"Dear Yogis,Regarding our visit to Dol Ashram:Exceeded all expectations."

" The food in the ashram was amazing & very healthy."

" I can barely describe it in words. The whole week was such an invigorating refreshing, unique experience. Surrounded by nature, beautiful people and such positive, uplifting energy."

" This was my first yoga retreat, and the first time I've had a yoga teacher for a while. The yoga practice really provided an excellent opportunity to correct my yoga poses, as well as giving me the support and confidence to try postures I had always believed myself unable to do! I felt supported, in learning the basics and trust in the teacher in improving. This helped me build confidence and work through my fears... about what I was capable of. The yoga classes were great - a real work out for the body, now feel very confident to continue it at home. I am particularly interested in knowing the benefits of each poses, their alignment and their impact on the mind."

" I felt amazing after the 5 days of good, healthy, quality food and the yoga classes. I was trying to do halasan & headstand and yes, I was very scared, but managed to overcome this fear thanks to Mr. Arun. I hope I will be able to do headstand in a week or so at Baroda."

" I hope wonderful instruction from swamiji & Mr. Arun will set me on my yoga journey feeling confident and curious."

" This retreat opened my body, soul and mind. At first I was a little hesitant but once I settled, I felt very much at peace. The yoga opened my body and I felt a new sense of strength and flexibility enter my muscles. The meditation helped to calm my mind and I learn a few techniques to help flush out negative thoughts."

" There were lots of stories, laughter and tears, and I feel sure we will keep in touch though our photos and emails. I will always remember this week the people, places and experience, as it being one of the best of my life.Exceeded all expectations. The food in the ashram was amazing & very healthy.I can barely describe it in words. "At the ashram, we were assigned our rooms. The spouse came along and we were delighted to discover that we have a bathroom with a geyser. This is what being high caste must have felt like in the dark ages, having privileges that one hasnt earned. Some people had to queue up outside for hot water. The rooms were serviceable and comfortable. The schedule feels hurried, leaving one almost no time, but it is cleverly designed to keep your body busy while the mind has a rest. Like a mirror dusted after long, it really clears up. Really, we couldnt complain there was a one-month yoga teacher training course (TTC) that some were taking and they had a more grueling schedule. There were some interesting mentions of kriyas, an example of one would be where one drinks a lot of water and then, brings it all up to rinse out the insides. Its like swallowing a washing machine, what with the swirling, churning and draining. There was no TV, intermittent access to internet, almost no time to talk to family just the ticking clock to get to the next session. And in return, we had wonderful yoga teachers Gayatri and Aparna from the Sivananda Gurgaon centre, the rockstar Swami Govindananda spiritual teacher extraordinaire, ably assisted by the very benevolent Swami Nivedananda and of course, our excellent yoga guru, Arun Pandala. Some wonderful things happened during the retreat. It cleared up a lot of misconceptions and there were several realizations: Its really easy to love other people, if you are not constantly on the defensive. We had 9 retreaters and about 25 people in the TTC whom we would meet at satsang and meals. We found each other loving, funny, generous and most accommodating if you can apply that to more than 10 people simultaneously on any given day, you are blessed. The body has an infinite capacity to be pushed so please, we can all stop whining. 24 hours of yoga on 6 consecutive days! Every time you say, oh, maybe I am too tired to go to yoga or the gym, your mind is kidding you. Most of those tense shoulders, pinched nerves, sprained joints just fix themselves if you persevere. At the retreat, several candidates had fever and the sickness had a special name, it was called 98 degree fever by the teachers (yes, tongue firmly in cheek). Like Arun says, the body has an infinite capacity to heal itself just dont get in the way.Now that most of us dont have survival problems, we have a host of psychosomatic ones that are our identity. It may also be a clever ploy to get sympathy from others in an age when people are getting more and more disconnected & less and less empathetic. Its really easy to get up at 4:30am and get ready in under 30 minutes its a beautiful time of the morning, in fact, what my mother always told me was called brahmamuhurtam when good things happen and any efforts made have big paybacks, especially spiritual activities like meditation, chanting or the pursuit of knowledge."
