Single room

Sivananda Yoga Ranch's single rooms are perfect for visitors seeking private sleeping quarters. Each of these rooms is furnished with one twin bed and a dresser and / or closet and includes the use of shared bathroom facilities.

Double room

The ranch's double rooms are an excellent option for visitors who are seeking more private room accommodations with only one additional roommate. They are very well suited for couples or a two-person registration. Each of these rooms is furnished with two twin beds and a dresser and / or closet and includes the use of shared bathroom facilities.

Shared room

The ranch's single-gendered shared rooms are ideal for visitors who seek a more reasonable accommodation rate while still having all the comforts of being indoors. Bedding and towels are provided. Each of these rooms is furnished with 3-4 twin beds per room (typically one bunk bed and one single bed) and includes the use of shared bathroom facilities. Please note that if you are registering individually, you will be sharing a space with roommates.

Bring your own tent

The yoga ranch's camping option is ideal for visitors seeking private sleeping out under the stars. You can reconnect with nature on the ranch's 77 acres of rolling forested hills in the Catskill Mountains. Each of the yoga ranch's campers is offered the use of the shared indoor shower and restroom facilities. Please bring your own tent, tarps, pillows, bedding (or sleeping bag), camping, and rain gear.

Single apartment

Sivananda Yoga Ranch's single apartments are a superb choice for visitors seeking a quieter and private experience. Each of these rooms is furnished with one twin bed and a dresser and / or closet and offers a private deck, sitting area, private bathroom, and private bedroom.

Shared apartment

The ranch's shared apartments are perfect for families or a small group of friends looking to share in a comfortable and private dwelling space. Each of these rooms is furnished with three or four twin beds, sitting area, and a dresser and / or closet and includes a private bathroom.

The Five Points of Yoga

After closely observing the lifestyles and needs of people in the West, Swami Vishnudevananda noted that the ancient wisdom of yoga can be synthesized into five basic principles, which can easily be incorporated into your own lifestyle to provide the foundation for healthy living. It is around these five principles that the activities at the Sivananda Yoga Ranch and the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center New York City are based.

Proper exercise Sivananda yoga, Five Points of Yoga (asanas)

The asanas not only produce a strong healthy body but as exercises in meditation, they provide deep and powerful inner benefits.

Proper breathing Sivananda yoga, Five Points of Yoga (pranayama)

These specific breathing techniques align you with your natural energy, creating physical and mental rejuvenation, and promoting optimum health.

Proper relaxation Sivananda yoga, Five Points of Yoga (savasana)

Yoga teaches three levels of relaxation, which are physical, mental, and spiritual. Savasana is a vital part of keeping the body, mind, and spirit healthy.

Proper diet (vegetarian)

A yogi eats with awareness, choosing food that has the most positive effect on the body and mind and the least negative effect on the environment.

Positive thinking and meditation (Vedanta and Dhyana)

You will get daily delicious organic vegetarian brunch and dinner. The Sivananda Yoga Ranch is strictly vegetarian. Meat, fowl, fish, and eggs are not allowed on the grounds. Moreover, garlic and onions are also not allowed in the yogic diet.

Spa treatments

You have access to the traditional Russian banya or wood-burning sauna during this retreat if your stay includes a Saturday and/or Sunday date. The traditional Russian banya, or wood burning sauna, is a favorite among guests for seeking detoxification, wanting to soothe sore muscles, or simply looking for a warm place for reflection. The panoramic view of the pond and forest as you step inside is ideal for contemplation and deepening the sense of relaxation. There is a rinse-only shower located inside and outside the sauna building. This is a co-ed sauna, so please wear a bathing suit. This place is open on Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.

Although there are several airports in the greater New York City area, and they all have shuttle / transit service to New York’s Port Authority, the one Sivananda Yoga Ranch recommend is LaGuardia Airport (LGA) for it's being the easiest in getting to the Port Authority and then taking the bus to the Sivananda Yoga Ranch.

Arrival by bus

Traveling to the Sivananda Yoga Ranch by the short line bus takes roughly two-half hours. The trip requires two bus tickets which are one ticket from New York City to Monticello and another ticket from Monticello onto Woodbourne. The cost is roughly 34 USD in total for the two tickets (68 USD for round-trip).

For the guests’ convenience, Sivananda Yoga Ranch happily offers both pick-up and drop-off shuttle service from the Citgo bus stop in Woodbourne.

Your initial bus trip purchase from New York City onto Woodbourne can be made at the Port Authority in New York City. Your return bus trip can be purchased there as well, or here which will be at a 10% discount to what it costs in the New York City.

If you are already made it to the Port Authority, please let the bus services ticket agent (stationed on the 2nd floor) know you’d like to purchase a bus trip through Monticello onto Woodbourne (two tickets which are 34 USD each).

Once you complete the first leg of the trip and arrive in Monticello, please give us a call to let Sivananda Yoga Ranch knows. The next bus ride from Monticello to Woodbourne is a local route, making stops at places like Walmart, the gas station, and the grocery store. Please let the bus driver know that you want to get dropped off at the Citgo gas station in Woodburne, and welcome to the life in a small town.

Sivananda Yoga Ranch will be waiting for you at the bus stop. If for any reason you arrive and the shuttle service isn’t there waiting to greet you, please give Sivananda Yoga Ranch a quick call and Sivananda Yoga Ranch will be right there to pick you up.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 10% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
