Arrival by airplane

The airport you need to fly into is Athens International Airport, Elefthrios Venizlos.

Once in Athens you have two choices of getting to the Island. The trip will take three and a half to four hours either way.

Private transport: We use Athens Taxi Transfers for transfers from Athens to the closest local port by private or shared taxi. You can contact Frances on info@athens-taxi-transfers.com" for prices either via the mountains or the ferry crossing (same route as the bus)

By Bus: There is a daily bus at 6:45am (high season) and 8:45am (low season) directly to our local port. the cost is 18 and it includes a fun ferry crossing 4,70.

You will arrive at 10:20am (high season) and 12:20pm (low season) and we will meet you as the bus comes in. You will have an opportunity to get a few last minute things in the village before departing for the island by boat.

Alternatively for those wanting to spend some time exploring incredible Greece, there are many other airlines and flights into Athens. If you don't enjoy cities and want to get to the beach, then you are welcome to stay in our little local village of Oreoi. We are happy to help with accommodation recommendations and bookings in the village.

Alternative arrival / departure times are NOT possible. Being a private island, we rely on a water taxi service to bring our guest to and from the island. Due to the strict maritime laws, we are not able to take guests across with our own boat. The weather also become unpredictable in the afternoons with the North winds, so crossing is not always possible, and the port police will ground all boats. If you are not able to make pick up time, this needs to be communicated well in advance and it will cost 150 EUR for the trip, but this too will be weather dependent.

For information about the booking conditions, please send Silver Island Yoga an inquiry.

"Our trip to Silver Island was our first visit to the island and our first ever yoga retreat. We couldn't fault the whole experience. Claire was extremely helpful and responsive when we first booked and provided all the information we needed to prepare for our trip. The island itself is idyllic - a natural, off the grid sanctuary to relax and unwind. Lissa, Corne, Katerina and Ernest worked tirelessly to ensure that our stay was perfect in every way. They put so much love, care, attention to detail and effort into the whole experience and it really shows - they looked after us so well. Our yoga teacher was fantastic too - experienced, welcoming and kind. The food was a highlight and we will definitely be buying the cook book! We don't often go back to the same place twice as we love to travel and explore new places, but there is no doubt that we will be returning to Silver Island. It's an experience that we will never forget. Thank you to Claire, Lissa, Corne, Katerina and Ernest for making it so special!"

What I love about Silver Island and what makes me come back is that it provides the luxury of a beautiful hotel (rooms, setting of meals, privacy on the island) with the feeling of a family place which is the way Lissa and Corne chose to host us."

Everything was magical; the hosts, Lissa and Corne are very special people, so welcoming, kind and thoughtful, the food was outstanding, the yoga was fantastic, as was Hayley and the island itself is so beautiful and serene. "When I look around Silver Island, at the Olive trees, the little beaches, the pathways, the rooms, the linen, the attention to conservation of water, the food, the tiny but perfectly clean kitchen, the products, the table settings, the yoga Shala, the yoga equipment, the welcome note, the room turn down, the water replenishment, the beautiful and tasty food, the hosts and the host animals, it is very clear to me that so much thought and attention has gone into every single element. The owners / inheritors / managers and staff of the island clearly have taken to their hearts to uphold this place for the precious entity that it is."

"Jim was excellent, he provided great insight into anatomy and his positioning tips gave me a better understanding of how to properly utilise the body to provide better strength and balance in postures (and there I was thinking it was bad muscle tone, well maybe a bit more of that wouldn't go amiss either). Loved that he used Tai Chi & Chi Gong allowing the body to flow better & when you combine this all with his gentle, kind and humorous nature how could you go wrong? In the 4 years that I have been coming to Silver Island, Jim provided, for me, the best yoga, the classes flew by and were the perfect balance of instruction, movement & meditation."

"Jim is a FANTASTIC soul and an amazing teacher. He has a deep understanding of anatomy and over 20 years of yoga experience. I loved the hows and whys of the various poses explained. He brings together the mind, soul and body in each session for the full experience. I enjoyed all his anecdotes and the life he brought with him to the platform. I didn't miss ONE session because I didn't want to miss a thing. Loved him so much that I'm going back for more next year. Same room, same teacher, same yoga companion - why change the perfect formula! Thank You JIM!"

We were so well taken care of in the non-yoga activities that the yoga experience itself was greatly enhanced. Marley is a fantastic and enthusiastic teacher. The entire process from booking to leaving is well done. Lissa and Corné are excellent hosts and created a spirit of community amongst our group that made the entire week special. And don't get me started on the food...delicious doesn't begin to cover it! Thank you for a (hopefully not just) once in a lifetime experience!"

"I had a very good teacher at home, but I think Meredith really added value for me in terms of both v good knowledge about body (and mind): she was able to provide good teaching on both theory and practice in a manner that I understood well and was able to bring back and actually use! In addition, I think she was very good at seeing the group's needs, and help us reaching new levels, at whatever level we were started from. For me, I also greatly enjoyed her social contribution to the group, which I appreciated a lot. I think none of us were very "hard core", albeit serious about wanting to learn yoga, and I think she fitted excellent with the group, adding social value, understanding and adapting to the participants. She has indeed the sort of mild, positive but clear personality that I really appreciated."

"I had the most amazing week on the Christie's small piece of heaven, Silver Island. I think one only realises how magical a place is and how much it restores ones soul once back in the humdrum of life. I arrived pale, tired and miserable with stress, Silver Island gave me the solace and space to switch off the buzz of life and really unwind. I loved the fact there was no connectivity and the biggest decision I had to make each day was about which beach to read my book on and where to have my afternoon nap! Lissa's food was sublime and it was such a treat being looked after for a week by the team. Fela's yoga classes were just great, he is a special soul and I loved every minute of the poses and meditation. I honestly felt so rested and restored when I left and wanted the feeling to last forever. It really is a magical place that Claire and Lissa have created for others to share, its wonderful!"

"The island yoga retreat and setting is wonderful . It's a magical experience on a secluded private island far away from the hum drum of life. I loved the fact there was no electricity, no wifi and no disturbances from the outside world. Just the 10 participants, my yoga teacher Fela and the hosts Corne and Lissa. Where in the world can I swim in waters where there is phosphorescence below and falling meteors above. I was in heavenly bliss every minute of every day. Its been good for my soul, my inner body and feel so healthy and relaxed . We all need Silver Island in our lives."

"One week feels like much longer. It is a truly cleansing experience. Just about as much "civilisation" as necessary and the right amount of pure nature. The teacher and the "classmates" was a really happy coincidence for me and I can't speak warmly enough about the hosts who treat you like family from the first moment. I can't really think of something I really missed on the island. And i definitely took home with me a great experience, physical and spiritual, a few new friends and a plan to go back as soon as possible."

"This really is a very special place to come and stay and practice yoga. The island really does have a magical feel to it and it is the perfect place to come to if you are tired, burnt out, need some space to think, or just want a magical holiday. Lissa and Corne are the perfect hosts- warm, open and relaxed with some great tales to tell around the dining table! I would also recommend Silver Island to anyone who hasn't practiced yoga before as there is no "yoga snobbery"!- you can just do things at your own pace without feeling out of your depth. Truly magical and if you want it to be - a life changing experience."

"If the magic island from the 1991 movie Hook and the Chocolate Tasting room from theoriginal Willy Wonka film had a love child it might be something like Silver Island. Silver Island is the dolphin of sea creatures, the unicorn of mythical beasts, and the pomegranate of fruits. If it was a person I'd be like 'I want to be on you'. Silver Island is. a beautiful, welcoming and relaxing...truly relaxing. I could not more highly recommend an experience. I imagine that all who visit the island leave feeling nourished, positive, and peaceful"

"The retreat was an experience of perfection the island is magic, the waters around the island crystal clear, the hosts Lisa and Corne are very beautiful and inspirational people and cook out-of-this-world feasts for every meal. The view from the rooms is majestic, and loving finishing touches in the buildings and across the island (like a white bench with a pink cushion on top of the hill with a perfect view), made me feel like I stepped into a fairy tale. Lisa and Corne went out of their way to ensure that each one of us felt pampered for example one morning Lisa gave me a drawing class, while Corne took another participant on a fishing trip with him. The yoga classes were amazing (and what a view from the platform!), and our yoga teacher Marley was a manifestation of Shakti."

"My time on Silver Island was exactly what it was promised to be and I had hoped it might be - therefore it was exactly what I needed. I chose the island naturally based on the stunning setting, once in a lifetime opportunity and other glowing reviews. It was almost surreal in its beauty: the tranquility, daily yoga overlooking the sea and incredible food at every meal. But the best surprise were the other guests on the island, who proved to be fun loving, like-minded and became my friends both during and beyond the retreat. Regarding the yoga journey during the week; our teacher Lisa was patient and catered to everyone's needs and ability. A personal highlight were the meditation exercises and other activities such as the luminescent algae, sunset rock and meditation platform were perfect extras. If you are looking for something wonderfully different in a beautiful place - complete with the chance to find some self-reflection and relaxation then look no further. Thank you, Silver Island is a paradise indeed!"

It is elegant in it's rawness; may it remain as such. Lissa and Corne share their magical island home with grace and generosity. Go - soon - while you still can!"
