Cottage accommodation

Over the weekend, Peter will share his down to earth, highly informative yet gentle meditation instructions. This meditation retreat is ideal if you are new to meditation, or still learning, but want to go beyond simple guided meditation.

By learning from techniques of the past, you will master the basics, and gain a solid understanding of what meditation is, how it works, and how it can benefit your mind and body.

Based solidly in the Buddhist tradition, yet free from religion, Peter brings his own modern style of logic and practicality to make meditation a part of your every day life. You will learn techniques that people around the world have been using for over 2,500 years, and what to expect if you keep up meditation on a regular basis.

In addition to meditation teaching, each day also incorporates yoga to stretch out those muscles and integrate your calm mind with your body. Meditation and yoga are both excellent paths to take to get to know your own mind, using similar yet different techniques.

That is why on this retreat, you will include some yoga in both the morning and afternoon. But do not worry if you have never done any yoga before, the practice we do is easy and aimed at beginners.

Peter Radcliffe
Peter is a life coach, meditation teacher, and neuro-linguistic programming trainer. He teaches students though the lens of a calm mind to help bring peace, happiness, and joy to their lives. Peter's unique background as a Buddhist monk empowers his retreats to be so much more than an ordinary getaway, it becomes a journey in itself. Peter began coaching and teaching meditation to small groups in 2004. He left the corporate world behind in 2009 to teach meditation, neuro-linguistic programming, and personal development full time.
Bettina will be your yoga teacher for the retreat and has been instructing yoga classes in the Joondalup area of Western Australia since 2006 for adults and children of all ages, shapes, and sizes. She is the owner of Yoga2Fitness and holds a yoga teacher 400-hour certificate children's yoga instructor certificate among many other qualifications. You do not need to be flexible or fit, or have had any previous yoga experience, the movements are given in stages and you are encouraged to listen to your body and relax your busy mind.

Retreat location

This retreat will be held at Brookleigh retreat center in Swan Valley. Situated in the heart of the Swan Valley in Western Australia, just 25 kilometers from the city of Perth and 10 minutes from the airport, Brookleigh Estate has the character and facilities which guarantee visitors a truly unique experience and one which they will find impossible to forget.

The valley experience at Brookleigh Estate includes taking advantage of all the wonderful nature and beauty of the country including several nature trails to use for walking meditations or just to stretch out your body.

The menu has been designed as healthy and wholesome in a home-cooked style. It is simple but is full of flavor and your body will thank you for the nourishment. The venues are also happy to cater for lactose and gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, or any special dietary requirements you may have.

Finger food (dips, crackers, cheese, dried fruit, nuts, etc.) will be served during your welcome. If you would like something more substantial, please either bring or go and get some food beforehand.

While on retreat, Skillful Mind adhere to cleansing comforting catering with nourishing vegetarian meals and will include delicious morning and afternoon teas, two-course lunches, and Saturday dinner, all made from fresh local produce by local caterers Swan Valley Cafe.

An example of what Skillful Mind is planning for this retreat includes:

  • Breakfast: Homemade granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, and gluten-free bread with butter
  • Morning tea: Super raw balls, fruit, coffee, and tea from Valley Tea
  • Light lunch: This would include vegetarian kofta balls of felafel, frittata platter, and wrap platter with two types of salad
  • Dinner: This would include a sushi platter, savory mixed platter, and one type of salad (brown quinoa for example)
  • Light dinner on first evening: Gluten-free pastry platter
  • Afternoon tea: Similar to morning tea
