Yes, definitely. Skeptical? Soma Yoga Institute was too. However, the Soma Yoga Institute teaching team has been leading teacher trainings for over a decade. The curriculum is well-developed, time tested, and established. They have taken their live program online as the content is of incredibly high value and will bring great benefit to those who wish to deepen their own practice, and/or teach others as well as those who already teach who wish to refine and enhance their offerings to better serve their students.
The institute's anatomy informed adaptive approach is not easily found in other programs. Their teaching skill section is designed that if you practice, and practice, and practice some more, it is certain that you will be ready, confident, and equally skilled as a new teacher as those who take the in-person trainings.
Soma Yoga Institute does not have exams, in that you are graded or given a pass or fail. They do have empowerment reviews, written reflections, and practice teach elements woven into the curriculum. These are established for you to process the information, gain practical skills, and for them to help clarify any material that seems confusing. Soma Yoga Institute understands that everyone has a different learning style and this curriculum is offered in a compassionate way.
Everyone has different needs, Soma Yoga Institute suggests following along with one of their established curricula plans to keep you on track. These are 8 weeks (approximately 25 hours per week of study and practice), 12 weeks (approximately 16 hours of study and practice per week), 6 months (approximately 8 hours per week of study and practice), and 12 months (approximately 4 hours per week of study and practice).
If flexibility is what you are looking for, Soma Yoga Institute will give you up to 18 months to complete your program. Upon enrollment with your mentor, you will together determine the best study plan for you so that you can keep your pace and be motivated to the finish line.
Students are encouraged to attend eight 90-minute live calls via Zoom. The rest of the prerecorded content can be completed at your own pace. Each student will receive a faculty mentor and will meet with your mentor five times throughout the program.
