, the sauna, the practice and leave more at peace with yourself and the world.
During the retreat, you will stay at the beautiful Malomház of Dömös, which was converted into a retreat from an old watermill. You can stay in a private or shared room equipped with its own bathroom or choose the top floor room with the charm of a princess' tower and rooms with shared bathroom. The house has plenty of communal spaces, a large garden, an indoor and an outdoor fireplace, a built-in sauna, and a gorgeous yoga room where we will practice most of the time.
When you explore yourself within a partnership, you may find deep insights about yourself. Through various body-based practices, we will seek our own center, and when tapping into it, see how that can meet someone else’s.
During this retreat, you will start with connecting to yourself through yoga and meditation, then be led through themed workshops and guided Thai yoga massage sessions.
“You learn to surrender and develop a willingness to feel, rather than promote a willfulness to change what is felt. You only go deeper if the body naturally releases and your emotional tone is willing.” Sarah Powers
While we will go deep into the self through meditation, asana, and journaling, there will be plenty of room for playfulness, unwinding and staying still.
Expect nature hikes, a walking meditation while taking in the wonderful foliage, unwinding in the sauna and getting to know a bit about the area’s history during a cultural excursion to Visegrád Castle. Through the daily yoga workshops you will be able to explore yourself as an individual as well as see the reflection of yourself in others.
Please arrive at the venue by 10:00 a.m. on October 19, 2019.
This a general outline of the retreat’s schedule, subject to change depending on activities and weather.
The retreat venue lies right at the foot of various hiking paths. Weather permitting, you will have the chance to enjoy nature walks in the beautiful hills around Dömös or a walk along the Danube river. The program also includes a half-day hike to Dobogókő, a wonderful nature spot in the hills, also considered the Heath Chakra of the Earth.
Eszter likes to invite students to discover ways to work with trust, non-verbal communication and finding strength while remaining playful. She is a certified vinyasa yoga and AcroYoga Montreal instructor and practitioner of Thai yoga massage, a therapy working the physical and emotional layers of the body. She loves good stories, co-creating through playful exploration, and safe practice.
Nathalie Bittar is the Director and Founder of Blue Nile Lotus yoga studio in Khartoum, Sudan. Nathalie is fascinated by the human journey; with all the ups and downs of life. She is curious about how we create our realities and how with tools like yoga and meditation, we can release our stories and re-experience life through the eyes of a child. She is a certified yoga and meditation teacher with 600 hours of yoga and meditation training under her belt and over a decade of teaching experience.
The retreat takes place at a wonderfully renovated, century-old watermill converted into a retreat that feels like a charming castle. The Malomház (or mill house) is at a 45-kilometer distance from the capital city of Budapest. It is reachable by car, bus, or boat. Dömös lies on the Danube River and the house is at the crossroads of various hiking paths, ideal for active leisure and relaxation.
