The Dependence, which is part of the exclusive Villa Boccella estate is our Tuscan home for the week, and offers us a luxurious retreat where authentic Tuscan charm is coupled with opulence and exclusivity. The Dependence was historically the principle support building for Villa Boccella and all it’s agricultural activities. Set in the heart of a vast estate of rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves, recently renovated. The Dependence has everything we need including own own pool and yoga studio! It was Petrarch in the 14th century who advocated the country house as a place of rest and repose, starting the fashion for beautiful houses set in the hills, away from the heat of the city. Near the ancient fortified city of Lucca, it was built in 1729, and the whole estate is a fine example of a summer retreat for the nobility. With it's vineyards and olive groves, it still produces it own wine and oil and over the past few years, the whole estate and it buildings have been sympathetically renovated to provide accommodation that is comfortable and luxurious, combined with classic elegant Tuscan style.

The retreats are held at Villa Boccella, a beautiful 17th Century Tuscan holiday estate. The estate is very well situated 10 Kilometers from Lucca, one hour from the international airport of Pisa. Just an hour from Florence, and near to the many beaches on the Versiglia coast.

The estate is only 10 minutes by car to the beautiful city of Lucca or a little longer by bicycle along the river path. In Lucca it is fun to explore the small streets, full of interesting shops, and restaurants. Wander around the various food, plant and antique shows held on top of the ancient walls that surround Lucca.

  • All linen and towels supplied
  • All meals during the stay within the villa and one dinner inclusive at a local restaurant with local wine
  • Use of the swimming pool and all facilities within the grounds of the estate
  • Transfers to and from the villa on the first and last day of the retreat (from the Lucca bus or train station only)

D.H. Lawrence says "For us to go to Italy and to penetrate into Italy is like a most fascinating act of self-discovery, back, back down the old ways of time. Strange and wonderful chords awake in us, and vibrate again after many hundreds of years of complete forgetfulness." Sometimes, it takes a special place in your life and the right setting to unravel and just let go. Soulfit Adventures offers an exquisite opportunity to do just that in Tuscany. Imagine weaving your way through the intimate and untouched cycling trails in and around Lucca, whilst immersing yourself in the essence of history and nature. Each day is different, taking you into the local off the beaten tracks to discover what waits. Your body being guided through yoga to prepare you for the bike, or a restorative yoga sequence late in the day. Fresh, authentic local foods prepared lovingly to nourish and delight you. The bike is freedom. It allows you to travel the roads less traveled, taking in the sights and smells—the crunching of the gravel below your tires or the soothing hum as you glide over fresh pavement – you just don’t experience the world the same way by foot, car, or plane.

Our Tuscan active holiday retreat combined with adventure offers you the chance to reconnect with your self and let go. Nestled in boutique luxury accommodation on a private estate, setting the backdrop for morning and evening yoga as we cycle the days into bliss. You will relish in cuisine of fresh local produce and wine, absorbing the sights – a pure delight for the senses - Tuscan style! Soulfit Adventures believes flow is the secret to fun. It occurs when we are so engaged in something that we lose all track of time. We don’t notice anything at all because we are so immersed in a task that is at once optimally challenging and absorbing. Some of our most immersive, flow experiences occur on the bike and our yoga mats. Worried that the cycling and/or yoga might be too difficult? Don’t be. The cycling is moderate but designed to challenge you (it’s all part of the fun!), and the yoga is suitable for all levels. If you are more experienced on the bike, we can definitely challenge you! Non riding and non yoga partners are welcome to share the adventure with you. We take a very holistic approach to our active retreats and design itineraries that create a balance where you will encounter opportunities that will engage your body, mind, and spirit. Whatever you seek on your Tuscan journey, you will experience La Dolce Vita, the sweet life and go home with a sense of vitality and a restored approach to life. We know you deserve a remarkable life in magical places… Adventure awaits!

  • Review by Paula Rayfield, Australia from Australia

"Virginia has created such an amazing experience with her Bali rest and restore yoga retreat. I can’t thank you enough Virginia. I was struck with the tranquility and beauty of the venue the moment I arrived. Greeted by the warm, ever smiling Balinese staff, the scene was very much set for a pretty special time. Set among lush gardens with authentic Balinese bungalows nestled among palm and coconut trees with the ocean lapping almost at your door – it’s just gorgeous. The yoga space is incredible, the food healthy and tasty, the staff divine. The yoga is both challenging and meditative but achievable for all levels. Virginia looks after you. Did I mention the sunrise and sunsets and the view from the yoga shala! For me, a beautiful week of good company, laughter, contentment and reflection. If you are considering it, don’t hesitate, it is truly a week you will cherish."

  • Review by Julianne Hauser from USA

"The yoga retreat that I attended, organized by Soulfit Adventures, was an extraordinary experience. Having stayed at the glorious Jeda Villa in Petumeran, Bali, I felt a sense of euphoria as well tranquility. The yoga sessions instructed by Virginia Slevin were challenging yet comforting; I looked forward every day to my yoga practice. In addition to the yoga, the retreat included a day of trekking through one of Balis national parks as well as an amazing snorkeling excursion where I was able to see sea life that I have only previously seen at an aquarium. Additionally, the meals provided were prepared by a wonderful chef and were healthy and delicious. I left the retreat feeling peaceful and at a better place in mind, body and spirit. I am very much looking forward to another retreat organized by Soulfit Adventures. The experience was surreal, and one that I will always remember."

"Oh Soulfit Adventures how can I thank thee??? What an amazing 8 days I have just spent in Bali on a yoga retreat! Virginia is awesome and just had everything covered from our collection and transfers from the airport, to our gorgeous rooms and time at our magical venue, to the fun outings organized. It was a beautiful time being away from the usual distractions of home life, in Bali we were able to immerse ourselves in yoga, build friendships and find tranquil space for our minds beside the ocean, not to mention the incredible fun we had snorkeling, hiking and shopping and sharing together."

"The yoga was challenging, but very rewarding and the Yin yoga each evening a real treasure. The venue was perfect with the most gorgeous vibe of love and relaxation, the food oh so delicious and plentiful. We had the choice to do as little or as much as we liked. As well as the yoga we were offered day trips out snorkeling, we went on an amazing hike through the traditional rice paddies which was just glorious; we had a shopping expedition to Ubud not to mention the included massages and reflexology treatments. All in all an amazing experience."

"Not only were the yoga and organized activities amazing, but the like-minded people sharing it with me were exceptional and great friendships formed. For me a truly magical holiday! If you are looking to get away, advance your yoga, just begin yoga, relax, meet amazing people, have delicious food in an environment that is simply stunning, with nothing at all you have to think about or organize for yourself, this is the trip for you! Take your next adventure with Soulfit Adventures, you wont be disappointed!"

We'll always remember and hope to try one of your other destinations soon."

  • Review by Lesley Anderson, from Australia

"Northern Laos is a great travel destination, and this itinerary is a perfect way to experience it. I especially enjoyed the opportunity for local, quiet and remote experiences and being able to come home to excellent accommodation and cuisine. The trip included rest days at two small and delightful resorts which were a real treat. Although Northern Laos is hilly (and very scenic), our cycle routes were mostly along rivers and valleys and hence were quite manageable. The two days long-boating on rivers were a highlight. Cycling is in my Australian life, but yoga is not. However, I found that the daily morning sessions were a great thing to do, and the teacher was good at handling the variety of experience levels in the class. If you regularly do cycling, or yoga, or neither, this trip could be just the thing for you."

"This has been a truly wonderful week with you on your SoulFit Yoga & Cycling Retreat. I have been humbled by the opportunity and experience of working with you over the past week. You are a compassionate leader with a great sense of humor who always kept the group together and happy. I have learned so much from teaching yoga with the group this week , for example, watching Andy's progression and Brigitte's confidence grow through the week makes me feel that this thing that we do - breathing, moving, sweating - all together in a room is one of the best things that we can do for ourselves. It's a universal benefit for all those who are willing to do the work. And because of you, we had the opportunity to come together and make this happen! You have a beautiful practice Virginia. Enjoy your own journey learning on and off the mat. I am sure we will see each other again."
